It was some hot coffee and then Astral Chain for me.

Boy, am I glad I picked that one up in the sale. I skipped it when it came out because the art style didn't float my boat, but that was a huge mistake. I am loving it.

Astral Chain is one of the most underrated Switch games imo. My partner and I both played through that whole game. The combat also looks so cool.

Trying to complete my Animal Crossing New Horizons museum. I’m down to just three fish and seven bugs (missing the Golden Stag, Horned Hercules, and the Walking Stick this month). I have all the fossils, sea creatures, and art work.

Yeah, it's fantastic! It has the usual PlatinumGames style in presentation and combat, but it throws some nicely done curveballs into the mix with the investigation and Astral Plane sequences. It's also a very polished game, and the story seems to be going in an interesting direction (I am up to File 6).

I kind of agree with this! It could even take the Switch's cartridges for all we know! There's lots of things they can definitely carry over and still be able to call it a new console for sure! Personally, I'm sitting here dumbfounded by the literal THOUSANDS of games on the Switch eShop and can't help but think there'd be no way they'd throw all that back catalog away. (A lot, yeah, maybe, but all of it?!) They've done it in the past with other consoles, yeah, but boy, what a selling point to have all these games accessible! I definitely love the Switch, and there's a lot they can do with the idea while doing new things, whether it's sheer power, screen sizes/types, joycon changes, dock abilities, peripherals, VR, etc.

Good morning from the east coast(NA)! Sounds like an amazing morning!

I just finished breakfast and coffee with the family, somewhat sleepy after last night playing a bit to much of Strikers Battle League and finishing it up with level 3 of Sin & Punishment: Star Successor. Ended up going to bed later than expected 😅

We are about to take the kiddos to the Zoo, hopefully get some Switch time in during naps. Switch Sports sounds nice, maybe the wife and I can get some bowling in during that timeframe!

Yup. A preview drop is a nice easy marketing/PR calendar-filler, so if they’re dropping two games worth of previews in one week, especially for two games with similar target demos, it must be because something more important is happening next week.

That was a chore, but well worth having the full collection in the end! Wife and I worked real hard to make that happen, haha, and sometimes certain things just seem like they refuse to appear! July's a pretty abundant month for things though, so good luck!

I do music and vocal (well, voice over for podcasting, haha) editing and such. I also write music too, but need to get back into my own stuff soon. Haha, and look at you knowing about the Sennheisers! :ROFLMAO: What's funny is that I have a pair and love them, but they're kind of my "finishing" pair. For a lot of "bulk" work, I use about the cheapest pair of headphones ever, haha, they say MPOW on them, but they are really comfortable and have OK sound, especially for the cost! Fine enough to doing a lot of the big edits and general things before bringing in the big guns!:ROFLMAO:

Xenoblade previews are a great reminder that I'm not at all into RPGs. It looks fantastic for fans of the genre though.

Slightly off topic but in just so excited to share, according to multiple previews, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 looks and plays sublime on both docked and handheld mode, example from Polygon preview:


While numbers, aggro lines, and AoE effects can clutter the screen, the Switch itself is up to the task. Monolith Soft has clearly figured out how to optimize its engine for not just frame rate, but for graphic fidelity as well. There's evidently still adaptive resolution at play (and I'm not entirely sure what the pixel count is while the console is docked), but characters and UI elements possess a level of graphic fidelity only reserved for cinematics in past games.

The same is true even in handheld mode. While resolution is clearly reduced, the compromises in image quality between character models, backgrounds, and particle effects are juggled successfully, creating a more balanced viewing experience. Moreover, the game almost always holds at 30 frames per second in combat — while docked or in handheld

We’ll have to see how the Switch holds up when, say, fighting in larger settings with more ambient particle effects against multiple foes while Interlinking. But the point is that, for perhaps the first time, it feels as if Monolith Soft’s scope and ambition aren’t constrained. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 doesn’t look like it’s straddling its hardware’s — or its developer’s — limits"
