Reminder that there is a $5 eShop card raffle ongoing in this thread, all you need to do is post a picture of food and some comments about why/when/what you cooked/ate/saw it.

So far only 5 people have entered this week's raffle.

It looks like bland *** but it's really tasty.

I also meant to point out that any other Microsoft IP is a vastly different situation from Halo—Halo is their single killer app, the one golden egg IP that they know is the reason why many people buy their hardware. I don't think their past IPs coming to Switch is evidence at all of Halo coming to Switch.

I'm not trying to be contrarian—to me it's the difference between Nintendo letting Fire Emblem on PlayStation, and Nintendo letting Mario on PlayStation.
I'm not sure if they're as strict on that as Nintendo and Sony are. Eventually Nintendo did release mobile games, didn't they? But Microsoft ain't ever going into the handheld market or something, outside of the Windows Phones that are no more. Also, they have a lot more to lose than Sony by releasing their games on Steam, including Halo, rather than exclusively on their Xbox Live subscription ecosystem, but they do.

Age of Empires thrived on the PC ecosystem too, it was Microsoft's Halo before Halo. Viva Pinata, uh, struggled, so yeah. But it was kinda of prolific, probably Rare's most prolific franchise under Microsoft until then... which is sad lmao. I give you that one. But yeah, I don't think it's as impossible as Mario on Playstation, not at all. But of course, there are lots of "buts".

Honest to goodness; I wouldn't lie on the internet for clout (heh). My buddy was big into modding consoles back in high school, had a decent little side hustle going on for it. PSPs, 360s, hell I remember he bought the black Wii specifically when it was released so he could tear it apart and replace the blue LED with a red light, and it looked SICK. But yeah, he had a spare R4 chip and while I was always concerned about piracy and The Law™ coming to find me, he loaded up the leaked build of the game onto both and we were able to play wirelessly. Controls were absolute ass because you had to use the stylus on the touch screen to aim (which was also your radar) and I swear the kind of claw you had to contort your right hand into to use any of the face buttons was obscene, but I remember you could dual wield the plasma rifle and it held our attention for all of a collective 15 minutes before the novelty wore off and we went back to playing Halo Reach.

Nobody's gonna understand besides Sus most likely, but I loathe the Toronto Sun (Think Canadian Fox News)

At least there's some level of enjoyment reading the nonsense posted there if you a laugh, but after a while, it just becomes sad :/

Nintendo in March = :cool::cool::cool:
Oh, I know the kind of trash rag it is. Hell, I remember my grandma once got a copy of Your Ward News in her mailbox once, and all the hateful rhetoric that was spewed on that waste of paper. She kept it as a conversational piece once in the Before times, not sure where it got to after she passed away. It's just so outlandish that you can't look away like some kind of horrific trainwreck, like a collective body of people have such little intelligence combined that all they know is to hate what they don't know (which...seems to be just about everything they can't see in a mirror).

Microsoft's whole strategy seems simple enough on the surface but it's truly an enigma when getting into the finer details. The end goal remains the same; making money. But between GamePass, select Bethesda games going through to other consoles and especially the support given to Smash Bros and NSO, I don't think anyone outside board meetings has an idea of what the plan is to make the most money whether by moving software, moving hardware, or moving software that moves hardware.

It looks like bland *** but it's really tasty.

The only paper I routinely read is the Toronto Star. Its not perfect, but for the type of news I gravitate towards, it works. I also read BlogTO, but for different reasons than keeping up-to-date with Canadian politics.

Anyway, talking about games, it seems Legends Arceus has EXP share

My friend Christina Aguilera works at Nintendo and confirmed this

In Halo's case I would argue that perhaps just porting over some of the older Halo games, like say Halo Anniversary, wouldn't be that big of a blow to Microsoft's bottom line. It's not like anyone is really getting into the Xbox ecosystem just to play the first Halo at this point.

It’s the year of the portable backlog. Primarily will be playing (3)DS/PS(P) Vita games but will dabble in switch games. First game up is Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime.

how beautiful is this?

Gives me a Mario meets Braid vibe. I would love some more unique art styles for 2D Mario games. The Impressionist background of that one word in NSMBU would be a good foundation for a new game, but characters would need to be fully sprite based for this to work.

Year of the strategy games. My Switch makes a comeback after being primarily family console for 2021 and me doing most of my gaming on Game Pass.

Also Arceus might be the first ever MH-game I enjoy.

Exactly. Releasing older games on other platforms would help MS rather than hurt them. There are 100m Switch owners out there, just Halo Anniversary on the system as publicity would elevate Xbox as the secondary platform to those 100m Switch owners.

But I think Viva Piñata would do even better job. Switch needs Viva Piñata, piñatas need Switch. They're filled with fun...

I like to throw stuff together and don't follow recipes.

Swabian spaetzle or any other nodles.
White sausage, i remove the sausage case with a knive and cut the sasuage into little pieces.
Your favorite gravy.
One tiny cup of Schmand (Sour creme?)
If i don't cook for kids i put lot's of freshly grounded black pepper into it. The black pepper and the light gravy make a nice contrast.
And a salat as an appetizer.

Nintendo has plans for GoldenEye. I'm unsure if their plans are via NSO (I think they are) or some digital-only eShop release.
I think NSO would make a lot of sense. It'd increase the value of their subscription, which I think would be worth more to them than the 15-ish bucks they'd get from selling it on the eShop.

I routinely like to remind myself that Torontonians ain't SHIT everytime I make the mistake of reading the comments section of 6ixBuzz on IG. Absolute cesspool and it almost never passes the vibe check. I honestly need to unfollow instead of hatescroll.

ANYWAYS I guess technically if I don't get Brilliant Diamond or Shield first, this will be my first encounter with the party wide EXP share
how beautiful is this?

That is stunning. This a fan mockup or an actual game? (actually don't tell me I don't want it C&D'd)

Oh I'm an awful chef; I need recipes and will follow them so militantly to the point I will use tweezers to remove grains of sugar until it is precisely 1/2 teaspoon 😅 Mein Deutsch ist nicht gut aber danke schön!

I think the best of both worlds would to be let the definitive Goldeneye version of Goldeneye on the eShop but also have the original N64 game on NSO. I think everyone wins in this case: both consoles get the upgraded version but the original untouched version is available as a free perk for those who bought into NSO.

I still just think it'd be kinda weird to see Nintendo more than willing to let Microsoft get away with the infinitely better version of what is essentially their game. Yeah I know Switch is only getting the N64 version of Banjo, but to me that's a little different considering that IP has fully belonged to Microsoft since 2002 and they can do whatever they please with it, while Nintendo still has some ownership over Goldeneye.

Alternatively they could also just flat out put out this XBLA remaster of Goldeneye on Switch, but an exclusive free game for the Expansion Pass, just like Tetris 99. That'd be insane.

I agree; in this instance having GoldenEye as NSO Expansions free game along the same lines as Tetris 99 would be a huge get, and would appeal to the nostalgia crowd as much as Tetris 99 does with the NES and SNES fanbase.

Genuinely wonder if Geoff's tweet was scheduled or if he was sitting on that image with his finger hovering over that 'Tweet' button

The only card that the ESA has on their sleeves is trying a new City every Summer, just for the novelty of it. If that doesn't work, they are doomed. Sadly, there aren't any needs for middleman in today's economy. I feel companies just participate for traditions.

I believe it is NSO -- plus N64 controller for that sweet nostalgia. I just don't have 100% confirmation... more like 90%. Just know Nintendo has plans for GoldenEye as a 100% thing.

I just wanna say...

Goldeneye on NSO
Goldeneye is coming to the service
Goldeneye on NSO+EP (along with that long-ago leaked Xbox remaster on Game Pass)
Goldeneye on NSO
Goldeneye on NSO
goldeneye is comin to nso
Goldeneye on NSO

I HAVE been calling this since November. Originally I thought this was gonna be their Game Awards announcement but I guess now's as good a time as any!

when do I get my "insider" badge???

Goldeneye of course doesn't hold up control wise but I think the single player structure and missions hold up really well, especially today. More than just shooting, each mission was like a puzzle to solve. Instead of just gunning to the end, you needed to complete your objectives. At higher difficulties, you got even more objectives which is a great way to increase difficulty than simply making the enemies hit harder. When going for the cheats unlocks, you have to beat missions in a certain time on a specific difficulty. It becomes yet another layer of depth.

When people talk about Goldeneye, they are often just focus on the controls and the multiplayer. But that single player, it was damn good. Sure, somethings will feel old and there is a lot of trail-and-error, but it gives an experience not often seen today. It was a genius was make the FPS genre unique on consoles. Instead of competing with the fast pace shooters of the time which of course consoles would struggle to do, Goldeneye slowed things down and tasked you with accomplishing other than just winning gunfights.

1) This is further evidence for my pet theory that TGA only exists because the industry wants a winter event but everyone is burnt the eff out trying to ship before Black Friday

2) This just pushed me into the “I’m skipping PAX East” camp. If they’re not feeling things are going to be safe by summer, that doesn’t bode well for an April event

I know it's not really related to Nintendo but, damn, this February it'll be 3 years since we last got a Telltale Traveller's Tales Lego game (and the last one wasn't exactly a 'typical' Lego game).

I hope Skywalker Saga is good, even if I honestly have very little attachment to said saga these days. Noooo way I'll be playing it on Switch, though. The games are good for the console but, no, not with those framerates lol

As a Goldeneye and Perfectdark junkie it was a crime that these games didn't reach wiimote tech, they were practically designed for that controller before wiimote was even a prototype.

I'm start to believing it's a full fledged LEGO Sonic game, after their well received experiment in LEGO Dimensions;

Not to hopeful in a LEGO Super Mario game, as much I'd prefer it tho...

I don't want to alarm anyone but YouTube pushed a video from a channel called Blue Shell. I didn't click, but the thumbnail promises reports of Nintendo's entire year leaking including:

The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Secrets with boxart showing toy Link.

Metroid Prime

Donkey Kong Odyssey

Pokémon Let's Go Pichu

Is this channel credible? I'd have assumed this would be more discussed if there was anything to it.

That sounds like just repeating what markomaro said, who doesn't know anything.

Also including a second big Game Freak project in 2022 is a pretty big red flag for any list.

Tho i will die for Donkey Kong Odyssey where DK characters wear a suits in new donk city and play some music with Pauline’s band
