With Jeff Grub thinking a Twilight Princess/Wind Waker HD announcement could come at the rumored September Direct, has any other sources made similar comments recently?
I don't think so. I wonder what Mike and Jeff meant in last night's podcast when they said that, "...new information has come to light..." and then they both suspect there is a September Direct. They mentioned this right before they started talking about TP/WW.

I respect Jeff, but with him I find it impossible to tell what is speculation and what is knowledge.

Any specific reason why I'm reading September 1st? 7th is also before TGS right?

Wasn't the only other person hinting at TP/WW HD Tom Henderson of Eurogamer? Granted, I think the last time they poked the hornet's nest was last year E3, and I don't think anyone has corroborated until Jeff's recent podcast

No idea. Probably just all the rumors around a Direct and possibly a General Direct. As for Zelda, I would love for them to be announced next month but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah the sources for the Zelda HD remasters have been pretty lukewarm. I'm not holding my breath personally.

Andy Robinson of VGC too.

Like, given Nintendo's history of porting every Wii U game under the sun, and maintain the annual Zelda release they have going on, it makes sense even if it were just framed as speculation and not an actual rumour, but of course the second Nintendo starts to feel it's getting predictable it'll pull a left turn out of nowhere.

I don't think it's a longshot to expect any Zelda content this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were another indie-collaboration a la Cadence of Hyrule

unless leakers make very specific claims, I prefer to never assume. The inability for folks to understand the difference between a leak, and a prediction from a leak is too damn tiring

These are nice predictions. I really can see all of them happening.
  • I can see Nintendo dumping craploads of cash to keep MH franchise Switch exclusive. There won't be MH6 on other platforms, next MH also will be on Switch.
  • NLG will do a one last Luigi's Mansion game before moving on. Maybe an open world styled game. Last game we had a hotel, this time we'll have a whole haunted town.
  • Not only there will be a Switch exclusive RE, I also predict all of the remaining RE game to appear on Drake.
  • I also agree that AC will get one final expansion. All of the content from past games will be in New Horizon.
  • There will be a Metroid 6 but I think MercurySteam will do different things for Nintendo too. A new IP, perhaps.

Here my additions:
  • Grezzo is doing Ever Oasis. A soft reboot, the new game will be much bigger than the first one.
  • New IP's from GoodFeel, IntSys, Vanpool and Dimps. Goodfeel's game is that Goemon style game, rebooted. Vanpool's new game again will feature cute animals.
  • Nintendo publishes & funds one of Media.Vision's secret projects.
  • Asano will return to Final Fantasy. Maybe FF5 in 2DHD. Published by Nintendo.
  • Golden Sun? No, a spiritual successor, from Camelot. 2025, maybe.
Very good predictions!! I agree with all of them too.

I forgot to point out Resident EVIl, VIIlage, REmake 2, 3 and 4 coming exclusively to Drake. I can see Capcom doing a dump of the 7 and VIIlage at the launch and then a dump of the REmakes later on, much like RE 4/0/remake and then 5/6/revelations.

On team Asano, I have that bold dream of them remaking either Chrono Trigger or Super Mario RPG. Also open world-ish Luigi's Mansion 4 makes a lot of sense.

I can see Camelot trying out Golden Sun or a new IP next as I don't see much room for Mario Sports anyways. We got Tennis, Golf and even Strikers coming back, I think next step is either something new or a new kind of Mario spin off.

Ever Oasis getting a new installment also makes a lot of sense!! I definitely see it happening too, they're an extremely efficient team(2015 Majora's Mask and TriForce Heroes, 2017 Ever Oasis, 2018 Luigi's Mansion, 2019 Link's Awakening, 2021 Miotopia), so I think we'll get a new 2D Zelda by them and Ever Oasis 2.

Nintendo clearly got back on the games they've sent out to die on Wii U and 3DS final years on Switch with either ports or new installments, I think Ever Oasis deserves a chance too.

Someone also made the point that maybe Nintendo considers Majora's Mask on NSO to suffice for this year's Zelda release. I wonder if that's the case.
I think it might be actually as that was also the only Nintendo game dropped in February. Last Zelda-less year was 2012, were there Virtual Console Wii U/3DS Zelda additions that year?

So it sounds like WWHD and TP are happening, and might even hit relatively soon? That's exciting.

I do hope it doesn't mean another delay for BotW2. I was really confident that it would actually release in Spring.

Metroid Prime Remaster
WWHD/TPHD
F-Zero GX

The GameCube Direct
I know a certain muppet would be happy unless thousand year door is included
Pikmin 1 and 2

Cursory Google search, seems no Zelda games were released on the Virtual console at all for Wii, Wii U or 3DS in 2012

Seems like if they want to stick with a yearly Zelda title, TP/WW has to be it for 2022. Unless they want to provide some kind of BOTW2 demo (I'm not seriously suggesting this is a possibility).

The possibility of knowing more about BOTW2 and some Metroid news within a week or two is certainly enough to get me hyped. Choo choo

I mean we're all so scared with BotW 2 being delayed again, but it certainly wouldn't mean any definite thing to the game's launch date:
  • When Twilight Princess HD was announced, it was supposed the release the same year as BotW. BotW was originally delayed to early 2016, so it's even possible it would be a similar scenario, with TP HD being late 2015 and BotW early 2016, so they delayed BotW to late 2016 and TP HD to early 2016(which makes sense as the game was leaked from eShop like in October 2015).
  • we've also had things like Mario Maker 2 coming 5 months after New Super Mario Bros U port. Majora's Mask 3D releasing the same year as TriForce Heroes on the 3DS. Twilight Princess HD and Hyrule Warriors 3DS releasing months apart. Same with A Link Between Worlds and Wind Waker HD.
  • last, but not least, we've had Super Mario 3D All Stars and Super Mario 3D World+ Bowser's Fury 5 months apart - and the latter was supposed to come in that same holiday season.
  • TP/WW HD releasing still in 2022 and BotW 2 in March 2023 can happen. That would be weird and of course a waste, but can happen.

If you're going full on GameCube Remaster Directs, just add Skies of Arcadia Legends and we will achieve world peace and world wide same sex marriage legalization.

The day is September 1st.
Hello there, I am Eiji Aonuma producer of The Legend of Zelda series. I'm sure a lot of you saw me and thought there might be news about the sequel to The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild game. Unfortunately we don't have anything to share right now, we apologize. We've gone EPD 9 route and we are currently developing a brand new 3D Zelda game for mobile devices, it's scheduled to release in 2023, so please look forward to it.

I see you’re all joining the September 1st team.

I’m one of the proud 50~ people who voted for Sept. 1 in the poll DAYS ago.

I tip my hat to you, @LukasManak22 . It’s about TIME they started showing up.

you are based

I'm team zelda botw2 for 2024 and I'm also team September 14 for the Nintendo direct mini partner showcase
you are not based

I voted 9/13-9/15 but I didn't really give it much thought. I think maybe I Googled TGS and chose the closest date before

As always, I will stand by my guess even when it becomes abundantly clear I'm wrong

The Zelda ports don't even need a long marketing campaign.
People look at Skyward Sword HD with the 5 months announcement/release window, but Nintendo didn't actually start marketing it with the overview trailer until 3 weeks before release.

I said surprise August Direct earlier and September 1st is technically August 32nd so yeah.

Holy shit. I’ve been moved to Q3 for the steam deck. If we get the direct next month and I can get my deck then next month will be great if I can play it

I mainly want the deck to play a lot of my old favorites. I still plan to get third parties on switch

Nintendo from 2018-2021 was basically:
  • Smash characters (RIP);
  • Third party exclusive stuff(Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak);
  • Games they're publishing outside of Japan/timed exclusives(No More Heroes III, Bravely Default II);
  • Last first party game IIRC was Marvel's Ultimate Alliance 3; last major major announcement by them was Bayonetta 3 in 2017.
lmao i apologize i mixed the game awards with tokyo game show. has been anything interesting in the tgs of the last few years?

Look at all this voter fraud happening. Famiboards staff members just finding "lost" boxes of votes and adding them to the total. Shameful.

I don’t know if you’ve seen the new office decor (I posted a pic earlier) but in our defence we have a lot of cardboard boxes to sort through

By Nintendo themselves, no. At most what happens is a third party exclusive receiving a new trailer, like Monster Hunter Rise or Sunbreak iirc?

Let's just toss in a remake of StarFox Adventures, too. Take away even more of the last few remaining reasons for GC on the NSO.
Holy shit please

If a remake gives a chance to properly complete the boss battle against General Scales then absolutely fuck the GC on NSO if it means we can get this complete package of a game.
