StarTopic Future Nintendo Hardware & Technology Speculation & Discussion |ST| (Read the staff posts before commenting!)

Where would this thing be announced? Next week there are Xenoblade previews so i'm not sure.
IMHO it seems really unlikely a new spec would be announced before the Splatoon 3 version releases, and probably not until at least 1-2 months after. If I was a buyer of that model I would feel cheated if something better was announced immediately afterwards.

I guess we will see. Nintendo still needs to date some of their titles after all.

I'm guessing towards the end of the year.

I still suspect a 2023 release to coincide with BoTW sequel and perhaps some other unannounced titles (Metroid Prime 4 reveal? New F-Zero?). If Next Level Games had a quick turn-around for Mario Strikers, I suspect they might be currently working on a new game already.
One of the uncles said it’s in

Nintendo will have to announce the Pro while having big titles between the announcement and Drake release, that is just how they will be forced to do it due to their software release schedule. I’m not saying it will be Splatoon case but we shouldnt think X game is releasing only after it’s release they will announce it, because in that case there will always be a X game to ‘delay’ the announcement.

Makes me wonder if Nintendo “is” thinking of releasing Drake with Zelda but the game needs more time then they can’t just delay it. If there is a big Direct in the coming weeks then it would be the best way to announce it

They of course would be capable of doing so but it'd kind of be a bad gesture to anyone who bought the S3 unit. Evidently, Nintendo doesn't have to care about that, and buyers that are aware of the rumors would be doing so at a risk
I don’t think Nintendo sees it as a bad gesture because to them the S3 OLED is a shiny new toy for Splatoon 3 enthusiasts. They specifically view it as a something that will cater to that audience. In the same way hardcore enthusiasts of comics will buy limited edition action figures of their favorite IP.

That’s why I think they don’t think they’re stepping on the toes of the wider customer base, who likely already have a Switch and aren’t going to buy another limited edition console. Limited edition consoles don’t really attract the same person who is going to buy a Switch 2/Pro or whatever it ends up being.

What DF hints and what Bloomberg reports? Recent reports or the stuff from last year?

But yes, I agree. There's a lot of smoke and it feels like we're gearing up for a reveal soon.
The reports form Bloomberg last year that got shutdown by Nintendo. There was def. some basis for the report, because that's not how reporting works with reputable institutions like Bloomberg. YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOURCE.
Digital Foundry flat out said they know that dev units are out there in the last DF direct.

The only value it would get is a bump in graphics, I guarantee the rest of the value will be the same
I expect all Xeno games to be locked at 30fps with Drake patch not uncapping them , framerate will be a lot more stable but not that much more performance wise. I think a possible Monolith Soft action game will be Drake exclusive to get locked 60fps tho

Software is king! I hope whenever this thing launches wether revision or switch 2 its releases with a buttload of software. I’m not talking about first party software. I want the COD, I want big name stuff. There is no reason why Nintendo and Nvidia couldn’t have made the tools available for developers to take advantage of. Hopefully there is an excitement from the developers community about this thing. Being able to have modern Nintendo hardware and architecture to create on. If the software isn’t there then my purchase can wait.
there was a CoD on Nintendo consoles and nobody cared

I would love to see a bump in graphics / performance, but my point is the games are entirely enjoyable as they are on the v1/v2 Switch - that said I see "good graphics" as a "nice-to-have", not a necessity for my enjoyment of things. Probably because I grew up playing SNES / N64 / PSX...

Honest question - have you been a Nintendo user for a long time?

You have this starting in October…. And September we will have TGS

The xeno games have a lot of great assets, environment art, etc., being lost at the lowered resolutions, coupled with the pop-in and other issues. They will definitely clean up super well on a new platform.

Seeing some more Funcle rumblings, but two different Funcles kind of cross-validating each other...also, apologies if it's already been discussed like in another thread, but I haven't seen it...

Well... yeah. There's decent value in big open worlds being presented with better frame rate/resolution/draw distance.
Right.... as a heavy big open world game enjoyer, I recognize that. What I'm saying is that the increase in value is limited to performance whereas the game itself has numerous other aspects that make it incredible

Also don't take what I'm saying with that much weight, I'm just mildly irritated by a particular user.

From personal experience, starting up Xenoblade 1 on Wii back in 2012 was my "Time to figure out if my PC can run Dolphin" moment. Too bad every game since then has had lower resolution than Dolphin Xenoblade 1.

Other than Zynga, were there ever any details on what other studios had devkits? Guessing the big guns like Ubi, EA, Capcom, Sega would all have them.

I want deets on what these exclusive games are people have heard about

Outside of Zynga there have been 0 leaks I think, of course the big JP publishers probably have access to them and if they didnt at the moment now do.

Technically iOS broke back compat moving from 32 to 64 bit. 😅
yea, though I think by that time, Nvidia/Nintendo might have some kind of emulation available
Did you have the video?

That is propably more speculation. What they said in the last DF Direct sounded to me that they don't really know anything about the timing of potential hardware.
no, they straight up say "we know there are dev kits out there"

So, no source then.
here you go, darling

I love translating so I will gladly help anytime I can! Also regarding machine translations: sometimes they can be quite accurate but other times they will simply misinterpret or even omit whole sentences. Always good to double check everything (as we have done in this thread so far!)

Do you have a Ko-Fi page/account? Human translations like the one you did are rare and valuable, so if a few dollars of donation by several users here can help and motivate, then please post your Ko-Fi link here 😇

Xenoblade 3 looks damn pretty, I wouldn't mind starting it up now even if a Drake patch comes.

As much as I crave new Switch hardware after years of high-end PC gaming, I think people dissatisfied with Switch IQ on their external displays should make liberal use of their sharpness slider.
Sharpness 0 is recommended for native content (2160p on a 4K display), but turn that baby up for 1080p and below. On an LG CX specifically, I have it set to 20 to allow the upscaler to really kick in and sharpen the image without artifacts.

I have no such advice for the tablet display, sadly.

hopefully the Drake can make the Witcher 3 not look like absolute garbage on a TV
I don’t think this is gonna really help the way you think lol. It would have to be remastered essentially to the old version to be fine imo.

Unless you just want a res and framerate bump?

Witcher 3 is unique because they offloaded a lot of the CPU to the GPU….. hm, offloading to a different aspect of hardware…. Sounds familiar. PS3 anyone?😛🤭

They could be making money on Switch right now. It’s one of the main reasons why internal Bandai studios do not support the Switch. Money means very little if the companies in question don’t care or want to support it.
I'm getting tired of this "internal Bandai Namco studios don't support Switch" talk. There are literally no evidence on this. I don't know who started it but it's bullcrap. On the contrary, there are rumors of how they tried. Imran said their attempt to port Tekken 7 failed as they couldn't reach a satisfying performance. There are 5 "internal" games that skipped switch and but released on every other platform. Minus Tekken it's 4. And I'm saying 2 of 4 will be on Switch, we need more time. Big ports take awful lot of time.
Demon’s Slayer not being on Switch day 1 can only be justified as ‘ideological reasons’ (I prefer to just call it short-sighted business decisions or being stuck in ps2 era, dont think there is a real bias against Nintendo) when we are talking about millions of sales lost due to not being day 1 on Switch.
Demon Slayer is a miracle port (I'm playing right now, it sure is) and we can't expect the game like that day one. CC2 ported the game themselves and did quite a great job. Late ports are a unfortunate truth about Switch but it also means devs are willing to extremes to bring their demanding games to Switch. I for one, am grateful to have stuff like Kakarot or Ninokuni 2 even though I had to wait some serious time.

I don't understand the mentality of those who would come to a speculation thread and gloat because Nintendo have announced a product that isn't the one people are speculating about.

That being said in more team 2022 now.

For whatever reason there exists a segment of Nintendo fans that want them to run their hardware offering into the ground every generation. I will never understand it.

There's just too much smoke for me:
Bloomberg reports
Nate-various reports
Digital Foundry hints
Stockpile increase
now Chinese forums
Other people seemingly in the know (Toto, Doctre)

Splatoon OLED just fits Nintendo perfectly with them wanting to throw people off a little. This is not a new model. It's the OLED with a paint job.
I do think that something is coming in September or October. DLSS hardware to launch around BotW 2.

I wish to believe and while it sounds plausible your post also feels like the best disaster recipe for setting yourself up for immense disappointment 😅 gotta love Nintendo

Still good as gold:

And even shares a reference with the Xeno series in the Dave Bowman memorial room (time 1 hour 23 minutes.)

There will NOT be an upgraded model announce this year.

They just raised the price to the Splatoon OLED model, and will not announce an even more expensive model prior to the holiday season.

Product likely exists, but won't see the light of day until next spring, the earliest.

Wow thanks for saying that, but no I don't have an account and would honestly feel bad to recieve money for this haha
I'm more thankful that I get a reason to practice translation!

yeah im talking just the res. It looks like muddy or a water color painting

lol Nate舅舅 and Emily阿姨
(completely random digression)
Huh, it really is 'uncle'/aunt'. I was kinda expecting/hoping for 'da ge/da jie' ('big bro/big sis'... or 'aniki/aneki' for the otaku among us).
(and specifically it's mother's brother/mother's younger sister)

...while I'm on that train of thought, those of you checking assorted east asian sources, what do Japanese and Korean fanbases use? Oji/Oba-san or Ani/Ane for Japanese? (I don't know uncle/aunt) or Hyung/Noona for Korean?

If you haven't yet, update it, then go into the updated graphical settings, and turn the way too over aggressive AA off. This makes a massive difference in the smeared textures on switch, even though it doesn't affect the resolution, the jaggies introduced are more than worth it to me. The absolute Vaseline destruction of the games textures was way more of an issue to me.

I assumed it was a joke, like "My uncle who works at nintendo," but the Chinese leaker board is referring to Emily and Nate as such.
