StarTopic Future Nintendo Hardware & Technology Speculation & Discussion |ST| (Read the staff posts before commenting!)

A pro this late would be scary haha. Pretty much confirms next gen in 2025 or later. Also, would devs bother working to increase performance much on when the OG switch has such a large install base? If it had come sooner, that might have been 2 more years with Ninty games/3rd parties running a bit better, maybe a few more miracle ports. Now it would probably be a 1080p, more stable 30 machine but only for newer games/ports, feels like the opportunity was missed. How many devs would bother with ports to it from current gen, this late in? Even then the current bottleneck is memory bandwidth, so its not like a better gpu will give it an easy magic bonus. Unless they somehow fit some form of DLSS in to a mere pro revision or something, that really feels next gen though.

Apparently NX 2 shows as an option on Nintendo Developer Portal

NX SPECULATION IS BACK ON THE MENU GUYS

EDIT: FFS

I was looking at the chart that has been posted in the thread several times about the power consumption of the A57:

A57-power-curve.png

And the part everyone mostly focused on was that 4 A57 at ~1GHz seem to correspond to 1.83W.

However, I hadn’t paid attention to the other lines of the graph until now in closer inspection.

A single A57 @ 1GHz would consume 0.59W according to this graph, right?

2 A57 @ 1GHz would consume 0.95W

3 A57 @ 1GHz would consume 1.4W
<snip>
For some context, that chart comes from here.

As for why the 1/2/3 A57 power draw aren't exactly a fourth/a half/three fourths of the 4 A57's power draw, I suspect the explanation is in this paragraph:
"Similar to the little core power consumption measurements, we repeat the exercise of trying to isolate power to a single cluster. The problem of threads spilling over to the other cluster is still prevalent: instead of blocking the GTS parameters to force threads to remain on the little cores, I force the mechanism to avoid migrating down processes and make them stay on the big cores. The issue here is that although most processes stay on the big cluster, there's still inevitable activity on the little cores. This is due to core0 of the system being treated as a special case and many kernel-related tasks being forcefully scheduled on that specific core. I expect this overhead to be in the 10-100mW range." (emphasis mine)

WARNING: THIS POST IS ABOUT THE 2016 SWITCH ANNOUNCEMENT AND THERE'S NO INFO ON ANY FUTURE NINTENDO HARDWARE

I stumbled on this article earlier today about a couple of tweets teasing the announcement of the Nintendo Switch literally an hour before Nintendo tweets the infamous NX Mario tweet

One of the tweets was Tom Philipps' here:

and him mentioning Red Dead's trailer made me remember how there's a chance for GTA VI to be released next fiscal year for Take-Two starting April 2024

this led me to thinking that it would be fun if [redacted] gets announced around the same time GTA VI's marketing cycle begins lol
coughs maybe even a launch title for [redacted] coughs

for funsies: the numbers were in favor for Tom to be right and unsurprisingly so because it's a console announcement, Switch trailer got 50 million views and RDR 2 trailer has about 22 million views

There is one currently but with no context & of dubious veracity. Some whispers that could mean something but we’ll just have to wait in due time.

Well, no, they didn’t say expect an announcement before September. They said expect it “sooner rather then later” & “might happen earlier.” They also “assumed” September which was their own speculation. These are all important distinctions when talking about rumours. Otherwise we are engaging in telephone & put undue pressure upon the person who share said information leading to attacking or other nastiness.
There is the wayback machine for anyone brave enough to do some research over previous versions of the internet, assuming the post was canceled.
Did you actually register for a developer account ?

Trolling is fun I guess but can we keep it serious ?

Whether the 4chan leak is real or fake, it still implies a developer risked his NDA to do it, I think everyone can have their own beliefs if it’s real or fake without being talked down, I don’t like this attitude

Next time there is a leak or rumor I’ll add a disclaimer since every post have huge impact here
A simple link, even to something deleted, would have gone a long way.

Seeing the NX2 posted on Twitter and David Gibson retweeting it. It’s so easy to put false information out there and have it spread like wild fire.
I don't really post in here but I just wanted to comment that this is how I found out about NX2 lol.

David Gibson retweeted it and I got excited and rushed to Fami and read through the whole drama this thread experienced.

All I can say is yeeeesh lol.

Love cognitive bias.

1. Post an image of a place crowded with fakes, and assume it really has a chance to be legit because reasons.
2. Post a tweet of a dataminer that says that she doesn't believe the image is true, but that maybe they're realeasing a new console "sooner rather than later".
3. Use that tweet as a proof that you were right, even though it explicitly says you're not.
4. Post a second tweet of that same person, who argues why this console would sell well, with nothing about it regarding the previous topics, only refering to why they think it could be a good idea to release it soon.
5. Use it again to proof that you were right, and as so your image must be true.
6. Literally avoid the tweet between those two, in which explicity says that the image is most probably fake. You have 100% read them, but you decided to scrap it because it doesn't fit your mental narrative.

Either they're a troll or this is an extremely clear warning to take a step back and don't jump into conclusions.

I got duped by that red dead when I saw the opening act of the direct that shows a cowboy trying to shoot each other..

Regardless of any info, real, fake, imagined, this whole arc ends within two weeks. Either a July announcement happens or a September announcement happens (in which case H1 2024 release occurs.)

If both don't happen, Nintendo may as well hold off till 2025 and release a better console because by Holiday 2024 I'll be expecting Switch 3 to start development.

I didn't see it before it was deleted, what did it say?
Retweeted one of the tweets about the developer page saying: Algunos tenían dudas, creo que esto despeja muchas de esas dudas…

Or

Some had doubts, I think this clears up many of those doubts...

Basically trying to validate their own rumours with fake stuff lol

Would pay money for a version of this thread with just posts from the oldpucks, Thraktors and fwd-bwd-s of the world being visible.
By the way, for some reason the 2016 Switch Reveal trailer was in my YouTube recommended feed yesterday. Spoooooky.

Got excited when I woke up to 8 pages to read…

I don’t know if discussing illegitimate leaks is better than nothing, but at least it does get a bit exciting until it’s quickly debunked (unless people post it on Reddit / Twitter and then it’s a nuisance more than anything).

While a quick announcement -> release turnaround is probably better for Nintendo, we’re at the stage where I wish they’d just put us out our misery - even if we’re waiting another 12-18 months to actually get our hands on it.

I am really confused.

In this thread I see a lot of talk about how easy it is to fake a leak.

This morning I saw a news article about a supposed NX2 leak where there are scroll wheels on the trigger buttons.

Is there correlation between the 2?

They won't announce a new console in september, it's either this month for a september/october release or next year. Otherwise why bother releasing Mario Wonder which will both move a lot of software and hardware during the holidays.

Its been 10 hours no reputable gaming sites have contributed about that image, so it's probably fake.

We are so desesperate to get information and leaks that there are people who want to believe any false insider or any 4chan leak.

We need some shit leaked like the new switch case color before we lose our minds
