Another new Switch 2 "leak" from 4chan, please take with a grain of salt, no aggro:

The final hardware and development kits are finally making rounds publicly. This is the hardware developers have access to.

Custom Tegra T239 processor. It has multiple profiles with varying clocks for the CPU and GPU so developers can choose the right one for their game. Optimize for better battery, performance, etc. At maximum the development hardware pulls 28.6 watts from the wall, 11watts in portable.

The development hardware uses another 720p OLED screen. The device has 24gbps HDMI 2.1 support. Their is no 120hz support, but supports 4K60 output with 10 bit HDR.

Our hardware came with 256gbs of much faster storage with UHS-II micro card support. Read and writes speeds are similar to the Samsung S22, 550mbps read, 480mbps write.

The system is the Xbox Series to the Switch's Xbox One. It features full backwards compatibility. The SoC also boasts an Ampere based GPU capable of Ray traced reflections and Nvidia's DLSS. Switch games will be eligible for free next gen upgrades and games like Fortnite are cutting off Switch support by the end of the next calendar year to make way for the Switch 2. All ongoing Nintendo games (i.e. Splatoon 3, TotK, Pokemon, Mario Kart 8) will get next gen treatment with many studios also preparing their existing games for the new hardware.

Games that don't get an upgrade can still benefit from the new hardware. Exclusively in docked mode their are upscaling and filtering options for existing Switch games.

Fortnite is already running on this device and in comparison to Xbox Series S, the Switch 2 maintains the same image quality docked at 60fps. In portable mode it's still 60fps as well, but without Nanite and Global Illumination.

This is lovely. I actually fell off of Nintendo for a couple generations after being a huge Zelda fan as a child, before being brought back right around the release of the WiiU because of how cool Skyward Sword looked, and playing that convinced me to dig into the Nintendo stuff I'd been missing for half my life, and I just fell hard back into being a fan and a whole later here I am!

Fortnite to my knowledge requires not being in a match to switch between regular and Nanite geometry. The scenario of switching between docked and portable and having that exact scenario happen seems… off?

Probably from the Nvidia files leaked by Lapsus$ since NWPlayer123 did share that T239's codename is Drake, T239's GPU's based on the Ampere architecture, and that T239's GPU codename is GA10F.

I don't think that's really surprising to anyone with knowledge of the contents of NVN2 from the Nvidia files leaked by Lapsus$ since:

• The number of CPU cores has been reduced from 12 on T234 to 8 on T239, although T234 requires 3 CPU clusters vs 1 CPU cluster for T239, which can be advantageous in a way (T239's probably using the Cortex-A78C)
• The number of SMs has been reduced from 16 SMs (2048 CUDA cores) on T234 to 12 SMs (1536 CUDA cores) on T239
• The Tensor cores on T239's GPU (like with Tensor cores on consumer Ampere GPUs) are only capable of doing half the Half-Precision Matrix Multiply and Accumulate (HMMA), Integer Matrix Multiple and Accumulate (IMMA), and Binary Matrix Multiple and Accumulate (BMMA) instructions vs the Tensor cores on T234's GPU

Not to make a slight tangent, but - I never considered myself a Nintendo fan. I grew up too poor to play video games, only getting to play the original NES Zelda when my dad went to visit a buddy of his who had a NES wired up in a corner. It would be 20 years before I got to college and had friends introduce me to Link to the Past on down. Then Switch arrived and fit into my actual adult life, and suddenly I could play games again, but I barely knew how to make the dang camera move.

But I knew how hardware and software works, and so stumbled into this thread's predecessor, and you all have turned me onto a bunch of cool shit, and made me into a gamer. Ya'll gave me Zelda back, and that's fucking awesome. So maybe I'm not a Nintendo fan yet (Zelda fan yes), but I'm definitely a fan of this community. So if I did see a way to serve, I'm down!

Hmmm interesting, so I got a 2 month ban for a stupid joke that references a set of zelda characters but put in a poorly written way generalizing all middle eastern people as one race and culture (which I recognize that was pretty bad, yes). And before that, iirc a ~6 month ban for calling someone crazy but again, in a very poorly written manner (the stupid "take your meds" joke).

But, a guy who LITERALLY said that minorities only care about making babies and living off welfare gets only a 2 month ban?

Not only that but there are (some) people who have been banned for WAY less for WAY more months in that one thread where people were discussing ATLUS' writers ideocracy when dealing with trans and queer folk.

We all know that the months and years leading up to the launch of new hardware are filled with plenty of rumors and "chatter". Some of those rumors end up being true. The vast majority end up being fake. While we cannot possibly control or verify every rumor that is posted here, we do expect some restraint from all users who are active in this thread. With that said, we want to apply or re-enforce a couple of rules regarding the posting of rumors and leaks.

Any leak or rumor that you post needs to be cited. This includes any screenshot, text post, or fuzzy picture of a possible system. While we understand that internet posts are taken down all of the time, the original link should still be available to add when you are creating the post. If your posted is questioned then you will be expected to provide the source. Failure to provide said information may result in moderation. As you are likely aware, this thread generates a lot of lurkers from across the internet. We have been cited many times, and we would prefer that "homemade leaks" are not posted here as it hurts the site's reputation.

Also, we understand that this is a highly sensitive thread. At times the discussion has gotten tense about what should and shouldn't be allowed to be shown here. We want everyone to feel welcomed here while respecting the rules and atmosphere. If you wish to post a leak that everyone will automatically know is fake, then it should be established as such right away. You should not post a fake leak with "do you think this is real?" At the same time, continuous sharing of fake leaks will not be tolerated and will be subject to moderation.
