Wonder how pretty a version Drake will be able to pull off at 60fps.The new Drake barometer will drop today. Fortnite is getting UE5.1 features including lumen and nanite. Series and ps5 will feature them in 60fps and off at 120fps mode. Fortnite on Switch runs at 30fps, so maybe Drake can do the same with lumen enabled?

Fortnite Battle Royale is now on Unreal Engine 5.1. Nanite, Lumen, Virtual Shadow Maps, and Temporal Super Resolution are available in-game. Read more!www.epicgames.com
I believe this launch ahead of time to have units on shelves will be the case but I don't think the regulars would like to see me do another repost of the list of reasons the new console will launch before May.What sucks for me is I'm definitely going to take off work for the new Zelda but if it launches with new hardware, I most likely won't have that hardware day and date. I'm planning on playing that shit from 12am - 4am then sleep and start the cycle anew.
Maybe they launch the console a few weeks in advance so people can actually get it. Hopefully.
in the next several days, I'm sure people will test how low they can go. but in the meantime, here's a 1060 running with RTWonder how pretty a version Drake will be able to pull off at 60fps.
I can't see less than 2 months between announcement and release.Yeah, exists the possibility that the Switch drake can be release with other game (for example, Pikmin 4 or Metroid Prime remake and third party flagship games) before may, and release later a bundle with TotK in May
You've heard it here first people, Microsoft plans on porting an exclusive version of Death-loop to the Drake Switch model with VR integration that leads players back to the worst Famiboards doom posts about the Drake Switch! Talk about breaking the 4th wall...Tales from the Nintendo Loop
I like Switch Advance but I prefer Switch 2 or Switch Gen 2. One of the reasons is because of continuity, what would they call the next gen Switch after the "Switch Advance" assuming there is a next gen Switch after it? And this also applies to any suffix or prefix. I'm afraid we might fall into XBox naming territory if so... Which is not outright terrible but still...Switch Advance
I can't see less than 2 months between announcement and release.
Announcement mid or late january and release alongside Zelda is the earliest I can see.

To be clear: I'm not saying whether something has or has not changed from earlier this yr or from Oct '21. As said previously, when I am given enough confirmation, I'll share/report what I'm currently chasing down.I think people should just be safe in the knowledge that nothing Nate knows (or in my case heard) has changed since earlier this year outside the launch being delayed from H1 to H2 '23.
No new major details doesn't mean there's not things happening but between the NV leak, Nate's info (and my info if people want to take my word for it) we pretty much know what to expect and when to expect it (Zelda launch imo).
I guess people are just bored with no new info. Go play some games nerds !!

To spite anyone that has been dooming hardware for 2024 but waiting at the edge of their seats for TOTK in 2023, Nintendo will now delay Zelda indefinitely.Nate, do you think Zelda will definitely come out in May?
Don't see why it wouldn't.Nate, do you think Zelda will definitely come out in May?
I don't think a Zelda game has ever been delayed after being given a firm release date. In fact I feel like you can count on one hand how many times that has ever happened to any Nintendo game.Nate, do you think Zelda will definitely come out in May?
Don't see why it wouldn't.
it probably is when it's the target and the expense of everything else. if that means a game with greatly simplified art, then that's just gonna have to be the concessionThanks for the vid. I really hope Lumen is possible at 60fps.
I have to ask, has the significant developments been something that would upend our speculation ? or is it simply nailing down exact specs and clocks? To be clear: I'm not saying whether something has or has not changed from earlier this yr or from Oct '21. I assume you're talking about the hardware, but can you vaguely say if it's related to hardware, software, or both?To be clear: I'm not saying whether something has or has not changed from earlier this yr or from Oct '21. I can assure you I wasnโt being aggressive. Iโm sorry if it came across that way.I'm not expecting anything. Don't think a reconstructed 1080p is unthinkable after seeing how much Splatoon 3 improved after Splatoon 2 though.
Also your tone is kinda aggressive, not sure why I deserved that.
Because we asked, and heโs a member of this community. Is it on purpose to say: "I have some significant info, but I can't tell for now".
So why don't wait until you can share?
Please note that he never actually said that. At all.Is it on purpose to say: "I have some significant info, but I can't tell for now".

Not true. He's been mute for weeks and now said that without asking. Of course he's a member and he has right to say whatever. But he knows how thw community reacts to his posts and I don't know. Maybe juat wait and don't say anything until you can. But I say it with respect.Because we asked, and heโs a member of this community.
the prompt was someone wondering if he was going to cover it in his podcast and he basically said he can't yetIs it on purpose to say: "I have some significant info, but I can't tell for now".

Yeah, I completely agree with you. I was saying logic may suggest that it's too early, based on Furukawa's words. But because the successor and the original can coexist, a successor coming out does not impeded on the 8-10 year life cycle of the OG Switch. Is it too early for a full-on successor? The earliest this thing could possibly launch is right around six years since the launch of the original. That's not too early for a successor system in Nintendo's book. The Wii U came out six years after the Wii, the 3DS came out six years and three months after the DS, and the Switch came out six years after the 3DS. I think they're probably going to play this a little differently, but not because it hasn't been enough time for a true successor.
This is about where I'm at. "Nintendo Switch Series 2" or something. They're not going to abandon the current Switch logo or branding.
Oh yeah. I was talking about Fortnite actually to be clear.it probably is when it's the target and the expense of everything else. if that means a game with greatly simplified art, then that's just gonna have to be the concession
If I remember correctly,Yeah, I completely agree with you. I was saying logic may suggest that it's too early, based on Furukawa's words. But because the successor and the original can coexist, a successor coming out does not impeded on the 8-10 year life cycle of the OG Switch.
that sounds like something NateDrake told us. when we found out that Orin had RT cores, he revealed that Drake had them but battery life wasn't good in handheld mode
they would have to simplify the asset shaders considerably then. maybe diffuse only textures. I question if they could even do nanite. virtual shadow maps are out of the question as well. reflections? maybe low res SSROh yeah. I was talking about Fortnite actually to be clear.
in my opinion, I still think we'll see RT in handheld mode. at 60fps? that's very much up to the game and the techniques used, but not impossible. I think people should be ready to be at least somewhat disappointed in the RT used. like RT shadows or RT reflections and the like. RTGI is more transformative, but at 60fps, might be an ask. 30fps, definitely doable thoughI recall the RT Nate thing. This was before that, and it was some translated source. I think the fact that it didnโt stick here meant itโs probably a rumor not worth repeating.
Regardless my second question stands - do we see any limits on its use in handheld? DF raised concerns a while ago before much was known about the chip on whether it could be used for 60 fps in handheld (I think). Is that still a concern?

oh. well, there are ways to make a faster version of DLSS that has less quality. I still maintain that unless properly tests it, it's hard to say how well it scales beyond theoreticalsI was actually talking about DLSS use cases as per my original post. But interesting to hear regardless.
If docked/undocked works at all similarly to how it does on Switch, it doesn't make much sense that DLSS should have a problem in portable. With Switch in portable the GPU goes to half speed (more or less) and compensates by lowering resolution. If anything it seems like the resolution gap between docked and undocked will be BIGGER this time around, so anything resolution-related you'd think wouldn't be a problem to go portable unless they decided to cut GPU speed to 10% or something.Regardless my second question stands - do we see any limits on its use in handheld? If you meant specifically the timestamp in the link, that's Ultra Performancing 640x480, so still only 1/3 of a 720p resolution. The first minute of the video has some Ultra Performance 720p going on. But it's hard to imagine many games beyond the future Arks (original Switch version) going to even that extreme often.Just mostly out of curiosity, I tried playing this video on my Switch OLED to see what Ultra Performance DLSS would look like on an 8-inch 720p screen (albeit with video compression, but I tried my best to get around that by playing it at 1080p so it would down sample at least a bit).
It's... well unsurprising, not great. It honestly just looks like how impossible ports look on the Switch right now.
As far as I know, it is produced by Samsung process after Tegra (for Switch).
Nvidia Tegra AP is manufactured with Samsung 7nm?
If what I heard is not distorted, is it Tegra T239 Anyway, I'll use that model name as a tentative name.
T239 will be mass-produced with Samsung 7nm. Not EUV.
Suddenly, I wonder if Samsung had a non-EUV 7nm, but I think it might have been refined because I remembered that the 8nm LPU was not used as an actual process.
I'm not entirely sure, I could be wrong.
I'm going to refer back to the post I've made almost 2 months ago for the second link. Here is a different person's post than the one I posted before.

As far as I know, Samsung's 7 nm** process node has been using EUV lithography, not DUV lithography, from the beginning (here and here).
The only way Samsung's 7 nm** (DUV) process node being used could make some sense is if the same 7 nm** process node used to fabricate the Exynos 9825 is the one being mentioned there, which uses EUV lithography, but is fundamentally not very different from Samsung's 8LPP process node.

Time to turn notifications for this thread off, I guess.
Many games also sacrificed framerate or some Fidelity instead of resolution. If docked/undocked works at all similarly to how it does on Switch, it doesn't make much sense that DLSS should have a problem in portable.
