Hmm...

What are the options?

A) TPC is working on patches for S/V and Nintendo is launching brand-new base Switch models (i.e themed OLED models) for the DLC.
Has Nintendo ever released a special edition console for DLC? I know S/V are particularly huge releases, but it'd be weird. I don't consider this likely.

B) Nintendo is launching a "Pro" edition for the Switch, almost 7 years after the initial launch.
This would be weird and unprecedented, especially after the numerous reports claiming that a Pro model for the Switch was scrapped. However, it could be possible that this model uses T239 and it aims to extend the lifecycle of the Switch.

C) Switch 2
If Switch 2 was launching this year, the logical assumption would be that it would launch with Zelda, Nintendo's biggest release this year. Considering we don't know anything about their H2 23 plans and it's too late for anything to come out with Zelda, it's difficult to predict what could happen. Perhaps 3D Mario is coming out this year? Who knows.

D) The leaker is fucking with us
The problem with option A is that if this dude is telling the truth there’s zero reason he’d know about a special edition OLED, he says he’s part of an outsourcing company.

The Japanese website and the Chinese website both say DLC2 will be released AFTER Winter 2023, while the English website says it will be released IN Winter 2023. That's strange.

Gamefreak is just an iiiiinch closer, given their main office is literally located in a Nintendo HQ location. ;D

But the "leaker" said they're an outsource dev working on this. Dunno, would GF really outsource something like this? Unless it's "outsourced to a Nintendo team" like ... the Monolithsoft team that helps out the Zelda team, and that does count as "outsourcing".

I'm kinda wary that some "random" outsource dev partner would know about Nintendo hardware, even if they're working with Gamefreak.
Game Freak is rather small and like 80% of the people that work on their games are from outside the company. They’re probably very busy with the DLC and future titles, a graphics enhancement patch definitely seems like something they’d get help with.

It can be a partner like TOSE

I think it's because technically winter ends a few hours before in the east.

Seems unlikely and the leaker did that for laughs. Why do a graphics upgrade for DLC when they can do that for the next Pokémon on fall 24?

ScarVio and the DLC is what Gamefreak plans to make money until whatever they develop right now is ready. So supporting the game and making it "attractive" for a new system is kinda a solid strategy to make sure you continue raking in money from this.

DLC2 being out this Winter aligns with the Fortnite chapter speculation from the previous page.

Yeah. Both this and the second Fortnite 4chan rumor are leaning towards a late 2023 release. With the first Fortnite 4chan rumor saying in about a year, so still very close to that.

If this gen is anything like the SwSh gen then SV are going to be the main titles for official competitive play until Gen X, so having an enhancement patch makes lots of sense.

what was the fortnite rumour?

what was the fortnite rumour?
I posted two rumors from 4chan about someone who says he demo'd Fortnite on the next hardware and it is coming in about a year and a desperate Gamedev who says Epic Games would abandon the Switch in favor of the Switch 2 by the end of Fortnite Chapter 4(but for some reason also claims it has a Lovelace GPU). And both of them claim Epic Games has Switch 2 dev kits.

I genuinely don't know how people can doubt this leak. Yes, there's the cynical way of looking at it "Oh, what if they just threw this in to screw with us", but that's really unlikely.

Because it's just as likely that this person got access to the Presents video early and isn't a dev as claimed. ^^

Here's the good news, the wait won't be too long to see if they're bullshitting or not, because Nintendo would at the very least like 3-4 (if not more) months between announcement and release.
So, in case this is true, an announcement would happen during summer / early fall.

H2 2023- H1 2024 aligns with a possible timeline we've gleaned from T239 and NVN2 info, it's not a bad prediction. If the leak is real, it's another data point. If not, it doesn't change my prediction.

Nintendo has to announce this system 4-5 months out because it’ll be next gen. Could line up with Nintendo not doing E3 because they’re preparing for announcement of Switch 2 and presentation this summer (or late summer).

Of course it can mean they just don’t need E3 anymore too.

Do you remember in 2016 during the botw demo at pax east, was there a trailer before pax? and when exactly please? Thx!

We should drop that topic, but allow me one last question:

If Winter 2023 is November/December 2023, then what Winter are we currently in? (Also, Winter officially ends March 20th here, i think that applies to all countries located on Northern Hemisphere and using the ... Gregorian(?) calendar)

Also, a 4K patch (let's call it that) for ScarVio does not have to release after launch, it could be one of the launch patches among others for the evergreens. ^^

We're in the 1H of late Winter 2022 aka early in the 2H of Winter 2022. Make sense? It's heavy but it will soon™.

I 100% believe that someone with detailed knowledge of the Pokémon Presents would post accurate info about it on 4chan in advance then include completely fabricated Switch successor news to fuck with people.

Not saying this isn’t real. But people will go to crazy lengths lying just for the Lolz. These types of rumors warrant the highest skepticism, IMO simply due to the amount of trolls out there with a lot of time and energy dedicated to BSing people.

If they really are launching a new console in winter this explains why they won't be at E3.

They are probably planning a big presentation for early this autumn to double down on January 2017's.

Yes, but plural with "s" at the end of the word is one of the most basic rules 🤔
Considering that native english speakers appear utterly unable to distinguish between "your" and "you're" I wouldn't focus too much on it

Edit: lol, I made a mistake on the very thing I'm annoyed by

Hmm indeed. It's possible that this person just had access to the Pokemon Presents (or related marketing material) beforehand, and pretended they're a dev, throwing the last line in to screw with people, but it would be a rather strange thing to do when you have legitimate things to leak. Given Game Freak makes extensive use of outsourcing, it wouldn't be too surprising that someone at an outsourcing company would know these things. Particularly for post-launch content or updates, which I presume would rely more heavily on outsourcing while the core Game Freak team moves onto the next game. If they need a bunch of higher-quality assets to use in a graphics enhancement patch, they're unlikely to do that all internally.

Also, people seem to be reading the last line as meaning that the new Switch model(s) will be released alongside the second DLC, but I don't think that's what's meant here. I think it's the graphics enhancement patch that will be released alongside DLC2. That is, I read it as:
We are working on a graphics enhancement patch (for the new Nintendo Switch models) that will be released alongside DLC2.
Not:
We are working on a graphics enhancement patch for (the new Nintendo Switch models that will be released alongside DLC2).

That said, it's machine translated, so probably not worth over-analysing the specific language used, but my point is that we shouldn't assume that the new Switch model has to release at exactly the same time as the second DLC. If the rumour is genuine, then the new Switch model could release at any time before the second DLC, although presumably not before the first DLC.

You already did with that "there are two 'Winters 2023' and they're 9 months apart" lol
Unlike my hobby being calendar shredding, that part is true.

We experience two different winters in one year. They are both Winter in 2023.

Btw, I will lie to myself once again that this is 100% real to justify waiting to buy the big Switch exclusives that I want to play and finally getting my backlog to the low single digits

Remember the leak that had the Splatoon OLED model right but got the new Switch model (a few months later) wrong. It’s likely similar. The best things from these rumors never come true.
The splatoon leak didn't say anything wrong. He only commented that there was a new Switch in production, he did not say dates

Well, no, next Winter ends in 2024.

Before the end of the calendar year, 2023.
Yes, I know, but... It wouldn't make sense to say winter before the end of the year, because it would be just 10 days 🤣

"Winter 2023" means the winter that starts on 21/12/2023 and ends on 20/03/2024
