one of the things it has going for it in my eyes is that it is NOT Persona. A lot of tidbits I heard about P5 kept me from trying it out.

I’m one of those haters who takes issue with several things in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and only tried a small amount of it before tapping out. However, I’ve been enjoying the first Xenoblade Chronicles for the most part (I’m only ~8 or so hours in and I am not especially good at it).

I have never played any Atlus game.

In terms of my anime tolerance, shows that I have watched and don’t have major issues with are:
  • Mushi-shi (because it’s perfect)
  • Fullmetal Alchemist (the first series rides the line but is overall good. Brotherhood, however, pulls some gross shit every now and then)
  • Attack on Titan (not flawless but pretty good)
Versus things like:
  • Cowboy Bebop (still a masterpiece but incredibly hard to rewatch due to the casual misogyny, sexual violence towards women, and obnoxious fanservicey bullshit)
  • uhhhh most of the rest of it
and like… I can deal with a certain amount of cringe. Like there are definitely some eyeroll moments in BotW for me.

but if I get into SMTV at some point, what should I be aware of?

from what I understand there’s a giant terrible penis demon? but that mostly sounds funny, as long as it doesn’t say gross shit or have fucked up attack animations

I have low tolerance for that stuff too and SMT is generally pretty free of it. III has nothing I can remember, IV started to have a few sexualized women as demon designs (the lead designer changed) but they aren't important to the plot and are sparse. The franchise has always been comfortable with nudity, you will find boobs and dicks out there casually, but it's usually not sexualized, it's more tied to mythology and iconoclastic in a way. Mara is the most extreme example of how the series deals with nudity. In mythology, he's a demon that tried to tempt Buddha, so the design makes sense in a subverted way.

I can't talk about V for sure because it has a high school setting and female characters that I don't know how are going to be depicted, but the franchise has a good track record on that department.

That was supposed to encourage the player to play with friends but... I don't have any lol.

Jk, I did beat the game once with my husband and he rarely likes any game, but still, having to beat every level 5 times is too much, even if you have friends it's unlikely one of them will want to go through the entire game with you, let alone 3 people (and even if you can find three people, you're still missing one character lol).

I never got that star and I don't care.

Yeah it's a lot of work. Didn't bother on Wii U, but decided to do it on Switch since I 100% 64, Sunshine, Galaxy (Mario + Luigi), Odyssey and Bowser's Fury on my Switch, so might as well do 3D World.
I loooove 3D World but once I got all those final stamps I didn't want to hear about that game anymore lmao

Oh I keep forgetting about that leak! PC port makes total sense anyway, what with Atlus putting more stuff on there and Switch third party exclusives ending up there a year or so later. Good news for getting this to more people sooner or later.

It will get a release on PC almost certainty but apparently uproject files are close to meaningless.

I'll take the W though.

No, I get that. Let's put it this way: The games are not devoid of sexuality but are usually free from the juvenile sex jokes you'd find in some anime and anime games, the "oh I tripped and fell onto this character with comically large breasts" kind.

  • A lot of my hyperbole was meant humorously, but a lot of my flip-flopping comes from my genuinely unstable base of opinions and my unstable emotional state
  • Again, this was also mixed in with my tendency to play up my own neuroses for comedy, to terrible effect. For instance, while I thought bringing up ResetEra all the time in the way it was done recently was bad, I wasn't nearly as upset as I let on
  • As great as you all are, I deeply regret joining ResetEra. I regret joining other places even more.
  • I should have quit while I was ahead.

that’s decent. I’m like mostly worried about the writing leveraging the demon scenario to have, idk, a demon played for comedic effect that just says shock value things involving sexual assault, etc

First party wise, Nintendo never disappoints, that's for sure.

Switch's third party future on the other hand, never is a sure thing. But I do have a feeling Square will be the winner next year.

With Breath of the Wild 2, the year 2022 is arguably better than 2017. (My personal opinion)

Without Breath of the Wild 2, the year 2022 would still be extremely stacked. At least on par with 2019's software lineup.
