StarTopic Future Nintendo Hardware & Technology Speculation & Discussion |ST| (Read the staff posts before commenting!)

Can we ban Twitter for 2 months? is doing more harm than good these weeks on this thread.

I’m actually quite enjoying the oodles of popcorn here.

But seriously, all i can do is laugh at it all. There’s so much shit being flung around, we ought to think we’re trying to run a farm here.

Like... I'm trying to be polite here, but if you honestly think that this company isn't talking out of their ass for clicks... there's no hope for you. This is one of the fishiest leaks I've seen in years from a company that has no reason to work with Nintendo.
I don't blame the people on this thread or other random people reading the story. I blame places like Digital trends and IGN for picking up this story without doing any research. These articles should have been headlined with the information you've presented in this one post lol

Not sure its fair to blame people reading the article who have absolutely no idea who this company is or why it should be fake, that should be the journalist giving some information, and not just one sentence at the end of the article "take it with a grain of salt" either

The PR seems to be a clown show with Ai Shark.

I'd say that the PR is working exactly as intended. They got the media attention for their shark oil, and there's no downside to misrepresenting their (realistically nonexistent) relationship with Nintendo.

Just curious, why do some of you think a September release is more likely than a November release based on past trends? Wouldn't a release immediately before the holidays make more sense?

That's fair, but the people here (and also on Discord which, i'll be honest, were the group i was more disappointed in) taking it seriously was kinda depressing, like c'mon guys we're better than this.

For what it's worth, this is probably the first of the conga-line of leaks that we'll get over the coming months. If we thing now is bad, it's only going to get worse...

It's not even 11 days into the new year... jesus christ...

Personally, I think it makes more sense to have enough time between release and the western holiday season to have at least one chance to restock after the initial rush.

Humans do not handle information deprivation well. Regardless of whether we're talking about either figuratively or literally being in the dark, people will naturally cling to anything that can explain what's going on.

Best way to avoid that is to not think about it. Brains unfortunately aren't inherently tethered to reality and can go to fantastical conclusions if it isn't consciously stopped from doing so.

Yeah. I hope we are done with this clown show that should not have been brought up in the first place. (this is not the 2nd update, this is the THIRD update, I made sure nobody else has already posted this THIRD update)

Question for thread: Does stuff like this push Nintendo to put out information any quicker?
This will influence Nintendo in absolutely no way. Had they kept on bullshitting, they might have sent their legal team after them, but I don't think anyone in Japan who has any influence over those decisions will even know that this happened.
Going to be a long year.
BREAKING NEWS: Infamous Nintendo INSIDER Confirms 11th January 2025 Launch Date For Nintendo Switch 2.

They've expanded what internal studios can work on. NERD, "just" an R&D division, did Super Mario 3D All-Stars soup to nuts, which would normally have gone outside. They also did Pikmin 1+2, which likely wouldn't have even been viable had NERD not done it. NST developed Bowser's Fury, a real and original game which is good!
Didn't they outright set up a small dedicated porting team?
I know NERD did 3D all stars, but in the credits for pikmin 1+2 they are credited alongside the "Porting Technology Development Team" so it seems they just provided the Hagi emulator but the porting itself was done by this porting team.

It was literally yesterday that some shitco displayed a laughable "AI Mario hologram" at CES, with no relation to or permission from Nintendo, and got their 15 minutes of fame. Now somebody is doing it again today by stringing together AI + GameShark + Switch 2, when none of those have anything to do with their product, and gullible rubes on the Internet are sharing it. And now I have to endure posts from people earnestly questioning whether or not this could be real information. Fuck off.

What's this about?

We've talked about the porting team before, I think in the first party thread. Porting Technology is either a new division in NERD (there are some job listings that hint that way) or a division in the Platform Technology Group (some credits make it look that way). Either way, we've got games coming out of Nintendo that are being developed by places that you wouldn't traditionally think of as a studio.

We’ve been saying September since last year

We also have plenty to suggest earlier, it's a waiting game deep down.

I wonder how long Nintendo can keep all the next gen plans under wraps. Eventually it's all going to come out if Nintendo waits too long. But until we get the official word there is going to be a ton of false information out there. Will be quite the ride as emotions go up and down.
I wonder if and when they will reveal specs? I know they haven’t done that since the GameCube GBA era but they have a really impressive stake they’re cooking over there, why not send out some specs about how it tastes and what it’s made of?

I think that's kind of the plan on their part. Don't deny anything except in the vaguest possible terms, let enough bullshit info disseminate so that any real info looks like just another fake cashing in on the hype train. It's basically what their strategy with the NX hype was.

Mochizuki mate, where are you? You gotta come back from the ashes with some juicy info about key manufacturing partners or components 👀

3 to 9 months and fami is way ahead from everything 🙈

If we get through March with no word from Nintendo this place is going to go even more bonkers than it is already.
I think we'll be put out of misery on timing before then tbh.

I can't say it would be too surprising as someone who was hoping for a May release lmfao. A fall release has been one of the likelier options for a bit now.
