If I get

Batman Arkham Collection
New Fire Emblem
Xenoblade 3
Goldeneye 007
Mario Party Superstars dlc
Chrono Cross
Metroid Prime Remakester

+

New trailer for Kirby
Triangle Strategy demo
Splatoon 3 trailer
Advance Wars Reboot camp trailer
Other third party stuff

This will probably be the greatest Direct during Switch era for me.
First party wise, we'll probably get two big reveals and one small reveal. I think it should be a combination of two of FE, XBL3, Metroid Prime and DK. My money is on DK + Metroid but all the other combinations are valid too. I just don't think they'd reveal a FE game before Advance Wars is out.

For a small game, I'm thinking a Pushmo compilation.

What I'm saying is that I didn't see any of the usual suspect insiders say anything about XC3 until Melia's VA said something. That it makes sense is beside the point. Takahashi iirc downright said they were working on Torna and XCDE alongside a new game. Any XC3 discussion only gained traction after the comment, not before.
Well yeah, of course conversation about a sequel ramps up after a high profile actress (especially in Britain) accidentally lets something slip. If you were a journalist, would you avoid pursuing the story, or would you see if you could find out whether or not there's any truth to what she's said?

VGC ran the first report, if I remember correctly, and then naturally other places pick up on what they've said. Who exactly have you got an issue with here? VGC for running a story? The Internet in general for amplifying a story? If you disbelieve VGC's reporting, what does it matter if other people believe it? If VGC's reporting tracks with other potential information about the game, like development timelines, doesn't that lend more credence to it, which further supports conversation about the topic?
Only just now an insider latched onto an accidental listing by a retailer. I've lurked around this forum for a few days now and the amount of putting insiders on a pedestal that's happening on here is ridiculous.
Clearly you've never seen people talk about SamusHunter.
I would even say sickening with the amount of blatant manipulation that I've seen. Say the most nebulous non-things and get people to almost worship you.
Ah right, I see. You think it's valid to describe community behaviour as 'sickening'.
I know people in game dev, I'd have interesting tidbits to share, but I won't risk someone's career and their friendship. I've heard about means to keep as little people as possible from knowing things, so it's hard for me to believe that there're all these people who are constantly talking to the same few people, potentially breaking NDAs.
So who exactly is behaving like this and endangering their sources? Have you got proof for that? Why fling accusations in the most general way, when you seem to have identified specific behaviour?
Also for what it's worth I've heard unfavourable opinions about games that were positively received by the fanbase at large, perhaps even to the point it's a fan favourite.
No idea how this is relevant to our conversation. Again, put out specifics instead of flinging accusations everywhere without having the decency to back yourself up.

I’d be completely happy with any combination of these first party games. I love them all. We could get DK + Xenoblade I’d be happy or Fire Emblem + Metroid. All combinations are good for me.

Hello, just joined :D. In terms of my predictions i feel like the Cold Open/First Game that is going to be revealed will be Fire Emblem - i feel like Xenoblade or Zelda if it does happen will be saved till the end.

My bet in terms of the two reveals will be Fire Emblem and Xenoblade - don't really see Zelda update till summer and DK is possible but i am less sure

Direct with xenoblade 3, batman arkham ports, Remnant from the ashes, and FF pixel remasters sounds great!

As it's raining and windy in the Netherlands (great stay at home weather), time for some Direct preditions;

Currently flip flopping between this week of next week. I'm personally leaning towards next week at the moment.

Nintendo Direct 17.02.2022

  • Opens with Splatoon 3. More footage of the singleplayer campaign, returning characters, new modes. Release June 2022.
  • Headlines; Batman Arkham Collection (Asylum on the cart, City as download... Arkham Knight as a cloud game).
  • Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will release as cloud games too.
  • Chocobo Racing Reminder
  • Triangle Strategy Reminder
  • Atelier Sophie 2 Reminder

- Kirby's & the Forgotten Land trailer + a Kirby celebration thing

- Stinky Horse for Everyone reveal. Thanks, we hate it. May 2022

- Resident Evil Revelations 3; Rebecca as the main character, takes place after that weird movie where she was abducted. Trailer ends with a note from... Billy Coen? 2022.

- Headlines 2; Advance Wars Rebootcamp, April 2022. Ezio Collection reminder, Mass Effect Collection, 2022, some third party games I did not expect.

- Bayonetta 3 Story trailer, August 2022.

- One more thing: new Fire Emblem. Not a school setting. More akin like the Tellius games in terms of setting. 2022.

Sadly, XB 3, Breath of the Wild 2 and Metroid Prime remaster are held back for later Directs.
Fairly realistic but also kinda boring, i am not sure if we are going to get a Bayonetta update at this Direct

Sorry - Double Post

I feel like Bayonetta 3 skips this Direct and crops up at E3, or in the summer if E3 is cancelled, with a release date and more info then (a little like games like Luigi's Mansion 3 or Splatoon 3 skipping the next Direct after their debut footage).

But so long as it stays on course to launch in 2022 I don't really mind; it's good to finally have had some footage and a release window, even if it's just 2022.

Yo, the excitement of this thread got me nostalgic lol. It's really that time of year. Only few days to go or we reset the clock.

Nintendo going to bring in the goods.
It’s hype season. You can see the topic is picking up momentum lol. We could get a reveal in 2 days!

I agree, I don't think Bayonetta 3 pops up again until summer where it'll get a big story blowout with a date. I'd put money on September, October, or December. I think Nintendo will steer clear of November with it.

In terms of things not really rumoured, I'd love to see new stuff from Good-Feel. Obviously, my heart is set on Wario Land as their next Nintendo title, but their self-published adventure game they talked about in late 2020 sounded really interesting.

Hey, I just joined! I'll probably be lurking for the most part, but right now I'm just excited for a new Direct next week (hopefully)!

I wanted to ask some stuff about the "casual horse stinker" game:
We know it's a sequel, but do we know if it's to a Switch game or not? Also, do Emily/Nate know what the game is and are saying it's bad or have they just heard the devs aren't very enthusiastic about it?

We don’t know for sure if it’s a sequel to a Switch game (some have even theorized a Wii Music successor as a possibility), but Nate has hinted pretty heavily at it being 1-2 Switch iirc.

Nate has been hinting kinda blatantly that it's a 1, 2 Switch sequel.

Imagine Bayo being so unfashionably late for her spring Direct appointment, to the point of her not showing up before the summer Direct, smh.

Is Nate actually credible? He said Monolith Soft worked on PLA which was debunked (now this false claim annoyingly has spread like wildfire across the gaming community). He quote retweets info from other gaming sites on his Twitter and says "This is correct" to give the impression he already knew about the info (if he did, why isn't he the first break it?). He got Switch Pro wrong.

Is there a reason why people hold him in high regard?

I hope cloud versions slowly fade away, would sooner devs wait for more powerful hardware from Ninty than release cloud based versions

My Direct predictions in terms of 1st party content:

  • Brand new Fire Emlem title revealed; developed by Three Houses team at Koei Tecmo; releasing this August
  • Goldeneye 25th Anniversary Edition revealed; exclusive / free to NSO Expansion Pack subscribers; cross-play with Xbox / Game Pass; will release in March
  • Brief overview of some Genesis & N64 titles coming to NSO Expansion Pack later this year including Perfect Dark, Diddy Kong Racing, & DK 64
  • Splatoon 3 update with more info on both multiplayer and the campaign (will have more of an adventure feel than previous games); releases this June with a Test Fire starting in April
  • Everybody Switch revealed as a four player version of 1-2 Switch with new mini games / modes; releases in late May for $49.99
  • Brief reminder & update on 1st party software for spring including Kirby, Advanced Wars, & Triangle Strategy
  • Wind Waker + Twilight Princess double pack finally revealed; straight port of Wii U remasters; releasing in early May; BOTW2 confirmed for a 2022 release and that more info on the game will come at a later time
  • DLC announced for Mario Party Superstars including new boards, characters, & mini-games; more details to come at a later date
  • New Mario Super Sluggers title revealed; developed by Bandai Namco; releasing in July
  • One last thing…New 2D Donkey Kong title revealed; developed by a brand new team at EPD 8; includes the return of King K Rool and the Kremlins; will use new branding and NOT include “Country” in its title; graphically will appear similar to past titles, but EPD will shake things up a bit to make this their own; fall release window provided
Games NOT included in this Direct:

  • Breath of the Wild 2 (Will be the focus of their E3 Direct; will release in November as planned)
  • Metroid Prime Remastered (E3 reveal plus first trailer for Prime 4; title will release this fall)
  • Bayonetta 3 (E3 update; title will release this fall)
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (E3 reveal; title will release this winter)
  • New 3D Mario (E3 reveal; title will release spring 2023)
  • New Mario Kart (winter Direct reveal; title will release sometime in 2023)

Another question:
When announcing Dread, they had a disclaimer before the trailer that this is not MP4. Do you think they’re gonna do that a second time when announcing the remaster? Especially since this will look much closer to Prime 4.

If Prime Remastered is coming out in the fall, then I think they will reveal it at E3 alongside a first look at Prime 4.

Wait when was this debunked? I thought some Monolithsoft employees were indeed in the credits.

Actually, Noriko Uono, who is credited in the FIELD DESIGN TEAM of PLA is from Monolith Kyoto. However, looking at her gameography, the only Xenoblade she's worked on is Xenoblade X for which she did icon design. The rest are other Nintendo IPs.

Then there's employees from Seven Dreams Inc., a support studio who Monolith outsourced to for Xenoblade 2, who Nate may have mistook as Monolith employees.

I don't think it's enough to say Monolith Soft worked on PLA. If they had any meaningful involvement, it would be listed in their games section on their website and the company would be credited in the game.

Is there any chance that the horse game is related to Miitopia? There was a horse character in that game if I remember well.
I know Miitopia has a following, but a lot of people consider it a bad game.
it is all but confirmed to be 1-2 Switch

I think some of these game announcements still depend on if a Switch Pro or Switch 2 (more this)is coming soon. Something HAS to be held for Nintendos next system IF coming soon. Nintendo could hold back announcing stuff only if a more powerful system is coming.

If we get Mario Kart 9 on this Switch, then yeah it could be announced anytime.

No because they'll show Metroid Prime 4, and then right after they'll announce Metroid Prime Remaster.
Like, they'll show the first trailer for MP4. Right after, Takahashi or Koizumi will talk about it briefly, and say something among the lines of "and while you're waiting for its release next year, we have something else to keep you waiting this year...", and then announce Metroid Prime remaster.
This won't be this direct. A remaster of Metroid Prime definitely isn't something Nintendo will announce more than 6 months ahead imo.
Announce it at E3 for a November release. (The month of the 20th anniversary)
Metroid Prime 4 also definitely feel like something they would show again at E3 anyway.

Miitopia just got ported less than a year ago, so I doubt we'll see a sequel anytime soon (especially since the port was a remaster/deluxe version essentially). And most people generally liked Miitopia, it just wasn't a huge game.

Metroid Prime Remaster should definitely not be releasing in November because that’s its anniversary month. It’s not important. The September-October time is good enough. November will be BotW 2, Mario Kart 9, 3D Mario or maybe the new DK game depending on what it is.

Pokémon I have dlc for Legends, which could also come in November since Nintendo likes multiple pieces of content in months or another third party game.

I mean Nate explicitly said they had a very minor involvement.

I also immediately thought of Miitopia when I heard out of context the rumor about a horse game lol
But when I knew Emily said it was a stinker game, I knew it was 1 2 Switch.
For Emily to use that word, I'm sure even the likes of Amiibo Festival for instance wouldn't qualify, Emily doesn't strike me as a person who would use that strong of a word to make a value judgement over a game, it really have to be that bad lol.

Also, the thing is that apparently, even internaly (I suppose at NoA and NoE) they consider it a bad/embarassing game. I'm sure Nintendo folks think Miitopia is lovely.
