...oh. I understand now.

I thought that one of the listed games was a "soggy grilled cheese" and the other an ostensibly superior (and presumably made with real cheese) "cheese toastie"
cheese toastie and grilled cheese are the same thing

I'll go ahead with my predictions / hopes for the fun of it.

September 14 Nintendo Direct:

-Opener is the new Peach game. Nice, average-sized trailer that showcases some nice gameplay. Dated for February 2024.
-Headline: F-Zero is back with F-Zero 99. Brief look and description of gameplay. Look forward also to Maximum Velocity and GP Legend on NSO. And...! After a fade to black, F-Zero GX Remastered is shown in all its glory. F-Zero 99 is a shadowdrop, as are the NSO games, while GX comes digitally and physically November 2023.
-Headline: Mario vs. Donkey Kong. A very different kind of title from previous ones - not sure how, but I expect something bigger and more varied in gameplay. Releasing sometime early 2024.
-Stuff in between: Mario RPG, Mario Wonder, lots of third-party content I won't bother getting into, updated NSO roadmap that is headlined by DK64 (DK fans need SOMETHING substantial, and this will do!).
-Closer is Metroid Prime 4. An incredible minute-long teaser that excites all of us greatly. Game releases May 2024; at the end of trailer, Prime 2 + 3 HD are shadowdropped as a double pack and individually on eshop, with a physical release coming December 2023.

Several rumored or confirmed things I think will be no-shows: Zelda WW / TP, Luigi's Mansion 1 / 2, any Fire Emblem (wouldn't be too surprised to see this make it, though), Paper Mario TTYD (this is my favorite game ever and I badly want it to exist, but it's too close to Mario RPG), Kid Icarus, Smash Bros...

Anyone else think that only the first xenoblade was good. Every game after that was weird... The systems were off.
opposite first one was the worst. and its systems were weird.

it also has the worst overall story for me, but thats becuase i relate ot the themes in 2 and 3 so mmuhc and 1 doenst really have as important themes.

if this a end of generation Direct, Nintendo should anounce everything we wanted for Switch, all the games we want for Switch should be here, let end Switch with bombshell after bombshell anouncement(Metroid Prime 4, Hollow Kinght Silksong, Gensin Impact, the rumored 2D/3D Donkey Kong game, Wind Waker/Twilight Princess HD, Fire Emblem 4 remake, anounce all this on next Direct abd Switch will end in a bombshell)
Actually speaking of Genshin Impact? I suppose that switch version is cancelled because we haven’t heard anything about it since its initial announcement. Maybe a switch 2 game hmm

Ah Genshin impact mention time for me to write a 5 page essay about Genshin impact (I ussualy just avoid discussing it online cause so many people have no clue what it really is)

Prime 4 is the game everybody here wants the most, I’m curious as to what they would be willing to trade it for
I’d trade Metroid Prime 4 for just about anything. I’m sure it’ll be a good game but I truly couldn’t care less about it.

Not at all, I think the battle systems in 2 are sublime. 1 is my least favorite to play

I should've known those blokes and mates were responsible. American terminology can be pretty boring compared to the way they refer to things.

put the kettle on <<<<<<< boil the jug

I'd rather them do a new franchise or take on a major spinoff of a Nintendo franchise. I couldn't get into any of them after the first. Maybe at least make an action rpg next.

I know somewhat about it I heard it’s getting an anime adaptation too but I guess that’s a switch 2 game because it sure as hell ain’t hitting the switch anymore lol just save it for the next switch

This board is definitely more favorable towards XC2 and XC3 (hell, I am too) but there's plenty of people out in the wild that share that sentiment. XC1 generally seems to be the least controversial, very few dislike it. Those that like XC2 and/or XC3 generally seem to feel stronger about them though.

After Metroid and F-Zero eat well in the near future, Nintendo must go back to their fantastic furry franchises in Donkey Kong and Star Fox and give them much-needed love again.

I'm gonna bring some balance to the table; all three main Xenoblade games are like really, really great RPGs...IMO. Among my favorite franchises.

My expectations wasn’t to have a new DK game here because of Mario Wonder. So I’m more cool with Mario vs DK. Maybe it’ll go back to its roots like fans wanted. Let’s just hope for the best Mario vs DK game they can make, since it has been a while. Something high quality which more people would want to play. And have a brand new DK game announced next year.

Do I think only the first Xenoblade was good? No.

Do I prefer the battle system, world, lore, twists, and general vibes of the first Xenoblade to those of the rest of the series? mmmmm... yea

Shout-out to XB3 for having by far the best cast though

I 100% with agree with that, I think people forget the early Mario vs Donkey Kong games were full retail releases, they only became eShop trash later. With how big the gap in titles has been I could easily see the next Mario vs Donkey Kong being a much grander affair than most are actually expecting.

(I call it trash jokingly for the record, honestly they're all pretty good games for what they are.)
Several rumored things I think will be no-shows: ___ Luigi's Mansion 1,.
Unless something leaked while I was asleep I don't think anyone has actually rumored the OG Luigi's Mansion in anyway, All I've seen are people assuming Nintendo might shadowdrop a basic port of Luigi's Mansion GCN to coincide with the release of 2 a la Pikmin. Considering the 3DS port had some additions, mainly a multiplayer mode that I'd note could really benefit from being put on to a more powerful system I just don't see this happening.

If Ninty wants to go super crazy, they could make “Rhythm Hell”, a spin-off of Rhythm Heaven but the only difference is that you have to do the minigames with no sound.

I would pay exactly 5 dollars for that experience.

I wonder how much play order has to do with attachment. For example, I played the games in the order they released on Switch (2 => 1 => 3), and 2 was much more memorable to me than 1. For me, I think it comes down to personal story resonance, as I think I connected more to the story of 2 + Torna than the story of 1 + Future Connected or 3 + Future Redeemed.

To answer your question, you're not alone in that opinion, but I don't personally share it. My favorite is potentially Torna. I think 2's gacha mechanic and environmental skill system brings the game down, so I could agree with systems being off in that one. The systems of Torna, 3, and Future Redeemed were mostly fine for me, though.

Well time for bed. Goodnight everyone and don’t go crazy while I’m gone. Work and school has stopped me from playing video games but it’s been gonna stop me from preordering them. Bring on Wonder and SMRPG

Was the last new dk game really almost a decade ago holy shit
It’s a mismanaged franchise by Nintendo. It’s an IP that’s actually successful. People love DK and many of the games. An IP that has growth, and they can’t consistently put games out. After Rare they had DK in mediocre games. Legit trash racing games. I’m surprised Miyamoto let that happen. Retro finally got it and we were good. Now, it’s back to nothing for a decade. Come on Nintendo.

This isn’t like Starfox where they keep trying and can’t put anything highly critically or commercially out.

I just think the first one has a solid scifi fantasy storyline. The rest get more anime. Then they also tack on weird systems like you mentioned with the gacha. Also the tank support dps thing is really boring and limited in the new one. In the first game you like command everything and have a lot of control. I just don't like what they did with the gameplay at all past X. Didn't even really like X.

I’ve played them in order and 3 is my favorite. I love all of them. One has my favorite world because of the Bionis and Mechonis. I don’t think I’ll ever see a more unique world to explore than that.
