I'm waiting for the Pyra and Mythra amiibo since I'm too poor for the official big figures (and I prefer Mythra's Smash design anyways)

That gets truer every day.

Edit: hey it didn't let me quote your post! This is why it's courteous to leave a . in a post that just has quotes.

I don't think so, but IIRC didn't there used to be some kind of Amiibo release date/Direct correlation theory? It's been a while so my memory is foggy.
they're aligned with (often unrelated) games for retail purposes! they come out the same day as splatoon 3

I thought it’d be fun to recap the big July announcements and make a list of things to watch for in August and beyond.

In July we had:

A new Kirby game announced!
Bayonetta 3 trailer and release date!
Mario Kart Wave 2 Announcement!
Xenoblade 3 and Live A Live released!
Flutes!
Switch Sports Summer Update Featuring New Volleyball Moves!
Mario Strikers Free Update 1
New SNES / NES / N64 / Genesis NSO games!

In August we should be on the lookout for:

New Pokemon Trailer!
Splatoon 3 Direct!
Indie World!
Maybe A General Direct!
New Kirby Game Date
Potential Advance Wars Rescheduling

Interesting Leaks / Rumors:

Metroid Prime HD
New Fire Emblem
Everybody 1 - 2 Switch
New Goldeneye
Drake Switch
F-Zero Something

I'm not in the loop on the decisions being made, but if they decide to keep this thread going I'd definitely support a title change to ST3 or ST Summer 2022 or whatever for the sake of the new ST index

(pinging @mazi I suppose sorry)
we're still talking about it but personally i think renaming this to ST3 and having it run at least until the expected september direct is a good idea.

Reading the impressions on Xenoblade 3 OT and im just laughing at those bunch of jokers who play video games. Lets just wait for Splatoon 3 news so we can move on to the next game

Moment on this thread is kinda waning. Are people losing hype? Xenoblade just dropped, and the next big game isn't until September, perhaps Nintendo will drop some more goodies until then.

Then again, pokemon pre-orders are starting soon, so we're likely due for a trailer.

I think people are just playing Xenoblade. So not much activity in the thread.

We need games for the non-weebs among us.

Agreed; the calendar feels barren since I'm not picking up anything that interests me until Bayonetta 3 at the earliest

Potential Advance Wars Rescheduling
New Goldeneye
Until the Ukraine situation is resolved I wouldn't expect any news for either of these based on what's been officially said and rumored.

Nintendo needs to get more serious about non-JRPGs. I can see my fami starving, looking all malnourished and shit.
Mario Kart DLC in August, Splatoon is in September, Bayonetta 3 in October. What more does Fami need?

I am playing Aria of Sorrow. It is my first Castlevania game... and I really enjoy it.
Good first choice because that's the best one of the GBA games. Bad first choice because that's the best of the GBA games.

When Modern Warfare 2 breaks sales records and becomes the best selling game of 2022, it's going to be pointless for Nintendo and Microsoft to sit in Advanced Wars and GoldenEye.

And Konami will announce Goemon and Tiny Toons collections in the direct.
holy shit I wish
You all are killing me, haha! :ROFLMAO: I'd love nothing more than both of those, haha! You know that though @The Giant with Ebisumaru as your avatar, haha! Call it into being!

Great recap, and I want all of them, haha! It'd sure be nice for August to have a few surprises, but even having a Splatoon 3 showcase and Indie World would be great. It would at least seem like more than July, haha! Though, like you mentioned, we did have flutes, and ought to be thankful for that, haha! :ROFLMAO:

This seems like a good plan!

What if there is no general direct this year? A small partner Direct in September and then a general direct in March showcasing the new Zelda game and Switch hardware for an august launch?

Well, even in the (prolly very unlikely) case that there is no more general Direct in 2022 this would still be a false statement as we had a general Direct at the beginning of the year! ;D

a general direct in March showcasing the new Zelda game
March I feel is the absolute latest they wait to show a game with a "Spring 2023" release window. Unless I missed a date, my personal bet would be February since that's been the most common month in recent years for General/Mini non-specific game directs usually focusing on upcoming games for the first half of the year:

January 11, 2018
March 8, 2018
February 13, 2019
March 26, 2020
February 17, 2021
February 9, 2022
