The only worthwhile announcement at the Presents.

That said I suspect one of the release dates of the DLC will probably align with the launch of Switch [REDACTED] for obvious reasons.

On one hand, that is way too correct for the Pokemon stuff to be made up.

On the other hand, person could've just seen the Present video before and made up anything else?
They don't use the correct names for some of the stuff, seemingly using development or transliterated names rather than the official names, so it seems more legit than not.

DLC2 being out this Winter aligns with the Fortnite chapter speculation from the previous page.
Is there a direct link?
To check possible html edits
I don't think we're permitted to link directly to 4chan, but you can Google "Scabai DLC leak" (in quotes) and find the original post, it is unedited.

Yeaaaah dunno.

I know 4chan sometimes hit the target (see Switch January 2017 presentation leaks), but it's more often bullshit than not.

I'll keep being cautious on this. ^^

But hey, if it ends up being true, i'm happy that my birthday (the date the 4chan post was made) brought something good for everyone. ;D

Just to be clear: Winter 23 (as in not right now) runs from December 2023 to March 2024.

Well, the Pokémon-related stuff is pretty much spot on, which means they definitely have SOME sort of source for information. It could range from just having access to Youtube videos to potentially risking your job for a damn 4Chan post. This could be some interesting intel.

Just to be clear: Winter 23 (as in not right now) runs from December 2023 to March 2024.
Winter '23 runs from June to September in the southern hemisphere and November to December in the Northern hemisphere depending on country and calendar (starting on the first of the month, starting on the solstice, or starting on the first of the month before the month of the solstice).

January to March '24 is winter '24.

Winter '23 is this calendar year. That is unambiguous.

But, seasons are TERRIBLE ways to discuss release times because they vary from calendar to calendar, country to country and hemisphere to hemisphere.

Inkopolis for Splatoon 3 launches on February 28th, when it was announced for Spring. February 28th is Spring where I live, but probably not where you live. Meanwhile Splatoon 3 was announced for summer and launched in early September. I would consider that the middle of Autumn but to some that was still a "summer" release.

Seasons are meaningless. The DLC could launch any time from August to November for part 1 and November to December for part 2.

I’m really sure Scalet/Violet DLC wave 2 will be release before next year pokémon day (late february), going by the word “winter” it means a potential launch at december (in time with Christmas), january or at very most early february.

Either way, if new HW is still planned for this FY, we should really heard positive news throughout this first half.

I mean, sure we can discuss about semantics of seasons, but given the eShop for DLC 2 does say "2024" together with PR talking about Winter 23, it's pretty sure to me that they really mean the winter season that begins in Nothern Hemisphere (aka where the countries Nintendo and Gamefreak are from are on) in 2023 and that runs up to March 2024. ^^

Possible that they're confident in being able to launch the DLC during the 2023 winter months (so late November, or December) but leaving the option open to move it to 2024.

I dare to drop a take:

Keeping this new "leak"/rumor in mind, i'm absolutely certain Drake will launch within Nintendo's FY 2024.

Barring them lying about the non-Direct details, I'm guessing that places the Switch 2 target October to December, given the way the developer worded it (would been nice to have seen the developer post in their original language w/o google translate but we'll take this of course). Probably November 2023 if I'd be a betting man?

i was literally gonna buy an oled today

do i take this rumor seriously or no..?

Well ... no one knows.

The Pokemon stuff is 100% legit, no doubt there. It also wasn't edited and the 4chan post has been unaltered since it's initial posting (it seems).

Now, is the source telling the truth about it's employment? No one knows.

Could it be that they've "just" seen the Presents video beforehand some way and just made up the rest? Yes.

The eShop launch date is tentative, obviously.

Winter '23 means the winter months which occur in calendar year 2023.

Furthermore this patch can and probably will launch AFTER the console launches.

Japan observes a seasonal system which does not consider March to be Winter. Since they observe meteorological seasons.

Pokémon Company European offices are in Dublin, where November is considered Winter.

It's meaningless. Nintendo literally follows whatever seasonal system suits them at the time. Splatoon 3's in-game seasons follow meteorological seasons exactly.

Plus astrological seasons that start and end on the solstices and equinoxes are inherently absurd and pretty much useless for official business dealings. The Pokémon company international is an international company. They use the standardised seasonal system, the meteorological seasons, where winter ends February 28th/29th.

What are the options?

A) TPC is working on patches for S/V and Nintendo is launching brand-new base Switch models (i.e themed OLED models) for the DLC.

Has Nintendo ever released a special edition console for DLC? I know S/V are particularly huge releases, but it'd be weird. I don't consider this likely.

B) Nintendo is launching a "Pro" edition for the Switch, almost 7 years after the initial launch.
This would be weird and unprecedented, especially after the numerous reports claiming that a Pro model for the Switch was scrapped. However, it could be possible that this model uses T239 and it aims to extend the lifecycle of the Switch.

C) Switch 2
If Switch 2 was launching this year, the logical assumption would be that it would launch with Zelda, Nintendo's biggest release this year. Considering we don't know anything about their H2 23 plans and it's too late for anything to come out with Zelda, it's difficult to predict what could happen. Perhaps 3D Mario is coming out this year? Who knows.

D) The leaker is fucking with us

The eshop said that the second dlc will be released on 2024

The best news, if it's true, isn't the release date timing (because late 2023/early 2024 isn't a mindblowing revelation), it's that Game Freak will have a next gen patch ready. Or at least a next gen version.

The placeholder release date of DLC2 is April 30, 2024 on the JP eshop.

I wouldn't read anything into it. It's a placeholder. Inkopolis for Splatoon 3 had May as its placeholder date, and Side Order has December 31st 2024.

It's ultimately meaningless. The absolute most you can tease out is "launches before this date", but, given they already gave a launch window with a year, it's definitely coming out well in advance of that date.

We should drop that topic, but allow me one last question:

If Winter 2023 is November/December 2023, then what Winter are we currently in? (Also, Winter officially ends March 20th here, i think that applies to all countries located on Northern Hemisphere and using the ... Gregorian(?) calendar)

Also, a 4K patch (let's call it that) for ScarVio does not have to release after launch, it could be one of the launch patches among others for the evergreens. ^^

We are currently in Winter 2023

December of 2023 will also be Winter 2023.

They are the same year.

They are different winters.

That seasonal system does NOT apply to all Northern Hemisphere countries. It doesn't even apply to the entirety of the USA. That is an absurd claim that is simply false.

If Gamefreak is working on graphical enhancements, I'd assume that most developers that are close to Nintendo are doing the same.

I mean, it's freaking Gamefreak

Yeah, seems promising. Surely they'll do one for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 3 on this schedule.

Gamefreak is just an iiiiinch closer, given their main office is literally located in a Nintendo HQ location. ;D

But the "leaker" said they're an outsource dev working on this. Dunno, would GF really outsource something like this? Unless it's "outsourced to a Nintendo team" like ... the Monolithsoft team that helps out the Zelda team, and that does count as "outsourcing".

I'm kinda wary that some "random" outsource dev partner would know about Nintendo hardware, even if they're working with Gamefreak.
