I apologize for the thread taking a few days to get up. Things are mostly automated now, so hopefully we can get this thread going up at the start of the month. Also, if anyone wants to help or offer suggestions on what games should be highlighted in the upcoming month, just send me a message or really just post your suggestion in the thread.

Pokemon is obviously the major release, though I'm quite interested in Astroneer.

Thanks for the thread!

It is not a full game, but the Queen and the Sea Expansion for Dead Cells launches later today, for those that are interested.

Arcadia Fallen looks very cool for something I have never heard of before.
There's a few hidden gems this month. Just checked a video of McDROID and it looks like a very charming and original take on the tower defense genre. Steam reviews are positivè.

Nice OP! Eat your heart out Dave Lang, Windjammers 2 is almost here! 😄

Never heard of Headland before, looks neat!

That new thread smell… not that I’m planning to buy anything for a bit

This is the first month in a while where it's looking like a lighter month to me, which is good since I can just play some backlog games. However, will check in to see what hits the sales section and such.

Thanks for making this thread!

I bought....a lot...in the christmas/new year eshop sales lol but I'm very tempted to pick up the new Dead Cells dlc today!

Thanks for the thread!

The Christmas and New Year sales put me on such a shopping spree that I win't be needing anything new for a while. I'm playing Death's Door at the moment and enjoying it a lot.

I've also played a lot of Tetris Effect, and especially its combo mode. I think I'm close to what I can reach at best woth my fingers at my current high score of around 165 (can't remember the exact score). That puts me quite high on the rankings as well, although I'm not sure if it's players from all platforms etc. and if I'm actually any good.

U.S. Eshop's New Year Sale dropped

Some quick highlights
Lego's Builder's Journey at $15
Bug Fables at $12.50
Cross Code at $12
Huntdown at $8
Kotor at $11.24
Tetris Effect at $26.79

RIP the new Bayonetta double pack isn't on sale. The only first party game of note on my wishlist is DKTF which still isn't cheap enough for me to buy a second time (sorry Funky)

Has anyone played the Switch version of Pathway? It's on sale and it's been on my radar ever since the PC early access was announced.

The gameplay, graphics and setting are all very appealing but I've held off because of middling-to-poor reviews. Recent Steam reviews seem more positive but the only Switch reviews are early and aren't as good. It's only $12.79 but I feel like I still need some convincing.

Fitness Boxing 2 is down to $35. I think I’ll go for it (I liked the demo a lot, more than Ring Fit, which I own).

Is Tetris Connected worth it if you already have 99?

If you want more of a focused/chill big-screen Tetris “experience”, sure. But ultimately it’s a pretty Tetris.

As a paper mario fan (old and new), Bug Fables peaks my interest.... but visually it just seems to lack the personality. It's just a bunch of bugs.

Lots of first party games on sale. Usually not a big deal for me cause I assume first parties will never go on sale so I just buy the ones I want, so when there's actually a sale, I already have everything I want lol

Excited for Arceus Legends, Windjammers 2, and Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth this month.

Tbh as a Tetris fan who has Tetris DS as the top Tetris experience, I think Tetris 99 is clearly the better game between the two.
Oh, wow. Tetris DS is my all time f sprite Tetris game. That must say something there haha

Tetris Effect Connected is amazing. It has far more modes than Tetris 99, which I adore. You have online zone battle, score attack, classic score attack, vs. Connected. Journey mode in three difficulties. And various effect modes which are loads of fun to play, such as Master and Purify.

Well, picked up Clubhouse, Mr. Driller, and while not on sale, picked up Chickory since I still had eshop credit left.

Did some Clubhouse tonight. Cannot wrap my head around Hanafuda lol

There’s quite a big sale once again, this time it has a few deals that are on my wishlist. Ori 1 is on sale for the first time for almost a year, this time 50% off instead of the usual 30%. There’s also the Crosscode DLC which is on sale, I originally planned to pick it up when it came out but I was busy with NEO TWEWY so I opted to wait for a sale.

That being said I still have games to play from the previous sale so I’ll hold off on both of these. I will grab that Dead Cells DLC bundle though, sounds like a good time to give that game another go. Never got past BC1, last time I played was when the first free DLC dropped. Seems like they have fixed a lot of issues I had with the game as well

Time for me to browse Deku Deals, realize I still have games I bought that I have yet to play/finish, and hold off.

Oh I remember this one, was waiting for a sale too. Well, reviews mention repetitive gameplay and kinda boring after a while so I don't think it can be salvaged at this point. Maybe with a deeper discount?

Sorry to hear Crumble was a bust, @Phil32. It looked so promising, too. I wonder if it works or runs better on PC somehow, given those highly positive Steam reviews.

It's okay! Glad I got to try it at least. It ended up just being $5 or so with stored up Gold Points, so I can't be too upset. :)

Paratopic sale is almost up, I cannot recommend this game enough.

Thanks for the new thread!

I was wondering if I could past this sale without buying anything. You know, here in Europe the sale started the day the one before expired, like when you light up another cigarette by using the one you're still smoking?

But then today I started to think about games to grab. I love to grab new games, can't help with that. So I built my bundle and spent 60 euros for:

Death's Door
Bug Fables
Darkest Dungeon Ancestral Edition
Blaster Master Zero 2
Dead Cells DLC Bundle

This eShop thing needs to stop.

Ever since the Arcade Archives series was revealed for Switch I've been waiting for Super Pac-Man, a game I played a lot back in my Atari 8-bit days, to come out, and this week it finally happened. Downloaded it with my gold coins and the nostalgia hit like a truck. A pretty fun spin on the traditional Pac-Man formula. Also the game Pac-Man's Final Smash comes from.

been curious about Penny Punching Princess for a while, worth it at the current sale price??

Any idea how either of these two perform? I hear Cross Code is a stable 60 docked.

And thank you for the new thread friends!
CrossCode runs perfectly decently. I couldn't say the exact fps, but aside from maybe 2-3 times over the entire playthrough I never had any issues with it. If you can play on an Xbox or PS console (or PC) you may see slightly better performance, but you've nothing to fear from buying on Switch.

Crosscode on Switch definitely has a few regular hiccups and slowdown I don’t believe is intentional and it does crash occasionally (I distinctly remember it crashing in the final cutscenes, thankfully it auto saves even during cutscenes. Scared me after the long intense final boss). Still an awesome game well worth playing. I think I put 70 some hours into it with the DLC?

Huntdown runs pretty flawlessly.

It's a solid 60 fps game on Switch (source: my trained eyes).

Game is absolutely spectacular, too. It goes highly recommended. At less than 10 bucks/euros it's a ridiculous bargain.

Cross Code definitely chugs when you have some environmental elements on screen, even docked. It can be disabled, then it is really smooth.
Huntdown is flawless

I couldn‘t resist buying some more digital Switch games, all of them discounted due to the European eShop sale:
— Into the Breach
— Fell Seal
— Wuppo (if I remember correctly, a Famiboards member once recommended it, and it did only cost 1.99 €)
— WHAT THE GOLF?

Looking forward to playing them! Isn‘t it incredible how many great games there are on Switch!?
