The funny thing is, Switch is getting leaks of games more than actual announcements. Borderlands 3, Remnant, Humankind, Batman Arkham, lots of stuff leaken with no announcement in sight.
And then there's delayed and lost releases. Lara Croft games, Kingdom Come, Evil Dead, Marvel's Midnight Suns, next years Hogwarts Legacy...
Nintendo needs to reveal this thing pretty soon or they have to carry the system only by niche stuff. They need more than 2DHD stuff and Trails games to keep Switch alive.
Armored Core 6 is cross gen. I've never played a game from that series but I'll be port begging for Drake
We had a PSP entry for Armored Core and it was pretty good. A Drake port makes a lot of sense.Armored Core 6 is cross gen. I've never played a game from that series but I'll be port begging for Drake.
I'm trying to go Switch only but the lack of genre balance nowadays is making it very hard to do. Lots of tactics games and retro RPG's and very few 3D action titles. This fall alone I did a lots of grinding across Persona 5 and Trails to Zero. Switch didn't have enough action titles this year like it got last year: Dying Light, GTA Trilogy and World War Z.HD2D and tactics games are keeping this thing alive for me. Next up is Tactics Ogre. I’d be extremely down to play Advance Wars as well… if only.
The trailer looked outstanding, but also I’m still generally scared of From games. I have no idea what to expect from the difficulty here - as long as it’s not expecting the same dexterity as Souls melee combat does, I’m willing to try.
hopefully jan/feb. just praying we don't get a delay...Nothing like the game awards to make it feel like Nintendo isn’t even in the same industry. Plenty of big game announcements and basically none of them for Switch. Damn I wish they’d reveal this thing soon.
It's actually a full-price game rather than a eshop title.so many announcements with PC/Xbox/PS5/PS4 as platforms it's indeed feeling lonely out there for third party support. Nintendo had a strange ad thanking indie devs & another promoting some Splatoon weekend. even the Splatoon/Bayonetta 3 awards felt like participation prizes to get Nintendo in the door, though Zelda being most anticipated seemed legit. all the more reason to get this hardware out for it.
oh and that Bayonetta prequel RPG eshop title...
So can I get one for less than triple the cost of a similarly-sized UHS-I microSD card? If the answer is no (which I know it is, because I checked), nah, doesn't meet their needs at all, never mind any other reason. That's the thing, though, SD Express DOES meet their needs.
Nintendo does not "control" anything, they are neither board members nor executive members. Being a general member means practically nothing, they basically just pay an annual fee for pre-release documentation on SD products, like the other several hundreds of general member companies. And MAYBE they'll contribute free labour to the standard, maybe. And there's still no realistic other choice, so that's irrelevant.
Either too large AND too power hungry, like M.2. Xbox Series X CFe enclosed M.2 expansion drives need a physical connection inside the console to the cooling system to keep them cool.
Or irrelevant, out of production and entirely out of their hands, like UFS card.
Nintendo had input on next gen SD cards. Not only were they aware of these limitations years ago, likely before we did, but you also have to keep in mind that the console DOESN'T have to run these chips at maximum speed all the time. And even then the power consumption of SDe falls within the power consumption allowances of the original Switch.
There simply isn't an alternative if they want a small formfactor, high speed expansion option. Again, one which they control. The temperature issues are there on all options in this sector, the Switch having the benefit of, like the Xbox, connecting the expansion card (SD(e) and CFe respectively) to the cooling system. Something I'm sure they've thought of.
UFS isn't irrelevant, it's currently used in half the smartphones currently in production. Leveraging that production into the card format would be a process, but no more or less than convincing card manufacturers to make SD Express cards, of which there is (to no one's shock) vanishingly few of. I checked Sandisk, Lexar, Samsung, AData... only the last name on that list makes one, 512GB, and it currently costs USD$200 at the ONE online retailer I found who carries it, and it's not even the microSD configuration. I also found another from a memory brand I am unfamiliar with, similar story, 256GB for $150. Lexar announced that they intend to make SD Express cards, but they also said they'd have a 2022 release date and... yeah. This is a similar story to UHS-II, bloody pricey and poor availability due to so few devices using the technology.Yes, it is, but, yes, it is.
Open, yes. But also yes, irrelevant and out of their hands.
MS is trying to acquire Activision before Tencent/Chinese Government do so. They can't publicly say that though. MS does say they view Tencent add their real competition. MS might be sinophobic for this view in the eyes of some, but they see issues with Tencent owning more US tech companies.Legally speaking, momentum is a secret sauce, see the antitrust lawsuits against Microsoft themselves in the 90s. Just as critically, "just make a modern shooter yourself" is actually an argument against the merger.
Part of Sony's point is that they shouldn't have to be able to make it themselves. In Sony's argument, they make a better console than Microsoft and the player's reward them by buying it in much better numbers than MS, and that Activision Blizzard can have a huge hit like CoD without having to be made by Sony themselves, because Sony has a healthy platform.
Microsoft, big giant company, who competes with Sony on the console front, buys up CoD, makes it exclusive and/or gives it away to (Gamepass) to Xbox owners and in a single stroke, without improving the quality of their console, or Sony making a misstep with their console, MS has massively shored up the value of their "weaker" (in terms of market success) product. Historically speaking, the US courts have treated that as monopolistic behavior

See Tiktok and how it's algorithm here as it is meant to elevate "stupid" content here and pushes "smart" content in China such as STEM related videos. Tiktok also spies the most of all of the social media apps on a phone.
As a note all corporations in China require a member of the government/CCP party to be part of the business. The CCP party has final say on all corporate decisions.
If anyone wants a reminder of Jack Ma.

Jack Ma was about to become the richest man in China.
In November 2020, on the eve of another commercial success, the outspoken billionaire suddenly went missing.
The company is aiming to revolutionise banking in China, shifting power away from traditional institutions.
On 24 October in Shanghai, Ant Group was ready to launch the world's biggest initial public offering on the stock exchange.
Ahead of this, Ma addressed an assembly of high-profile figures with a controversial speech that criticised the Chinese financial system.
microsoft who was MIA aside from logos at the bottom of teaser trailersNothing like the game awards to make it feel like Nintendo isn’t even in the same industry. Plenty of big game announcements and basically none of them for Switch. Damn I wish they’d reveal this thing soon.
Tencent is one of the biggest and most rapidly expanding media conglomerates. They have their hands in tech, movies, social media, and a bunch of other tech systems. They have stakes in Platinum games, Discord, Epic Games, a minority stake in Ubisoft, along with owning Chinese and Non-Chinese smaller developers and publishers. Also, first off, every, single, app, in the world spies and tracks information, including the US. To me, this just comes across sinophobic if you single out a Chinese company doing this.
Also, what did you mean by... this?
The kind of oversight that China has is very different than the oversight the US, EU, or Japan have. A member of the CCP party has to part of the company and have an office in the company building. It would be like the US federal government requiring all companies to have a member of the democrat and republican party as a part of the company and allow those two representatives to shoot down any idea they don't like if the respective parties don't like it."might be" "by the eyes of some", like, just be blunt about what you mean here.
I also want to note the idea that a country has oversight over companies goings and givings isn't inherently a problem, especially if it's intent is to cut down on monopolies and stuff. I don't know what you're implying here.
Hey, they highlighted FeMC in a Game pass promo, I count that as a win.microsoft who was MIA aside from logos at the bottom of teaser trailers
lol can we go back to freaking out over Nate's synonym choices? this is getting a bit...heavy

American corporations are legally required to seek profit above all else. I wonder what that could lead to... wait, which corporation are we talking about again? Numerous people have been abused, have had their lives ruined due to this American tech company. The boss who enabled it is protected by the shareholders. And this is a real thing that happened, not some weird tangent hypothetical. But go off about how we have to keep ActBlizz in exceptional American hands and away from the evil Chinese. The problem with Chinese ownership is they are legally required to help the CCP. If they don't cooperate the government can arbitrarily attack them economically. Tencent was a victim of such actions when there was a major bigtech crackdown. Doesn't matter what you feel about American tech companies, Chinese ones are way worse by virtue of their close ties with the CCP
The people of China, at least some of them are protesting against the CCP. I stand by them and cheer them on. No system or style of government can be or ever was perfect when humanity was involved.
The CCP is what both political parties in the US want to aspire to becoming. The CCP is a fascist regime, using slave labor of muslim minorities and dissidents to make/manufacture a lot of products for the US and other nations. Everything from toasters to Anime statues.

All corporations seek profit. Equivocating between the CCP backed corps and US corps is non starter in a discussion as it assumes both sides are the same and frankly they are not. and dare I say extremely naive position.American corporations are legally required to seek profit above all else. that's already a thing in burgerland lol. all the politicians and their failchildren end up in company boards after they retire or lose elections where they basically steer policy to be favorable to american interests. and get to line their pockets with some good ol lobbying money. The kind of oversight that China has is very different than the oversight the US, EU, or Japan have. Well I was pretty convinced by my position of "Fuck the American owners of ActBlizz" by the weight of the evidence and an entire lifetime of experience of observing and experiencing how America treats workers but your argument of "No trust me bro America is superior" has changed my mind. All corporations seek profit. Equivocating between the CCP backed corps and US corps is non starter in a discussion as it assumes both sides are the same and frankly they are not. and dare I say extremely naive position.
Honey, the way China keeps them "safe" is barbaric. If you're gonna make a comment about the protests then educate yourself instead of seemingly make the protests sound stupid. Stop. Let's not hold a candle for the CCP let alone play this whataboutism.Okay, why are they protesting against them? From what I've seen, it's because of the COVID restrictions, you know, the ones keeping them safe?
There are protests going on right now against FOXCONN, which is a Taiwanese company, which workers are protesting against the work conditions. Both of these protests are co-existing right now and only one of the two has any merit. Can you guess which one of the two these are?
Okay, let's not beat around the bush around this. The United States absolutely uses slave labor for our farms, factories, etc., through the use of forcing Prisoners to work under them for little to no money.
Also to add onto this, ICE detainees were also forced to do slave labor as well (article from 2017 talks about this a bit). This is nothing to say how recent this is and the past behavior that the United States enabled of such labor and such shit continues today. You do not get to go on the high rode with me on this when the United States does this shit.
Look, I'm going to be blunt with you. The United States government has enough sway to pressure and get information out from companies they need, without having to need to have a person in the company to represent a governmental party. It doesn't take much for the United States to request information from a company and get it as needed.
Lmao. Wow. Yeah mods are gonna have a great time with this one.So corporation and capitalism good, oversight, regulating, and squashing overgrowth bad. Got it.
At the end of the day, Capitalism and the way corporations here in America are allowed to run amuck without oversight and regulation, has caused some much active harm, as well as the lobbying they've done to prevent actual helpful and progressive policies that would help people out. I don't get where you're coming from on saying how a Chinese company owning something is worse than a US company is, given how things are progressing here in the US under major corporations.
It absolutely sounds really sinophobic and racist at the end of the day.
Lmao. Wow. Yeah mods are gonna have a great time with this one.
Fellas, is it Sinophobia to find the CCP problematic
The only "whataboutism" that happened here was someone bringing up China out of nowhere as a hypothetical to justify Microsoft expanding its corporate power.
Personally I find it absolutely mindboggling how hard people will cling to their notions of American Exceptionalism despite endless evidence to the contrary. ActBlizz would never have been for sale in the first place if America had a sliver of moral high ground to stand on.
Life is strange 3 for example.Persona is the major one but tbh I don't remember many games getting announced on other platforms but the Switch announcement is saved for a direct. At least not day and date titles.
Nowhere did i say that you are arguing with a strawman you built in your head.So corporation and capitalism good, oversight, regulating, and squashing overgrowth bad. Got it.

Don't have a comprehensive list, but I'm pretty sure a few of the more indie things had Switch logos in their trailers.I’m going to ignore what happened for most part on the page and just ask:
How many games were announced for the switch besides the Bayonetta Origins?
And what was the latest date targeted? Is it really only TOTK at the moment with May 12?
We will need to wait until early next year of course with a direct, to see how the rest of the year stacks up, but was there really nothing beyond Zelda with a date?
just a few indie games, which Nintendo are very grateful for. the only things left that'll run on the system. lol.I’m going to ignore what happened for most part on the page and just ask:
