StarTopic Future Nintendo Hardware & Technology Speculation & Discussion |ST| (New Staff Post, Please read)

There's a difference between questioning a rumor (which I've never seen anyone scoff at) and saying "it's hilarious and sad to see all this copium" which is a fairly aggressive and mocking statement.
I have seen a lot of scoff but yeah, I guess that it's not as bad as laughing at people.

Every time someone questions a Switch Pro rumor, people scoff and patronize that person.

I've read "You're Not Really Aware of the Evidence" for enough years to know.
Then ignore it. And move on. You act as though you are beholden to this information. You are choosing to do this out of your own volition. If you are going to go into a thread with people speculating and then patronize them but then turn around and get surprised that you got patronized in return, that’s your own calling.

They had the TX1 and then announced the TX1+ models (Lite and V2) shortly after (I believed) the special edition Dragon Quest Switch V1 console was announced.

And you don't feel that you are being just a tad disingenuous here?

TX1+ as you called it was such a minor upgrade Nintendo didn't even care to advertise it as such beyond putting the console in a different box. This has literally nothing in common with Nintendo releasing a console that amounts to a mini XBOX Series S and should have exclusive game(s) on release (at least according to Nate Drake who this forum holds in high regard). Erista to Mariko was an almost completely silent upgrade.

Maybe stop joking around? Let the poster clear everything up seriously so everyone is on the same page
Oh I wasn’t joking. I was asking about what the joke is.
From what i've gotten, the joke seems to be the name "Switch 4K" and them doing patches or something, what Ojoloco was posting about on the last page?
It seemed like it was a misunderstanding on their part.

Maybe not?

We got some leaks bout 4K model. Lots of smoke around that…new soc price tag … this hardware is near and games are being developed for. Stop pretending that this hardware will come sometime 2024 …. Some AA studio received recently new switch documentations and more…

dat dose of reassurance

such as bilibili(niconico-like), weibo(twitch-like), but tencent nintendo is almost worthless, so we see nintendo HK...... lol:ROFLMAO:
Haha, oooh, OK, that makes sense, haha! :ROFLMAO: Thank you!

There's too much floating around, but Nintendo HK on YouTube gave a nugget earlier by adding a brand new Bayonetta 3 playlist out of the blue, but I wasn't sure:

I've never heard of Bilibili, but will have to check it out! Thank you again!

The fact that they fairly consistently have special editions of older models despite newer models with better/different value propositions being announced/released should tell you that they would not hesitate to do this for a "pro" either.

It's a very classic business decision, you prop up the value of your older, less in demand model since you know the demand for the newer model will not have any trouble.

You doubting it despite the fact that they consistently do this extremely logical thing is what's disingenuous.

You keep saying you’re tired of switch pro conversation for years, yet you keep participating in them.
To be fair, we’ve been hearing about the Switch Pro for 4 flippin’ years with the same exact song :

2018 :
It’s coming this year
4k & DLSS ready
You won’t believe it, Billy,
It’s gonna wreck your derrière

2019 :
2019 comes and go
Where the hell is Switch Pro ?
Have you looked at 2020 ?
Ask my uncle Ninty !

2020 :
Here we go it’s the best timeline !
Everyone is ready for covid !
Where the hell is my Switch Pro ?
I suck at rimes so badly…

I can understand if people want to remain skeptical of seemingly random forum posts and insider info, even if they've been right before.

I think anyone doubting the existence of Drake itself, however, is being silly. Regardless of how its positioned, Pro or 2, it's upgraded Nintendo hardware straight from a data breach. At this point we're waiting for it to be announced, not speculating if it exists or not, and if feels like not everyone's on the same page here.

Yeah this is fiction, this never happened.

2019 and 2021 were the only other years it was expected. 2019 we got the rumored new model but it had the same clocks, 2021 Mochizuki confused developer info with production info and we got the OLED model.

It's weird to release a special edition of a console that's about to become obsolete.

You doubting it despite the fact that they consistently do this extremely logical thing is what's disingenuous.

You have this example in 2021:

Nintendo Switch Monster Hunter Rise edition: announced on January 27th for a release 2 months later, on March 26

Nintendo Switch OLED: announced on July 6th for a release 3 months later, on October 8th

There is a difference of ~3 months between the release of that special edition and the announcement of the new model. I don't think that Nintendo consider that users will reckon the model they buy will become obsolete if/when they announce a different model.

soc price tag? I missed that.

Here's how i see it:

Mod uncle might've slipped some jokes into their stuff, like 4K being the name and what not, but the other info like a 2022 release and/or September announcement are "valid" info bits.

They're also not connected with the other uncle who was talking about the backshell production.

Mod uncle posting about the now very real Splatoon OLED gives credence to the other uncle.

Which means Drake stuff is, at least, partially already in production.

Which leads to a 2022 release being possible, maybe even likely.

And could someone tell me already how to do this "only for registered users" post stuff?

Don't even have to go back that far. The Mario Limited Edition Switch, released 5 months before the announcement of the Switch OLED

Nintendo Switch 4K Model alongside BOTW 2 in March 2023 😉

That's about right! :ROFLMAO:

And the tags are (HIDE) and (/HIDE), but replacing the parentheses with brackets like [ ] [ ] ! Really cool forum feature too!

I don't understand the mentality of those who would come to a speculation thread and gloat because Nintendo have announced a product that isn't the one people are speculating about.

That being said in more team 2022 now.

This thread is pretty unreadable with the amount of quoted hidden text posts, so I'll just say this. Nothing about what I've read makes me think this more powerful unit announcement is imminent the same way everything last year made us believe a new unit was inevitable up to the OLED announcement. Personally I feel the time for a Switch pro has passed, and the next piece of hardware Nintendo should announce is the true successor. If a pro really is announced coming in 2023, then when the heck is a true successor even viable? 2025 at the earliest I assume. How many devs are going to make exclusive pro software for a unit that will be obsolete in 2 years?

The OLED has not "broken the barrier". It's a HD display that's less than 9" in size... by your logic, the PS Vita had a "pixelated", "low PPI" display, which is absolute bollocks.
10 years will change expectations for a premium device.

After so many people in this thread talking like 720p at this screen size was some kind of sweet spot I was starting to believe, but getting my Steam Deck has reconvinced me that nope, even much higher tech and half decent AA still leaves some pretty obvious aliasing.
I'm not saying that a 720p 120 Hz OLED displays are impossible. But is Nintendo willing to pay extra money for custom 720p 120 Hz OLED displays? That's the question that needs to be asked.
Seems about as likely as a stereoscopic screen. They're not going to make any extra effort to push a spec beyond current TV norm.
Rendering games above 720p, and then downsampling to 720p, in handheld mode, can negatively impact performance and battery life, as shown with Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition (here and here).
Making heavy use of pretty much any GPU feature is going to hurt other things, but different games go for different balances. That said, supersampling is a pretty inefficient way to do AA, so I don't think many developers would intentionally do that.
It's weird to release a special edition of a console that's about to become obsolete.
shrug They release whole new models of systems that already have successors.
