Mario, Metal Gear, Sonic, and Dave the Diver.

Yeah, it'll be quite a full month for me. I wish one of them came out closer to the early part of October.
 
It seems there is a ton of variety this month. I would think there should be a little something for everybody here.

My picks for the month:

  • Mario Wonder - Day 1, excited to play this with the family.
  • Disgaea 7 - The demo of this sold me on it.
  • Dave the Diver - Assuming no performance issues on Switch. I'm really looking forward to this one and it's been hard not just getting it on Steam.

A jam packed October! Too bad there's no spooky halloween game this time around, like last years RE8 cloud or 2021's Fatal Frame. Ah well, lots of other stuff to deal with:

Hellboy Web of Wyrd (I need to see more of that gameplay. Sounds like a small package)
Dave the Diver (Demo didn't sell me on it enough. Deep sea exploration nice but feels it could get old fast)
Dark Anthology Little Hope (loved the first one on Switch, could this be any good too? I heard people saying it's not)
CRYMACHINA (Again, a game I loved its prequel. But I need more reviews first)

Also, this month should be an Indie World month. There could be some big shadow drops. Like... Alien Hominid HD? God, I hope so.

I'm probably getting Dave the Diver day one, if there are no technical issues. Enjoyed the demo a whole ton.

It runs super well on Steam Deck, which I know has way more horsepower than Switch. I don’t think they’d do a demo a month ahead of release if they weren’t confident

PictoPull sounded very generic and I'm not sure why I even clicked it, but turns out it's an indie Pullblox/Pushmo clone. Doesn't look very polished, but after spending some time with the great 3DS originals earlier in the year, I am up for more.

Barring any kind of crazy sales or surprise releases, just Super Mario Wonder for me. Sonic Superstars will probably get a sale soon enough, I can wait until then.

It's dated for the 19th and has a page on the UK eShop but it isn't available for purchase yet.
 
Front Mission 2 for me next week, then on to Mario! It’ll be the first time I’ve picked up a Mario game at launch since SMB3 on the NES :D
 
What's up with the Switch port for Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong?

I think I've seen it listed for September 28th, late October, late November and none of the above.

Something came up and blocked the NA release of the game. It's out right now in the European eShop, you can get it from there. Australian eShop doesn't block CC's.

Tents and Trees is the Dr. Mario to Picross' Tetris. You're using the same mechanics to accomplish a different goal. The presentation is pleasant and once I got the hang of how to solve the puzzles I found it to be pretty addictive. I really enjoyed the game and think it's a good complement to Picross. If you like Picross there's a good chance you'll like Tents and Trees. It's got a demo on the eShop so I'd say give that a shot.
 
The Dark Pictures Anthology Little Hope is out now on Switch. I picked it up and checked it out. The opening area looks pretty rough, but after that the game is little better. I will continue to play this some more and maybe even check out Multiplayer this weekend.

Doesn't seem 24fps like the first one and resolution also seems to be fine. I guess Supermassive learned a lot about Switch while doing Little Nightmares III.

Will get this one soon and I hope the third game makes it too. They say that one is the best in the series.

There's 4 games I'm hoping to get on sale next month(tho one may wait): MR Sparks of Hope Gold (if it hits $20), Pikmin 1/2, sonic frontiers(if it hits $20) and Fate samurai remnant
I’d be tempted if Metroid prime remastered ever went on sale

Not sure if this really fits the criteria but I've heard good things about the SFC version of Kirby's Star Stacker and that's on NSO. I keep meaning to check it out.

I was curious about Dave the Diver, but tried the demo and wasn't that into it. Outside Mario I've only bought the Watermelon Game this month, but at least there's still Frog Detective coming up!

That's fair, I will say that the demo barely even scratches the surface of the game. It just so consistently surprises by adding more and more layers as it goes on and you never know what wacky thing you'll discover next.

I bought Robodunk which is a really cool basketball themed roguelite. Think NBA Jam with robots where in between matches you upgrade your robots with faster passing, better dunking ability etc. It's got a lot of personality as in the campaign mode you can unlock lore for all the different teams and the descriptions are written in a very humorous manner.

Aside from that I've been playing a lot of Brotato. Ridiculously addictive game.

I hope more bullet heavens come to the Switch soon.

Yeah, I've seen a trailer for it and there's definitely more to it than the demo showed. The worry I have is that there's a lot of farming sim / resource management kind of gameplay that I'm not that much into. I know a lot of people love the game, and may give it a chance anyway.

Does anyone know when Star Ocean First Departure R is likely to be on sale next? I meant to buy it the last time it was cheap but remembered too late. I'm planning on going through it and then straight into the remake of the second game.

Also, I purchased a $50 eShop card from Costco and when I try to use the code they emailed me, I get an error that "This activation code has already been used.". Has this every happened to anybody else here? Seems odd for them to email me an already used code, but I guess I'll have to contact them and try to get a refund.

It looks like it drops to match its lowest price every 2 or 3 months, and it just came off that discount at the end of September, so I think your next likely opportunity is the end of November or December, probably around Black Friday sales time. There's always a possibility they discount it again at the start of November when the new one releases though.
