I can see them doing a digital-only model, as weird as that would be, but stripping backward compatibility out of either model makes zero sense based on what we “know” so far
 
hot new leak from me: the digital model of the switch 2 will also lack a headphone jack since it's previously been on the same board as the card slot
 
The all digital model won't lack BC, so unfortunately we know that the whole leak is bunk if that's pretty much all it was to begin with. Meaning this "leak" is likely also bunk.

However!

There's a chance that they're not ALL bunk, and that they've seen some early marketing materials, indicating two models, with one not having a Game Card slot and a disclaimer stating it's not compatible with Nintendo Switch Game Cards. That could be possible and could indicate a reveal soon.

But there isn't a world where they release two models at the same time where one lacks BC when they use the same software and the same SOC. Be serious.
 
Digital Switch with no Digital BC is just so far out I can't even imagine it lol. I can't even believe it's an actual conversation
 
Yeah baby, back on the “they’re going to fucking shove the Switch 1’s GPU is only one of the models” rumor. Easily the worst rumor I have seen in a minute.

Trying to imagine redesigning the entire system just to find a spot to shove in the fucking Switch 1 GPU because shader translation is literally impossible I guess.

No offense but based off of that first post I was expecting a bit more than potentially a story about a digital model.
At this point I don't really care about any details outside of the reveal of this thing.

Digital only with no physical back compatibility: Possible, though I would go 20/80 or 10/90 in likelihood.

Digital only with no digital BC while another model has BC: No, what is wrong with you. They’re not shoving the Switch 1’s chip in one model and not the other.

I've never held a SteamDeck, Rog Ally (sp?), etc. Any of those have metal cases?

Whenever I hear about metal cases being made for Switch 2 (like the MoneyDJ/Hongzhun, even though it's "for entertainment purposes only"), I was wondering if that's just referring to metal enclosures inside the Switch 2 body itself (not really visible to users). Not that the Switch 2 body would be metallic.

Hey could be worse. They could just ship the Switch 1 with a GPU that's soldered to unused PCIe lanes lookin' like this poor Steam Deck abomination. ☠️
