Tonnes of reasons. Why not ask, why a New 2DS XL? What audience would that be for? Why not buy a regular 2DS?
A new console means production line complexity, that was true when Switch launched and to offset it, they reduced their 3DS Family production complexity by putting everything into one new, cheaper model. It would make sense to do it again.
It's easy to imagine, the OLED is heavily cost and complexity reduced next to the V2. Take a 7" LCD, cost reduce the frame with more plastic, assemble it like the OLED, and discontinue Switch models, now you've hugely simplified your production. The V2 at the very least needs to be repackaged with the Dock with LAN Port to continue being sold, as some original dock parts are discontinued. They could use the same dock circuitboard for the whole line, in theory.
Much like how the 2DS got discontinued, I could well believe them discontinuing all Switch 1 models except for a new cost reduced 200-250$ model next year, and only have to make two consoles rather than three to four.
Such a model would, like NN2DSXL, tick a lot of boxes for customers. Cheap like the Lite, TV mode like the original, big screen like the OLED. It could be cost reduced without reducing appeal.
