Nintendo is going to be Nintendo.
And we know that they have to make announcements sometime. There is so much on the docket that it's absolutely insane not to expect either:
Random announcements that happen via Twitter or a quick YouTube trailer.
A more specialized direct.
A full on fat, general direct.
Whether or not that information comes from a direct or anything is still completely irrelevant. This year we are still going to need information on:
Splatoon 3
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Mariokart 8 DLC
Breath of the Wild 2(as long as it's not delayed)
And even then we still don't know anything about 2023 besides Zelda. There is a ton of stuff rumored with various degrees of legitimacy that could potentially meet that 2023, or previous games that were announced like:
Fire Emblem Switch 2
Metroid Prime 4 or a potential remaster of the first game
A resident evil game made custom for Switch
A direct thread to speculate for a September direct makes sense, but should wait until late August when it would be more relevant/we get more rumbling.
This thread has been really pointless. It started as July Event thread, we even had Nate say that there probably isn't anything coming and we still kept it going. Then it devolved into a tweet anticipation/speculation thread with that weird attention seeking No Directs Ever Again tag. All just one big thread trying to will something into existence from nothing.
Also don't care about marvel so I really don't know what all that's about.
The problem is, we did get a shit ton of stuff this July.
We got:
A release date and new trailer for Bayonetta 3
A new Kirby spinoff announced
A new Splatoon Oled Switch
Stuff for Livealive and Xenoblade 3
Closing this thread makes absolutely no sense, and I think that turning it into a "direct thread" would increase expectations to an unreasonable level. This should just be labeled as a Nintendo Announcement thread for thr time being. Because, there is a ton of stuff coming, but it may not be a Nintendo direct.
First on the docket is Splatoon 3 marketing, it could be a direct, or a series of trailers, or anything. They will have to start that early August, especially if we have to do a test fire.
Pokémon marketing needs to begin soon as well, especially considering that the announcement wasn't marketed in NA due to Ukraine.
Neither of these things could be in a Direct, or they could both be theoretically. And these things can come at any time. And if people are tired of speculation, just put this thread on the ignore list for a bit. It seems wrong to kick a community out of an active thread.
