Over 900 pages ago now 😳

Let’s see if it’s in the official translation later 😂

Looking forward to the new Nate the Hate episode, hearing Nate and MVG’s takes.

“MVG: Did you hear something about the successor ? Do you think Nintendo is going to release it when it makes the most sense for them ?

Nate: I heard things, I think Nintendo is going to announce the successor when it makes the most sense”

It’s going to be epic

I really do enjoy the podcast, but this is almost dead on. It will be 90 minutes long with practically no new substance. We all want Nate to have the scoop, but I don't think he has that level of inside info. It seems to me the nuggets of info are often delivered in riddles, because there is more often than not a lack of clarity on almost everything.

We'll record our thoughts on the denial and sales tomorrow night.

Scoop on... what? Announcement timing?

Gentle reminder that the HW ST is focused on HW /tech talk. Discussion of the Zelda movie should be done in other, more appropriate venues. - meatbag, Volcanic Dynamo, xghost777
So if Nintendo manage 10 mil more switch sales before April (Reasonable) this will put them at 142 million units sold. DS and Ps2 sit at 155 Million lifetime.

Assuming Nintendo announces the new switch early next year, what do we reckon the odds are that Nintendo can hit the approx 13 million sales of the older hardware to topple the mighty ps2s lifetime sales?

No way they manage it next fiscal year with a new console announced. Maybe 7-9 million sales? So they would need to keep making the original hardware for another year or two in order to do it. Will they do that or will existing partners all be transitioning to manufacture the switch 2?
I think the only realistic chance for the Switch to get to DS and PS2 hardware levels is an official price cut. The PS2 for example started at $299 and eventually saw price reductions all the way to $99. A $129 price versus when the PS3 launch at up to $599 made PS2 even more valuable for price sensitive consumers. Obviously they will not cut the price during the holiday season but perhaps after they announce Switch 2

A live action Zelda movie is perfect. Not everything needs to be animated when you have a good planning and direction, especially for a series like Zelda.

I love how Nintendo just went "You expected the Switch 2. You fools, you morons, you idiots, lol lmao" and dropped this.

At least we got confirmation that Nintendo are going to be doing announcements after this financial report... for however much that's worth.
curveballs is a nintendo tradition 😁

Wait a fucking second isn't this that Zelda announcement Jeff Grubb was talking about
It could be, but as stated previously he didn’t know what it was, so it could also be something entirely different.

Although at this point, this is the most logical explanation.

I assume they revealed that tonight because they talked about it in the investors meeting. Which makes me think that there won't be anything about new hardware in the investor meeting then.

Nintendo is still in the "We don't know her" phase when asked about a Switch successor lol.

What if he debunked the rumors of the VGC's "H2 launch" when saying the reports are inaccurate, he just means it's an H1 launch and Furukawa himself is Team H1

Copium in IV right now

A Zelda movie makes all the remake talk interesting, Nintendo will probably want to release a new 3D Zelda game around the time the movie releases, which makes a Ocarina of time remake to Switch 2 interesting, especially if the movie will be related to Ocarina of time storywise.

I would point you back to the Mario movie, which launched with no tie in game.

I will also say that "in development" without an attached screenwriter could easily be a 5+ year process. Wes Ball spent years working on the Mouse Guard movie that never happened, before jumping at the Planet of the Apes Reboot Sequel Trilogy (Episode One)

I saw someone on my Discord mention it leading in to a Zelda game and I genuinely could not understand the logic of it.

We might have a Mario Wonder situation where a game releases that year with a game to capitalise on sales, but past that? I don't see much else.

That's not all thanks to Switch performance. Hardware-wise, Switch just had its fourth-best first half.

As an early Switch owner, I don't really give a shit whether they announce it today or January or March. I care when I can get it.
I just need to beat everyone else to pre orders

Keep your expectations very low! It will probably do well global box office figures like the 2023 The Super Mario Bros movie. But end up a let down movie wise like The Super Mario Bros movie was.

Wes Ball as the director doesn't fill me with any hope TLOZ movie will turn out a great movie. Just like Aaron Horvath didn't fill me with any hope for the Mario Bros movie. It had potential to be so much better.

I would have preferred like other poster said a Studio Ghibli animated TLOZ movie. Or even a CGI animated TLOZ movie by the excellent Aardman Animations.

But on the upside at least Nintendo are financially doing really well with movies, theme parks etc. As I would rather Nintendo stay independent as a Japanese company, than getting bought out by a western company.
