I was curious, do y’all like the new way Yeah’s are displayed or the old way? I kind of liked the original way since seeing the names across posts felt more friendly/lively, but I guess more quiet yeahs are fine too.

I prefer the original way, only because it's one less click. I understand and appreciate that the new way looks cleaner overall, but I prefer being able to see without having to stop and click. Granted it's not exactly a huge deal.
For those interested, with the downloads now being counted, the Pokemon D/P remakes are now listed on the top 30 eshop bestsellers.
With a little less than a week to go, in the US eshop:
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond is # 2.
Pokemon Shining Pearl is at # 5.
The Double Pack is at # 9.
For comparison, Mario Party Superstars is still hanging out at #1, the Standard and Digital Deluxe versions of SMT5 are at #6 & 17 respectively, and Metroid Dread is at #8.
Either way, it's good to see how many new and soon to be released games are in the top 30 right now, including the GTA Trilogy, Star Wars: KOTOR remaster, and Unpacked which is doing very well.
So this is weird, but I was invited to a Christmas party and we're expected to "dress festive," and I'm thinking of copping out and just doing an ugly Christmas sweater but I'm not sure.. I looked up "video game Christmas sweaters" and found a few (kinda expensive) ones, but I'm not really caught up on geek apparel sites so maybe there's more than google is showing me? If any AmeriFam would be able to recommend some geek shirt sites I could browse that do holiday stuff so I can talk myself out of getting this cheap political one I found on eBay I'd appreciates it.
that’s a really interesting view on it, and I retroactively wish that wholesomeness upon you
I also grew up in some rough neighborhoods and that’s one of the many reasons that someone or something appearing in my home without being summoned makes me feel like shitting out my spine
though nothing breaks your sense of security like being more afraid of the people inside the house
a home that I feel safe in is something I have had to claw out of this earth
and that’s not even accounting for my chaos brain and the occasional mild hallucination
like I protect our tiny apartment with my life because it’s the safest I have ever felt, and even then I’ve had my hard-won sense of mild security shaken by the fire last year and then the asphyxiation this year, plus our increased COVID risk and something else that happened right before COVID hit too that I don’t really want to get into
so one more unexpected thing entering my space without permission isn’t a blessing in my world. especially not a hairy little tulpa talking at me in a language that sounds almost like human phonemes but instead is deeply cursed.
Pokémon with the 2nd, 5th and 9th spot on the NA eshop.
Think we got another monster here. And both versions doing pretty well. Sword and Shield was one of the most on sided Pokémon titles I’ve seen where sword was way more popular then shield
You know the games that gave me a strong impression and would probably be my GOTY are Bravely Default 2 and Monster Hunter Rise (Haven't finished Tales of Arise yet).
However, the moment I started playing SMT V I knew it was gonna be my GOTY because this is one gem of a game. The atmosphere, exploration, and music are just untouched. Like if you have really good speakers the OST is chef kiss. I also can't wait until the turn-base system really opens up as well.
lol was so excited for SMTV but it got here way too late and I was too tired after work, so I just watched TV and now I’m just too sleepy. Those demons gonna have to wait til tomorrow!
You ever just want to play a video game, but a mix of a huge backlog plus anxiety means you can't decide what to play so you end up playing nothing instead? It's great, I highly recommend it.
Yeah, I had the show on my to-watch-list for ... almost two years now? haha
Now that I've finished season 1, I regret not having watched it earlier. Then again, I probably won't touch season 2 (for the time being), given what I've read online, lmao.
It's been a long time since I've liked an anime this much.

I still remember when the manga came out, read chapter 1 (only 1 chapter available since it just started), I was immediately hooked. Season 1 is a perfect adaptation and yet...I don't and will not understand why they went in such a baffling and shitting direction for season 2????
Probably the most confusing and worst adaptation of a manga in recent memory.
...now that you say it, sure why not? Even though I personally thought the manga also started to tumble the further it got to the end, it was NOWHERE NEAR as bad as the anime was. The last episode of S2.. I prefer not to speak.
Honestly I can think of a few anime in bitter need of a re-adaptation. Soul Eater & Berserk please...
2022 is already looking pretty good, and we're still months out from the start of the year.
That's of course without even taking into account the rumored titles that should be showing up, like Xenoblade 3 and Metroid Prime Remastered; plus others indicated by job listings that have to show up sooner or later like Style Savvy and EPD Kyoto / Tokyo's 2D Action Game Project(s).
I always like these visual representations because it's a reminder of how much stuff Nintendo release but we always get prediction lists for like 10 or 11 games a year. Granted, some things are much easier to predict than others. Who knows what eShop stuff could drop, for example, and that can easily add 3 or 4 games to an annual release list.
But 2022 looking promising. I don't think Nintendo had an especially great year this year, but they still produced a fun new take on WarioWare, one of my favourite Switch games in Dread, international remakes for Detective Club, and smartly improved versions of Skyward Sword and Mario 3D World. Overall the offering on Switch has been strong, though, and that's without me having got around to indies like Disco Elysium, Eastward, or Toem just yet.
January: Pokemon Legends [Game Freak]
February: fog for N64 games, no button remapping [NERD]
March: Triangle Strategy [Team Asano + Artdink], Buddy Mission BOND (international eShop release) [Koei-Tecmo]
April: Advance Wars Reboot Camp [Way Forward], Kirby and the Forgotten Land [HAL Laboratory]
May: Casual Stinker/Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival (Port) [ndCube]
June: Poochy + Yoshi's Woolly World (Port) [Good-Feel], Fire Emblem Echoes: the Holy War [Intelligent Systems + Koei-Tecmo]
July: Splatoon 3 [EPD 5], Detective Pikachu: The Forbidden Tutu - Starring Danny DeVito [Creatures Inc]
August: Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope [Ubisoft Milan]
September: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 [Monolith Soft Production Group 1], GameBoy NSO [NERD], Sports Resort Adventure [EPD 4]
October: Metroid Prime HD [Retro Studios + NST], Super Mario: The Movie: The Videogame [EPD 8 + 1-Up Studio]
November: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2: Undead Ganon's Flying Castle [EPD 3 + Monolith Soft Production Group 2], Pokemon Legends Expansion [Game Freak]
December: Bayonetta 3 [Platinum]
So you'll read that list and think "Boy, that's too packed!" but remember, a big chunk of this list consists of:
2 ports
1 international, eShop only release of a previously released game
2 third-party games
1 remaster
1 DLC expansion
1 NSO app
If anything, I'd expect more Nintendo-published third-party titles than the 2 confirmed so far. Dragon Quest in some form (either X or III Remake) seems likely in 2022 and odds are that's a Nintendo-published release.
I'll admit it's bold to predict four internally-developed EPD titles in one year, but at some point, that bunch of internal projects needs to begin to appear. We got two big EPD titles in 2019, by way of comparison, in the form of Mario Maker 2 and Ring Fit Adventure, and only one in 2020 (Animal Crossing). Game Builder Garage remains EPD's only release this year.
I'm assuming that 3D Mario and the next Zelda finish ahead of other titles (such as games from EPD 9 and 10) partially because those two teams are working from an existing base for Switch titles in their respective franchises, and because both EPD 8 and EPD 3 have dedicated development support (1-Up for EPD 8, Monolith Soft's 2nd group for EPD 3). EPD 4 have been an annual fixture on Switch, and this year's effort from them was on the smaller scale, so I'm hoping for something bigger from them next year and have wishfully picked a spiritual successor to Wii Sports Resort as their next game.
I'm guessing EPD 8's next game is 3D Mario ahead of Donkey Kong - I think DK is real, but less of a priority, and given it seems to be the work of a new team, my guess is it takes longer to appear than Mario. I also assume Nintendo want a major Mario title out in 2022 ahead of the movie. I don't know if it's Odyssey 2 or not. My other assumption is that, given EPD 10 launched Super Mario Maker 2 in 2019 and supported it into early 2020, they will take longer than EPD 8 to ship a new Mario game. I'm also guessing that EPD 10 and EPD 8 are each working on distinct 2D titles as opposed to collaborating on one - given the need to expand internal development, I don't think Nintendo would assign two internal groups to work together like that, even if they do support one another at times. So my guess is EPD 8 are on 2D DK for 2023, and EPD 10 on 2D Mario for the same year.
Fire Emblem remains a co-developed gig between Intelligent Systems and Koei-Tecmo, for efficiency's sake. Sorry. Good-Feel port Yoshi's Woolly World because they're working on Wario Land next time out, but that's a 2023 gig. Good-Feel also launch their new eShop title in 2022, but that's not Nintendo-published. Pokemon Legends gets a Monster Hunter style trail of free quests and DLC, and a bigger paid expansion late in the year. The easy picks of Xenoblade 3 and Metroid Prime HD happen because, well, reliable people say they're happening and Xenoblade especially is due. We see Next Level Games' next title at E3 or in the September 2022 Direct, but it won't release until 2023.
EPD 9's mystery game
EPD 8's Donkey Kong game
EPD 10's 2D game
Next Level's er, next game
Good-Feel's next Nintendo game (which is Wario Land - BELIEVE)
I'm glad I went digital with SMT V, feel it would be a pain in the ass to track down a copy, and beside this monday is holiday here in México and my vacations start tuesday so I wanted to play the earliest I could. I still will get a physical copy, but I will wait enough time if it's released for PS4, otherwise a Switch copy will be fine.

Reading the Kotaku article about PS5 being bought for 3rd party games is funny. It's actually somewhat true if you ask me, it's just the headline that to worries me.
I bought a PS3 and PS4 solely for online games and playing Fifa6, NHL and NBA with my friends. I also bought exclusives because they were good games. I would reckon most casual gamers do the same. I think it's only the enthusiasts who buy a new console solely for exclusives.
I will say their metric for coming to this conclusion is flawed. Cumulative hours for a game is always going to skew toward Multiplayer or GaaS type games.

Exactly, my friends in the UK nicknamed the PS4 at our London office location, "FIFA Box" because it was just there for them to play Fifa at lunch time.
I still think Kotaku made a clickbait headline since the data they showed doesn't exactly support their claim of people bit buying exclusives. Hours played doesn't equal player base

3 out of 10 games are Sony published. It’s a complete distortion of the data even though there’s obviously some truth to the relative strength of third parties on PS.
