I would be okay with this. I hope there are multiple colors at launch...This is fake, but it's a better mock-up than what's usually used.

Huh, that is probably true that they'd show the same demos at TGS only a month later. But more devs seeing the demos may mean more specifics. I think it'd be cool to get harder reports on the res/fps of BotW and Matrix. We can surmise a bit right now, but it'd be nice actually hearing 4k/60 for Zelda and hearing more about the exact settings Matrix was running atI doubt it actually. I suspect that TGS presentations will be the same content, and that the Matrix leak is as good as it gets leak-wise.
The fact that Eurogamer didn’t report on the Matrix means that either they didn’t hear about it, or didn’t have as many sources for it - meaning that not every dev saw it - or they were asked for additional discretion that VGC ignored.
That makes me think that we got the juicy bit already, and the Nintendo will be in full lockdown at TGS
This looks like the Switch if it came out in 2005, and I mean that in the best way possible. Where did this come from? This is fake, but it's a better mock-up than what's usually used.
big PSP (where are these from btw?)This is fake, but it's a better mock-up than what's usually used.
Aside from a few spots where the shading is a bit weird, and the uncanny screen edge, I gotta say those are pretty damn convincing. And the design overall ain't too shabby. This is fake, but it's a better mock-up than what's usually used.
PSPs are from Sonybig PSP (where are these from btw?)
Cyberpunk doesn't carry the same weight and it's not a "desirable" game either (I'm not saying the game is bad).
If they want to wow people they need Elden Ring, 4k Witcher 3, or Baldur's Gate 3 on that reveal trailer.
It's an obvious fake but at least they tried! This is fake, but it's a better mock-up than what's usually used.
This is kinda exactly what I want now LOL. Bring back the 2000s PSP swag era. Special editions would go so hardThis looks like the Switch if it came out in 2005, and I mean that in the best way possible. Where did this come from?
This bodes well.UFS 3.1 is in 99% of phones released right now, from the $1000+ flagships to the $99 budget phones
joycons that turn a little bit as you remove them are kind of a neat idea! This is fake, but it's a better mock-up than what's usually used.
(Off-topic, but when I get notifications on this forum they're often already marked as read even if I haven't seen them. Is that normal?)
Ratings don’t tend to go out for future consoles like this iirc. But I could totally see this being a title that’s enhanced at launchSo. Gotham Knights rated for Switch.
Or... rated for "Switch"?
What if it's magnetic like the Pimax Portaljoycons that turn a little bit as you remove them are kind of a neat idea!
I'm more shocked at WB trying to salvage that mess at allSo. Gotham Knights rated for Switch.

(Yeah that's the pattern I noticed too.)I've noticed this, but it only happens if the reply/react is on the current page as I refresh, I guess it sees you're on the page the notification is from so it marks it as read.
That's true, and even "same family but only for this model" gets its own listing- ESRB for instance has seperate listings for New Nintendo 3DS games. Though, not New Nintendo 3DS enhanced 3DS games, those are just filed under 3DS.Ratings don’t tend to go out for future consoles like this iirc. But the DLA isn't a bank of Tensor Cores? It's an actual dedicated hardware part/single core.
Not sure where this "It's a bank of Tensor cores" comes from, NV's Orin documentation clearly diagram the DLA as an isolated component that is similar yet with unique capabilities to the Tensor Cores, thus is singular
I would love to know that, too. I just don't think the odds are great that TGS will help. If journalists are waiting for more sources to confirm before going public, then you'd need them to have sources at both Gamescom, a Western show and TGS an Eastern one. If journalists don't have that info, then it probably wasn't in the presentation at all.We can surmise a bit right now, but it'd be nice actually hearing 4k/60 for Zelda and hearing more about the exact settings Matrix was running at
Four avenues. Devs using devkits, a marketing partner leaks, Nintendo lets something slip and it gets datamined, or Nintendo announces it themselves.Do you think the next big round of leaks will probably come from developers using dev kits?
Now it's my turn to say I don't see the point of a demo like that.Hold on. That simply could've just been 1080p native DLSS'd to 4k.
I mean I kinda get that. From a non hardware enthusiast perspective yo rather just want to play new games on a device you already own and love to use instead of getting familiar with something new after like 5 years.a lot of people are too attached to Switch, they want to Switch sucessor to explode, rater then abandon Switch for it sucessor, i know a people with this mindset, they want Switch to be eternal

Love my Switch, but I'm more attached to what it does and its ecosystem, than the physical product. I'm still on OG because while i game portably, its just not important enough for me despite OLED being tempting.I mean I kinda get that. i love Switch, my second favorite Nintendo console behind GC, but i dont first party and third party been held back by the console, i feel Switch has reached all it potencials, now is time for it sucessorI mean I kinda get that. its... not fun. refreshing websites to get a pre-order in to beat the bots.Yes also lot of people don’t want to deal with buying a new console
if there's one thing I do miss, is some nicely designed interior spaces. since Xenoblade, as a series, is largely defined by its outdoor spaces, I hope their next game, whatever it is, does the inverseThe thought of a Monolith Soft game on powerful hardware...
Can't wait.
I sincerely hope it's some Horizon: FW level of visual awesomeness, if they can even get close to it from a technical standpoint I'd be a happy man.The thought of a Monolith Soft game on powerful hardware...
Can't wait.
Or they could go the route of proprietary storage…I'm trying to think how on earth they're going to manage expandable memory with this thing. It's a non-negotiable in this day and age, but what even is there?
And before someone says UFS card-
It's dead, que sera sera.
My first thought is still SDexpress, but there isn't much else in terms of options.
Edit: having quickly looked through (read: skimmed) the SD organisation's paper on SDe, single lane only pulls a max of 1.8W, which is less than double the theoretical maximum of standard SD if I'm not mistaken, so it could be a genuine option, and SDe (single lane) is also... coincidentally... 1+GB/s
And the technology has been available at least since 2020... so it IS a genuine option.
Aaaand Nintendo is a member of the SD association.
It's frankly not a comment of merit, console games are already "tuned for form factor, heat and [when relevant] battery", even PS5 and XBS when that same demo was built to run on them.
It's a bit of a puzzling statement, because the tuning for form factor etc. might be the main point of focus for developing a Switch. So of course he's right, but if they're releasing next year, that tuning has largely already happened. They're not showing this off to developers without being confident that it's representative.
Nintendo has to push a new format if they want anything faster than what they're currently using. There's no avoiding it.Sure, but then you're right back to "Nintendo has to push a new format."
Yeah........ I sincerely hope that the inevitable stock issues are nowhere near as bad as with the PS5, it took me two and a half years to finally get my hands on one. I really REALLY don't want to have to put up with that again.its... not fun. refreshing websites to get a pre-order in to beat the bots.
waiting for the shipment, or checking stores to see if they have it.
setting it up.
If possible i just want to download more power.
Wasn't Imran one of the "Mario & Rabbids 2 looks too good for switch" people. He might have deets on games, but interpreting tech and visuals? Probably not his forteThat’s why I posted it - I generally consider Imran a sensible journalist and poster, but I couldn’t make much sense out of the statement. What good is a tech demo to developers if it’s not representative of their products capabilities?
It’s one thing to say that tech demos aren’t representative of gameplay - that’s a fair statement. Or even that we’re getting second (or third) hand impressions which could be a bit twisted. But no, he’s implying this is some “pre-hardware” demo, that may be hamstrung by dealing with heat dissipation, form factor and battery. As if Nintendo isn’t keenly aware of these limits when they set out to demonstrate the tech.
Nintendo, a few months later: “Oh shoot sorry we forgot we were making a handheld. Here’s the new targets with battery/heat considerations. Silly us!”
Weird post.
Edit: The only thing that comes to mind is that perhaps he’s had experience with Nintendo demoing things behind the scenes that final hardware didn’t deliver on. Something akin to Twilight Princess vs the Zelda spider tech demo. But even so, would that be a “tech demos look better than games” issue or a “hardware isn’t final” issue? I always assumed the former.
Y'know, I'm really likin this design even if it is fakeThis is fake, but it's a better mock-up than what's usually used.
If it's running Ray Tracing, maybe we can assume that Ray Reconstruction is available, otherwise Switch 2 will kill itself running Ray Tracing.About the Matrix demo.
The leakers say it is running with ray tracing and, I belive in a stable frame rate. We don't now about the native resolution or the final output, but we can make some assumptions.
First if we compare with Steam deck. There is any configuration where that demo runs well in deck, even without the Lumen? if not, this put the hardware better than deck in GPU and in CPU.
The other part is ne final output. If they have all the car traffic and particles that xbox Series S had, plus a output bigger than 1080p, thanks to DLSS, then that small portable system will be another Nvidia's black magic, because it will be capable to run any current gen game in a acceptable level.
What we can't imagine right now is how everything will work on portable. I mean, if that demo is already running really low, like 540p, how they will make run well on portable? Can 360p to 1080p will be enough to compensate the diferences?
This is fake, but it's a better mock-up than what's usually used.
Ray reconstruction doesn't make RT run better. If it's running Ray Tracing, maybe we can assume that Ray Reconstruction is available, otherwise Switch 2 will kill itself running Ray Tracing.
That’s very likely. On the other hand, the Asian press must have been salivating for their own dev kit stories too. Assuming more Asian developers will have access to Switch 2 info at the TGS, some leaks can still happen, even if just to reaffirm the western reports. That makes me think that we got the juicy bit already, and the Nintendo will be in full lockdown at TGS
Agreed. Another thing I’d add is that Nintendo might be showing the BotW demo to showcase how developers can build cross-gen Switch games that scale up and down gracefully. I suspect that the Luigi’s Mansion 2 was chosen to be remastered for similar purposes too (cross-gen lighting experiments). You don’t want to ignore an install base of 125MM+ users.A theory I have is that BOTW was used as an internal testbed for new technologies and techniques on the new hardware, and they’re showing developers the results of that.
I do wonder if it will allow them to get satisfactory results with fewer rays.Ray reconstruction doesn't make RT run better.
And RT won't kill the Switch. People are overestimating the power necessary for good RT
It doesn't directly improve performance, but, theoretically (if it lives up to it's promises), it could allow devs to get away with using lower ray counts than they'd be comfortable with using a conventional denoiser. Could be the difference between devs choosing to implement RT or not.Ray reconstruction doesn't make RT run better.
I had a similar thought. One of the things with DLSS before was that you wanted to cast rays in keeping with output resolution instead of input resolution, because the denoiser would prevent DLSS from being able to "find" the higher res detail in the ray casting effects.I do wonder if it will allow them to get satisfactory results with fewer rays.
It does make it require less ray tracing so it can run faster. Better than half-assing ray tracing I supposed.Ray reconstruction doesn't make RT run better.
And RT won't kill the Switch. People are overestimating the power necessary for good RT
Cyberpunk has very much taken over the graphical showcase mantle from Crysis, and the raytracing angle would basically check all the boxes. I think that game would be the best possible analogy for Skyrim in that everyone would know it's got next gen power. Then Elden Ring it is. 4K Witcher would be similar in that case to Cyberpunk, but Baldur's Gate 3 could be another contender.
Cyberpunk is a very intensive game, but it is also a very good way to showcase a system and practically any piece of Nvidia tech.Cyberpunk has very much taken over the graphical showcase mantle from Crysis, and the raytracing angle would basically check all the boxes. I think that game would be the best possible analogy for Skyrim in that everyone would know it's got next gen power.
Elden Ring is perhaps the best possible game in terms of popularity/power, but since it's FromSoft I put the chances below literally every known western 3rd party developer.
They can get the slower, smaller, cheaper nvmes as they're still pretty fast imo. They don't have to be PS5 nvme fast. What storage format do we think they will use? I imagine it will be something in between the high-speed NVMes and the flash storage on Switch.
R&C on Steam Deck is noticeably slower than its PS5 counterpart so I wonder how games that target SSDs will fair on Switch 2.
