Remake Metroid Other M

Add better controls/gameplay
Add Sector Zero which is a Tourian replica where the Metroids are
Add Mother Brain as last boss
I think they'd need to do way more to turn other m into something that isnt dogshit lol.

Completely rewrite the story and its characters and structure. Change the environments to something that actually looks and plays decenly. Get a better composer. Rethink how VA should be done. And theres way more that should be done before other m becomes good lol

Can't see them going back to Ultimate without Sakurai. It's Nintendo's game, they do what they want to do with that game, but I'm certain they won't want to touch it if Sakurai isn't involved. Definitely won't design any characters without him, and a DLC pass of just stages wouldn't be that interesting so much time after the end of the character pass.
At the same time tho, it's technically extremely hard to argue for another Smash game when Ultimate exists. Fast paced and has a roster that would be difficult to cut smaller since we'd be back to demands of their return and so on.

If anything, there's the option of porting it and then adding on more content which has its benefits but flaws as well.

Radiant Historia is Star Fox with time travel, which is why it's better than Xenoblade (no time travel, no consumables)

I've mentioned it before, but Nintendo still has several multi-million selling IPs that have yet to have an original release on Switch:

  • 2D Mario
  • 2D Zelda
  • 2D Donkey Kong
  • 3D Donkey Kong
  • Nintendogs
  • Tomodachi
  • Pikmin
  • Pokemon Mystery Dungeon

Combine those with new a Metroid Prime, Fire Emblem, and Kirby and all the potential remasters and Nintendo has plenty for a solid Switch lineup for the next 1-2 years.

Holy f*ck I knew it had BL vibes but didn't imagine it was also a depressive tragedy.

It's a shame it hasn't been localized yet.

Please Nintendo localize this.
I wouldn't say it has BL vibes. There are undertones, like passing comments and stuff. Granted I haven't played it, just impressions from people who have.
Overall the focus is on a detective story, the protagonist does have a love interest (the singer I believe)

The point is that there's at least a reason, no matter how big or small, for owners of Nintendo's top selling game to pick up the expansion pack. Ideally, Nintendo wants you to own all of the top selling games and the expansion pack plays a part on achieving that. If own Mario Kart and have the expansion pass, you now have access to something for Animal Crossing so you might as well pick that up too, and vice versa. Smash could play a big part of bolstering the expansion pack even more. Of course the easier solution would be just to add one of the existing fighter passes to the pass if they really don't want to make new content.

And yes, Nintendo has a lot of respect for Sakurai, they will have to made Smash Bros games and content without at some point. They're not gonna let god worship of Sakurai prevent them from making lots of money.

I don’t think the jokes about TTYD being remastered into full Toads is really funny. If it’s remastered it will be the game it was on GC. Nintendo isn’t going to change the game like that. They know why people have been asking for it. It’s probably top 3-5 most requested GC remaster.

GC Animal Crossing was chill. New Horizons has no chill. Bring back chill!
Tom Nook would just close his shop at the end of every month to hold a lottery. I remember stashing all those tickets he gave out in the basement and then not winning a fucking thing and still felt great about it.

Nate, Emily and Jeff: Are there games, be it big AAA games or indies that are coming out soon you're looking forward to?

Part of me wonders if Nintendo have their development assistance teams help out with remasters in some capacity; we've seen NST handle porting and development duties with EPD 8 re-releases, for example. I wondered if, given they're based in the US, it's NST who actually help with the Prime remaster. Might Nintendo then decide NST get to handle remasters for Prime 2 and 3, with supervision from Retro? I know Jeff suggested Prime 2 and 3 wouldn't get as much work done but would appear quickly, but I'm not sure on that.

Maybe iQue take a hand in some of this work, too? If Nintendo want to expand internally and handle more franchises, they've got subsidiaries around the world they could expand and assign the work to.

Been off here for about a day, did I miss something? Is F-Zero actually happening?

Who is this person? I've personally never heard of them.
a "leaker" from what I understand, he is also followed by team nintenleaks, kelios and necro felipe. could take a look at his tweet if you have time to judge its reliability please? I'm not very good at disentangling true and false 😅

Oh yeah def could be possible, especially since nst is hiring decently now. Althrough im not sure if they were the ones helping Retro with 1 cause - they are a small to medium studio and they were doing Bowser's Fury during that time so i dont think they could have done a lot of help. Might have done something but im imagining a third party came in with the biggest help overall.

People of the Direct Speculation, Friends of Famiboards. I speak to you all.

We live in unprecedented times. This thread has seen a lot of hardship, and has been worn and torn time and time again. It has however, endured and survived even the greatest of uphill battles.

We are now at page 536 at the time of writing. We can go far beyond that. We have a mission, nay a duty to the users of this forum, to the people.. to the World.

We must reach page 690 before the Nintendo Direct is announced and this thread is closed.

NST? Or are they known to be bust with something else?
NST is a possibility. We don't know what they're up to, currently, but they are hiring.

They've provided assistance on a project every year Switch has been on the market - Snipperclips for 2017, Captain Toad for 2018, The Stretchers for 2019, Good Job for 2020, Bowser's Fury for 2021. They're pretty productive, as it is, and presumably there's some overlap in the time they worked on these different games.
My other thought is Intysys, they always have their hands in a lot of things simultaneously.
I'd be surprised if it were Intelligent Systems and would say that is very unlikely. Fire Emblem will remain their major focus, with the newest entry presumably finished (and co-developed with KT) it might now be all hands on deck for their own internally-developed remake. Plus, they handle Paper Mario, and that comes every four years like clockwork.

My guess would be for Nintendo's existing subsidiaries and long-time affiliates that their focus remains on their existing strengths as opposed to throwing more work at them. A single studio handling 3 franchises, like Intelligent Systems does, is probably enough work for that team given they've a 190 person headcount. No sense in adding a remaster of a different franchise to that workload when development has ballooned the way it has.

I think places like iQue, NST, perhaps 1-Up could be more likely for some remastering work because their roles aren't as lead developers on key franchises. Externally, Tantalus and Grezzo come to mind as companies Nintendo could turn to. There also many companies around the world now that specialise in remastering and porting work, and I'm sure a good number would be more than happy to work with Nintendo.

I see we've entered the "wishlist" phase. I prefer the prediction phase, guessing the date, analyzing the patterns, resetting the clock. Grubb just had to deprive us of those unknowns...
