It means “do not expect CoD at all.”So, what does this mean for that Call of Duty deal with Nintendo?
Nintendo may have a better mutual relationship with Microsoft, but that cannot be said for ABK. Likewise for EA.

Low-hanging fruit aside about the terrible incest, i do wonder how many of these comments we're going to get with the extremely high amount of sexism/pro-monarchism/eugenics-is-actually-supergood on the whole shaky plot (curiously, no one has pointed it out yet here). Really curious to see how much apologism we're going to get when its out eventually...probably not as bad as edelgard discourse (but no more palatable, for sure!)Genealogy of the Holy War is still considered one of the best entries in the series and was never released in the West so a remake makes a lot of sense and probably wouldn't need as much development time as a brand new entry.
Nintendo's main franchises are all either openly in favour of sustaining a monarchy, even when it causes great unrest (Mario, Zelda), uncritical of monarchy to the point of monarchy and unintentional self-parody (Fire Emblen, pick any, say, Three Houses, Dimitri's self-centredness and lack of self awareness especially.), or feature a world where extraterritorial corporate land ownership is seen as the peaceful ideal (Animal Crossing).Low-hanging fruit aside about the terrible incest, i do wonder how many of these comments we're going to get with the extremely high amount of sexism/pro-monarchism/eugenics-is-actually-supergood on the whole shaky plot (curiously, no one has pointed it out yet here). the Activision Blizzard deal need to be aproved for Call of Duty to be released on Nintendo consoles, Microsoft cant release Call of Duty on Switch or it sucessor, without market regulators like CMA/FTC aproving the purchase of Activision Blizzard Microsoft, without Activision Blizzard owned by Microsoft, no Call of Duty on Nintendo consoles.the 10 year deal won't happen, but Call of Duty on Drake is still pretty likely
yet they won't allow unique Toads smhThey allow references (even acts) of genocide and child abuse in MARIO games (Origami King)
I'm not arguing whether or not Nintendo is going to do stories or remakes with more mature themes or whatnot, we've literally just gotten xenoblade 3 and that game already touches on a lot of that. What my issue is with the nasty stinky bits already ingrained in the story and the consistent ignorance whenever that story is brought up as being "heavily good" albeit with its flaws right there.Nintendo's main franchises are all either openly in favour of sustaining a monarchy, even when it causes great unrest (Mario, Zelda), uncritical of monarchy to the point of monarchy and unintentional self-parody (Fire Emblen, pick any, say, Three Houses, Dimitri's self-centredness and lack of self awareness especially.), or feature a world where extraterritorial corporate land ownership is seen as the peaceful ideal (Animal Crossing).
I don't think a more extreme version of "enforce the status quo, by violence if necessary" is outside of their wheelhouse even for their casual games, while Three Houses (albeit obliquely) has several themes and events darker than Genealogy. I know people here, of all sites, would be aware Nintendo isn't just in the business of publishing family friendly faire, but a publisher who publishes across the spectrum from literal baby games (think Electroplancton) to what is essentially softcore with action elements (Bayonetta.).
They allow references (even acts) of genocide and child abuse in MARIO games (Origami King), I don't think a Fire Emblem having a standard-issue problematic plot is the biggest concern for them.
Activision can always just decide to release COD on Drake even without the Microsoft buyout. They'll stretch Princess Peach' paper pooper out so far it acts like pink stained glass (they actually do this), but put a hat on a Toad and you're about to be forced into "Voluntary Resignation" by management.yet they won't allow unique Toads smh

And i would argue FE4's story to be way more problematic than any of the examples you've given. Sure, it's not going to stop them from remaking it anyway. Just not looking forward to all the discourse.
They won’t.Activision can always just decide to release COD on Drake even without the Microsoft buyout. Only reason why the Switch never got it is because of power reasons
Why not?They won’t.
and they won't because...?They won’t.
I never understood that since the Wii's much more limited power didn't prevent it from receiving several Call Of Duty titles, whose sales figures were actually good.Activision can always just decide to release COD on Drake even without the Microsoft buyout. Summer DirectBarring new hardware, I can't think of a compelling reason why we haven't heard about any of this new software yet. Not even their holiday title.
I like this post.I'm not sure what the big deal is with NERD's job offer (which, by the way, is easily accessible in French by changing "EN" to "FR" in the filename in the url).
I mean, of course Nintendo is going to have a next generation system at some point, and it's especially true after more than 6 years with the Switch.
NERD has also worked on emulation for systems like NES/SNES Mini iirc, or even the recent Mario/Zelda Game&Watch (not sure for those), it's always best to think of all possibilities when "other Nintendo systems" are mentioned.
The French document also doesn't explicitly talk about new generations, just mentions "future Nintendo platforms" which can be another Game&Watch or a Mini console or even something else.
Of course, I'm deliberately posting in a pessimist way to temper expectations and such, I think we should never jump to conclusions too quickly even from an official Nintendo document and especially for NERD, even considering what they worked on before.
I just don't think it confirms something we didn't know, except maybe some kind of cross-platform but that could just be for NSO stuff.
If anything, this job offer actually worries me because it feels a bit late and could indicate that we won't even have a reveal this year, or am I mistaken?
They won’t.
I know this is not the place to go off on Fire Emblem but I have no idea what this is in reference to, is there a TLDR?probably not as bad as edelgard discourse (but no more palatable, for sure!)
That's not true at all - ABK has brought pretty much everything to Switch they could except of CoD.It means “do not expect CoD at all.”
Nintendo may have a better mutual relationship with Microsoft, but that cannot be said for ABK. Likewise for EA.
They are going to make an awful port for [REDACTED] and then give up.Just because Nintendo can’t get CoD through Microsoft because of the potential merger stopping doesn’t mean they can’t get CoD through Activision
It might at least until the deal is dead.Just because Nintendo can’t get CoD through Microsoft because of the potential merger stopping doesn’t mean they can’t get CoD through Activision
Lenin was also a revolutionist asshole. He ordered killing the czar and his whole family. He also introduced the whole Cheka, the proto-KGB, who then executed the Red Terror, which killed around 200,000 Russians, just because he got paranoid after an assassination attempt. Just because Stalin was even worse, it does not make him a glorious revolutionary war leader. Talking about communist revolutionists, I would rather compare her with Fidel Castro.Edelgard is very controversial as she's a realistic depiction of a revolutionary war leader and is probably comparable to like Lenin.
Her methods are brutal and her allies extremely bad, but it's possible it will lead to a better outcome simply because the status quo is so bad.
I don't see a reason why they wouldn't try to bring COD over, if REDACTED can reach PS4 level of performance. The problem with the Switch COD is, its too hard and takes too much time, with just a relative low return of investment. COD sales are e.g. soo high, because the Multiplayer is so popular, Switch Network infrastructure is not the best. So I can totally understand that Activision is not trying to port it, just to see it fail. A REDACTED with easier port of the SP mode and at least more modern network infrastructure for the MP would be likely an easier sell to Kotic and board.Just because Nintendo can’t get CoD through Microsoft because of the potential merger stopping doesn’t mean they can’t get CoD through Activision

I think we'll see more physical releases on at least 32GB cartridges in the future, as The Witcher 3 did very well using those without being asked. Totk, which is apparently over 16GB, will be in this case very soon. A game like Xenoblade Chronicles X, a likely candidate for a port in the coming years, was also already over 16GB on Wii U. With 32GB or even 64GB game cartridges on the next console, it will be harder for Activision to use this argument no matter what.CoD probably skipped the Switch because the carts were small.
The big issue for the Switch 2 and CoD is that the carts will probably still be small.
Network infrastructure has nothing to do with console hardware. Is there any reason to think Nintendo will improve it substantially?Lenin was also a revolutionist asshole. This isn't the problem for CoD. People seem to have the wrong idea about what sucks about Nintendo online and what is actually required for a working online gameSwitch Network infrastructure is not the best. You don't think Nintendo will use the chance for a new system to at least make some changes in their online gaming infrastructure? They are slow, but they also know this could be a feature they could integrate into their online service. Or alternatively at least better integration into cloud gaming.Network infrastructure has nothing to do with console hardware. Is there any reason to think Nintendo will improve it substantially?
What about their infrastructure prevents cod but not something like fortnite or overwatch or apex? No, not necessarily. They could do that now, on their current system. You don't think Nintendo will use the chance for a new system to at least make some changes in their online gaming infrastructure? They need to justify the hardware and software for $450i don't believe price will be an issue even if it's $450 there will be enough demand to sell as many units they can produce for the first year or two. if i was Nintendo i'd start on the higher end and monitor demand before considering a price cut. there probably isn't a single person at the 'enthusiast' level who wouldn't fork out $500 if the games look good enough. this is why it's a bit frustrating that we're still waiting (presumably on the games) as people would pay a premium to get this thing now. even if it was just to play Zelda in 4k etc.
Activision Blizzard can certainly make cod games on Nintendo consoles without needing Microsoft. It's just not guaranteed now. But it's much more likely to be on switch 2 then on switch. performance and porting shouldn't much of an issue like they would have been on Switch, as long as they are supporting last gen and aren't pushing the CPU too hard on current gen hardware.the Activision Blizzard deal need to be aproved for Call of Duty to be released on Nintendo consoles, Microsoft cant release Call of Duty on Switch or it sucessor, without market regulators like CMA/FTC aproving the purchase of Activision Blizzard Microsoft, without Activision Blizzard owned by Microsoft, no Call of Duty on Nintendo consoles.
As someone with Cuban heritage, I wouldn't use the word "glorious" to describe Castro, either. Like, he was a dictator, and I'd hate to see that papered over by the "communist revolutionary" thing.Lenin was also a revolutionist asshole. He ordered killing the czar and his whole family. He also introduced the whole Cheka, the proto-KGB, who then executed the Red Terror, which killed around 200,000 Russians, just because he got paranoid after an assassination attempt. you have to remember that the switch's battery is low density. it's size isn't reflecting its capacity. there are denser and smaller batteries out there that nintendo could use, though, of course, they weigh more and have a higher heat densityIf the switch 2 has exactly the same size as the current switch, what is the best viable possibility we could expect for the battery in terms of watts hour? I saw the ayaneo air is 4mm thicker than the switch oled and a bit smaller in the rest (223.9×89.4x 18mm VS 242×102×13.9mm) with a 28Wh battery (7350mAh * 3.8v). The air pro is 21.6mm in thickness and a 38Wh (maintaining the same size in the rest).
If we want the total system power to be like 10W, we would need a 30Wh battery for the same 3 hours battery life from the OG switch (which is what I'm personally expecting nintendo to do). It is seeming inviable to me to have such a battery retaining the same form factor. Or are you people expecting like 6W total system draw for a 18Wh battery keeping the OLED dimensions?
Is there a ~30Wh handheld with the same form factor of the switch while still having active cooling?
Of course, we could speculate nintendo is going to increase the dimensions for the switch 2, but that's not my point for now.
With a 64GB cart and thanks to upscalling techniques, a lot of things serms possible. They need to justify the hardware and software for $450

I imagine switch 2's online infrastructure will be better. But I think the game storage size would be the biggest issue. $70 on a 32-64 GB cart? With a partial download from eShop.. or would they dare make it online only?
Technically it's not, but the most likely time nintendo would actually make big improvements to network infrastructure is when launching a new console.Network infrastructure has nothing to do with console hardware. Is there any reason to think Nintendo will improve it substantially?

higher density batteries are more expensive, but going higher isn't going to break the budget. and they can go denser and keep the system size the same. it's just going to be heavierIs a high density battery much more expensive? Could they have had one on the switch keeping the exact same size?
It won't be pulling 10 watts in portable mode. I expect about 5-7 watts of power draw in portable
not them, but 7W would mean they need to go as low as they can pay for. the size of the chip already implies 4N, and that would allow for some decent clocksWhat node and clocks are you expecting then?
not them, but 7W would mean they need to go as low as they can pay for. the size of the chip already implies 4N, and that would allow for some decent clocks
here you have clocks on Samsung 8nm, 6W in portable modeI'm trying to understand what is really viable at the same size of the switch. I know it's impossible know what the T239 would draw at 4N, so let's just speculate. You think it's viable to have the switch size, with a battery life of 3 hours for - let's say - the next 3D zelda, if they go with the 4N node? I don't even remember anymore the power consumption of the orin (just the SoC) using that tool. Is it a possibility to have the T239 drawing only 7W? What could be the clock in this scenario?
Like I said, they could make the switch 2 bigger, but I want to ignore this path for now.
