If BOTW2 releases this year, i think it's pretty much a lock that we'll see TP and WW next year. We've been getting Zelda releases every year for quite a while.
Assuming we aren't getting a different Zelda game next year...

define 'classic' for mebotw is so far removed from classic zelda that I think they could honestly coexist
I Would love a Minish Cap remake like Link´s Awakening! that game is so good!Haven’t had a new 2D Zelda since A Link Between Worlds. 8 years? 8 years. It’s past due for a new game in this series.

part of me wonders if Nintendo doesn't know what to do with 2D Zelda, and I don't necessarily mean just from a lack of management resources.
making 2D Zelda the 'traditional classic zelda' experience would make sense, but the thing is, people forget ALBW was basically the game to set zelda on the right track they're currently going down with BOTW. if they want to continue to innovate with 2D Zelda, then the issue is it would probably be a lot of the same kind of evolutions that 3D Zelda is going through.
I guess just being a "dungeon-oriented" game would be enough to differentiate itself, along with the fact that a top-down perspective would make things like free-climbing and an emphasis on physics unlikely. but then that begs the question of where to go with the series, still. and honestly, I want them to retain the open-endedness of dungeon order, but don't want dungeons to only require like one item, either. something more akin to ALTTP I guess.
I would love a brand new 2D Zelda. Nintendo remakes aren't worth it when you're a big fan of the series because they rarely change things besides QOL and graphics.
Draw your own conclusion, but the Monolith soft comment was objectively incorrect and was piggybacked from a source that didn’t even really say that and was taken out of context, other scenarios? Like I said, draw your own conclusion and look at it from an outsider seeing in, not from someone inside the circle looking at the others inside the same circle. If your gut says something that spurred you to question this because it feels wrong… trust your gut on this.Is Nate actually credible? He said Monolith Soft worked on PLA which was debunked (now this false claim annoyingly has spread like wildfire across the gaming community). He quote retweets info from other gaming sites on his Twitter and says "This is correct" to give the impression he already knew about the info (if he did, why isn't he the first break it?). He got Switch Pro wrong.
Is there a reason why people hold him in high regard?
I would definitely like a brand new Zelda in the classic OoT style tbh. I think Zelda is a big enough franchise to have both 2D, linear 3D and open world 3D games.botw is so far removed from classic zelda that I think they could honestly coexist
I don't want Wind Waker HD this year because it would mean probably no BOTW2 this year.
I think Nintendo knows not to release 2 3D Zeldas in the same year, even if they are spread out and even if there probably wouldn't be any sales effect. There's still a chance some people would hold off one or the other because they know they already have a huge epic Zelda adventure to play. Plus we just got Skyward Sword HD last year.
Yeah that'd be cool, and it might actually be (read: almost certainly be) more natural of an implementation by default than Skyward Sword's was, too. They could always make it more Metroid-like plus try to realize what they set out to do with Skyward Sword and the blurring of overworld and dungeons.
I hope Grezzo is making a Triforce Heroes 2. I'm the only one who loved that game, but it has so much potential!Genuinely surprised there hasn’t been a multiplayer 2D Zelda on Switch actually. I would’ve thought Nintendo wouldn’t be able to help themselves from doing that
I guess my problem with this is that if you're someone who wasn't a huge fan of ALBW (like me) due to the item system and open-ended nature of it, since BOTW also has a huge emphasis on freedom, then we're kind of left without anything in the older-style Zelda vein. What I want most out of a new 2D Zelda is something more like the Oracle games, but modernized. Those are my favorite 2D Zeldas by a wide margin.part of me wonders if Nintendo doesn't know what to do with 2D Zelda, and I don't necessarily mean just from a lack of management resources.

It’s really good. Music isI really need to pick up Cadence of Hyrule one of these days. It's the closet we have to a new 2d Zelda.
The future of 2D Zelda is a bit bleak to me.
sorry last thing for real this time
@Raccoon tell me this jam doesn’t make you wanna fuck around and find out

Same here lol. I want more details on the next FE!Man I want new FE and Xenoblade info so badly, this direct cannot come soon enough, I must be sated
That’s a thing?we better get that damn ChuChu Rocket on Switch
I mean its almost guaranteed to be within the next 2 weeks, we just don't know if it will be this week or the week after and we haven't had any insider indication one way or the other unfortunatelyDo we have any solid intel on timing for next direct? I'm so hungry I'll even take unreliable scoops
Apple Arcade got a new oneThat’s a thing?
Hmm yeah... The thing keeping me from feeling like it's absolutely gonna happen is... Well, following Nintendo for my whole life hahaha. The second you think something is a pattern, Nintendo is like, nah dawg, not todayI mean its almost guaranteed to be within the next 2 weeks, we just don't know if it will be this week or the week after and we haven't had any insider indication one way or the other unfortunately
Some kind of Mario game is possible but I'm not sure it has to be necessarily 3D... In fact some kind of spin-off or even a 2D one would be easier, IMO...Does anyone have a summary of rumored but unannounced games for this year? I’ve seen
-Prime HD remake
-Xenoblade 3
-Mario 3D Mario to launch with Movie
Anything else?
That'd actually be hype, I've been playing it on PC for the last few months and I'd love to be able to play it with my switch friends (if possible, since the current console versions have crossplay). It's a really good game.Hmm, I wonder if we'll see a Splitgate port announced at this Direct. The devs said they were hoping to port it last year: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2...player_shooter_splitgate_could_come_to_switch
We could get 2D Zelda this year or 2023.
My dream was BOTW 2 in 2021, 2D Zelda in 2022, and WW/TP in 2023.
I really think we are getting a 2D Zelda soon. The latest should be 2024.
Because being first isn't always the best idea, especially if sources/contacts have not given permission to go public with the information. If someone else breaks elements of the story then those restrictions are lifted.
PLA info may have been wrong and my contact on it likely misunderstood how Mononlith or an employee/s may have assisted or been involved. It happens.
Out of all the big games I think 3D Mario is the least likely we get this year. Mario spin-off is always a good prediction. Some kind of Mario game is possible pero not sure it has to be necessarily 3D... In fact some kind of spin-off or even a 2D one would be easier, IMO...
This feels a little needlessly hostile over something that was never a big deal in the first place. It isn't "may have been wrong", it was categorically wrong. We have the credits and not a single employee from Monolith or even slightly related was credited. It wasn't the case for previous games as well.
For real. Some people take this stuff way too serious. We know it wasn’t right, yet people get hostile over some spilled milk. This feels a little needlessly hostile over something that was never a big deal in the first place.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the glory that is Poppi dancing at night:reaffirming that monolith soft doesn't matter at all
