I'm agreed with this, and I'd like to see more games get the treatment things like Dread and Breath of the Wild got, with YouTube uploads about their conceptualisation and development.

That being said, I'm not in favour of this approach for Directs. If we get 5 minutes a time with games, and those are games I'm not interested in, it rapidly becomes dull. The advantage of the current format is that I'm more likely to see several things I like or am interested in, and that any lulls are usually over quickly because of the pace and variety of the event.

The Direct format doesn't need to change for Nintendo to spend more time shining a spotlight on creators.

This is fair. The only thing that I really want to die are Headlines. Why show a game for 20 seconds?
 
Nate I don't think has interest in leaking the Mario Kart DLC. Sylux, mayhaps, but at this rate I've resigned myself to waiting for September for any substantial news of interest to me.

At least we have Bayonetta 3 and Pokemon release dates

Yeah just put them in the short teaser reel 30 games in rapid succession if you wanna do the 20 sec thing.

Thats how I feel too. Give me a well paced direct with more in depth content outside of it.
Like all the E3 developer directs for example.

Depending on where "modern" starts (some say 3D is modern, some say the boost gameplay is true modern), yeah. Adventure, Unleashed, Colors, and Generations are some of my favorites. They kinda skip around for me. I tend to like every.. second or third modern Sonic game. 😅

For me modern because I’m a zoomer by this forum standards means post generations (because that was the last Sonic I bought in PC physical)

well, unless you literally exclusively mean modern to mean release date in which case sonic mania would confusingly be defined as a modern sonic game and if you have not played it you should ;)
 
There aren't many gaming related things as unexciting as a new Musou game. There I said it. I loathe Musou.

So. Developed by Koei Tecmo of course but with huge collaboration within EPD 5 since they know Splatoon franchise the best. The game is called Splatoon: ink or swim. The game has full story mode, with cutscenes, the basic gameplay is very similar to other Warriors games but this time with Splatoon setting. You ink or swim through various enemies, and it's not just octorians or salmonoids but plenty of others enemy types are introduced as well. Maps are big and the game is semi-open world, more like open air. Online battles are present too, with various modes when you can play with 7 other players and ink or swim through this big enemy enviroment. Think of like Salmon Run but with plenty more to do, with quests in it. Other modes are present too. The game is also playable in full local co-op. Will you ink or swim? Splatoon: ink or swim will launch in 2024.

at least they don't come at the cost of anything else and simultaneously (in recent years) have acted as great expansions + fan service for series in their off-years
