It’s nice that they finally dispelled any remaining doubts surrounding the Zelda ports. They’re coming this year, and they’re coming soon.

Metroid to start the direct, Fire Emblem and NSO in the middle, Zelda at the end. Maybe a surprise or two as well. Sounds like a great direct to me.
Would they announce WW/TP and talk about BotW2 in the same direct? I don’t want the remasters off they’re at the expense of BotW news

It's just weird that Zelda ports are coming soon. Like early October? Then when does Prime HD come out if that's also this year? Is it gonna go up against Bayonetta or Pokemon or is it going to slide in like a week before Pokemon? Surely they wouldn't miss Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping.

Obviously you can flip what comes first; Metroid or the Zelda ports lol.

Metroid as a dec game always looked right to me for some reason lol

They would. They have done segments in Directs where they do a whole chunk of Zelda news with multiple announcements. Check out the end of the e3 2021 Direct.

I believe these guys have good info about these ports/remakes existing. But Nintendo is known for sitting on finished games, so if they don’t NEED to announce and release them all this fall, they won’t.

If Nintendo wants to go all in on anniversaries, they could release Metroid Prime in November, and Zelda HD ports in December to match each anniversary.

Sure, Twilight Princess wouldn’t really be celebrating an anniversary but I don’t think Nintendo wants to wait until 2026 to put it out again.

It would be a pretty aggressive release schedule if you ended up with Switch exclusive software being something like:

September 9th - Splatoon 3
October 8th - Zelda: Wind Waker & Twilight Princess HD
October 20th - Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
October 28th - Bayonetta 3
November 2nd - Harvestella
November 11th - Metroid Prime HD
November 18th - Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet
December 9th - Dragon Quest Treasures

I keep forgetting that Harvestella and Dragon Quest Treasures are exclusives.

Was it Emily, Nate, or both that said Nintendo has so many games ready right now they're having trouble deciding when to release them? I'm reminded of that when I see the crowded last half of the year.

Fall 2022 would be up there with Fall 2019 with a schedule like that

That's fair haha.

Oh I 100% believe these guys are telling the truth. I think it would make the rest of the year so much more packed that it is hard to believe if that makes sense.

What'd we get out of the podcast? I'm hearing there will be a significant presence of Zelda with BOTW2 name drop and WW+TP? What about NSO news?

What the hell's happening now?

I'm actually gasp playing a videogame

Grubb thinks it will be a "Zelda Blowout."

Plus a Famiboards shoutout!

Extremely sure that WWHD and TPHD are there.

(Love your shirt, Mike)
Hooooooooly shit I'm hyped. Does anyone have timestamps for the Zelda comments or is the stream still live? Still working tonight unfortunately. If not a timestamp, did Grubb say he's extremely confident WW and TP HD are both 1) at the direct and 2) coming out this year? Or just the first part?

At the Direct, and yeah, coming out this year to fill in for BOTW2.

goodnight thread

sleep well for those in time zones where that is appropriate

edit: or those who are sleeping at inappropriate times

It is aggressive, but the exact opposite of last year, where about as many games were coming out, and I was insanely hyped for ALL OF THEM. Everything here is just, "oh, neat, I'll probably pick it up if I've got the time" with the only must-buy for me being Bayonetta 3. Not gonna act whiny about it obviously, I know I'm in the minority here, and I know there were plenty of people who felt unsatisfied by last holiday season. Mind you, I've gone into the last few Directs with low expectations, only thinking whatever rumours please me the least are guaranteed, leading to me being extremely shocked and pleased (along with other "strong" emotions) when an unexpected announcement I had interest in was was made, so I'm sure there's something we're overlooking, or something absolutely bonkers they'll pull out the week of the 12th. Can't wait for the belated birthday gift Nintendo!

I believe Jeff said he wasn’t 100% sure on when the Zelda ports would release. Mike asked him and he estimated early 2023 could be good because he still doesn’t absolutely believe that BOTW2 is coming in Spring next year.

Again, I believe it was speculation on their release timing, not whether or not they exist.

Was telling someone IRL that I’m into leak culture (didn’t say anything about the leaks themselves), and I got a lecture on how leaks are terrible and ruin surprises for developers. Then some big example about a game that he liked and how it got leaked, and how the developers’ surprise was ruined.

I can kinda get what he was saying about the developers. I mean, look at how upset the Ubisoft devs were when the first Mario Rabbids game leaked. Then again, it also got tons of backlash before its official announcement, which understandably created low morale amongst devs. But that was obviously a terrible situation with the angry backlash and all that.

What do you think? Personally, there are things I wouldn’t want spoiled for me- like BotW2 footage & name- but other things, like the lame Mario 3D All-Stars collection, I don’t give a shit if that gets leaked.

I'm curious about Metroid Prime 4. Lots of industry veterans from various studios joined Retro Studios
Direct starts

« Hi, I’m sorry but I’m not Eiji Aonouma, just someone at the 3DO Company doing a cosplay. We are proud to announce that the HD version of Plumbers don’t wear tie for the Switch is doing well. That’s all for this Nintendo Direct ! »

TFW you’re in the process of starting a second musical project and are impatiently waiting for your producer to let you hear a sample of what they’re working on, so you send an email that casually drops a hint like “hey how’s it going I’m always down to give feedback haha!” but then you feel bad because you know you can’t rush perfection and have to give the producer the two week time period they promised

Can anyone relate?
