It's interesting how there seems to be more skepticism about Metroid Prime 4 showing up in the September Direct than there was about it showing up in the June Direct.
There have been so many times where it's felt like: 'Ok, this HAS to be it' and then nothing.
Especially after Metroid Prime Remastered, I was expecting it later in that same direct. When it didn't show, I just assumed June.
Now here we are at September.

For me, Prime 4 showing up in the June Direct as the big holiday game made sense. But then once a lot of the slate for H2 was lined out, it made less sense to me that it'd release this year, so showing up in September seems a bit less of a sure thing to me. Granted, it's possible that Prime 4 is a 24Q1 game, being reintroduced in the September Direct and then a blowout in February or something, but.. that just seems shakier to me than the very simple "it's the holiday game, revealed in the was-gonna-be-E3 June Direct."

Thinking about it, the Peach game could very likely introduce a brand new antagonist just for the Princess. Every time the Mario series characters get their own staring role, it typically comes with a new recurring baddie.

Super Mario Bros. - Bowser
Wario Land - Captain Syrup
DKC - K. Rool
Yoshi's Island - Kamek
Luigi's Mansion - King Boo
Captain Toad - Wingo(tho I guess they aren't really recurring so far huh)

Yes I know the first time Peach got her own game, this didn't occur, but this time around it feels like they are taking the idea of Peach having her own games more seriously. Guess we'll see.
This just got me thinking, what characters are already in the Marioverse that could be repurposed into a Peach villain (like how Magikoopas existed already and then they made Kamek), and suddenly I thought it'd be the perfect role to be filled by Wart. Leave Bowser to Mario and give Peach another royal to fight against! The more I think about it the more I love the idea!!

Wart being the antagonist of the new Peach game would be fantastic, considering Super Mario Bros. 2 was the first game she was ever playable in. It would be perfect! Now I'm going to be disappointed when it doesn't happen.

the Switch Peach game would be the second time Peach got her own game, Peach first starring role was Super Princess Peach on DS

I like this idea for not only bringing back an old classic who deserves better. But also because honestly, it would be really funny for him to have some kind of unresolved beef from SMB2 and for Peach to be like... "Sir, I don't even know who you are."

reread my last sentence there :)

I'd take pokefloats returning over a new character any day :p

Imagine pokefloats but with gen 3-9 pokemon included too lol

Yes DK is coming to theme parks next year. I still think Nintendo can easily wait until the February direct to announce it.

People thought Nintendo “had to have a Mario game right with the Mario movie”. And they sure didn’t. The Mario game is coming 6 months later. You can announce a DK game in February and release 6-7 months later.

Except this puts it right in the path of 3D Mario, which is most likely a launch title. Hard to imagine DK releasing a few months before/after Mario, even if DK is a 2D game. I think it drops no sooner than early 2025.

I don't really understand how the rumors got started so early, but I'm guessing it's getting a long dev cycle like Mario.

didnt Bowser already fit the criteria for a Peach vilian, what vilian could fit the criteria for a antagonist?

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people want FE4 simply because Engage was a bit of a dud.
As much as I love Engage, it says something that when people looked at the Reddit Engage leak, the leaker saying "Oh btw FE4 remake is real" caused heads to turn, especially when said Reddit leak was proven true.

People have been wanting an FE4 remake for a while as it was only released in Japan, has one of the darkest stories in the series (if not the darkest), and introduced mechanics that made a huge impact on the series like skills for example. It was also the only game in the series to feature the parent/child mechanic until Awakening came along. Though there are fans that are afraid they'll introduce a playable self-insert avatar in said remake.

It's very easy to imagine actually, Returns released almost exactly six months after Galaxy 2, and Tropical Freeze similarly released very shortly after 3D World. Nintendo do not care about 3D Mario hurting sales of Donkey Kong, they've done it twice before, I don't see why they'd get cold feet now.

I love this. The plot of the game could revolve around Wart trying harder and harder to get Peach to remember him and becoming increasingly pissy when she doesn't :ROFLMAO:

Bowser to Peach is a creepy stalker and is already Mario's big rival antagonist.

Peach deserves someone of her own to square off against imo. She's not just girl Mario.
THIS.

Yeah. For me I just feel like if I expect it, it's not gonna come. Such has been the case for a couple years now. So maybe if I'm not expecting it it will finally show up. Or maybe not. Either way, #TTP.

Nate said he believed the game was due to release by the end of the fiscal year. If that is still the plan, then it should have a great chance of showing. He also said in the case it got delayed internally it's possible it may slip to early next year for a reveal, which would also make sense.

I think it would be really weird to have Prime 2 and 4 in this direct but not 3 though. There are so many different ways this could go though, so I'm just going to expect nothing for now and we'll see what happens.

Tropical Freeze and 3D World were originally supposed to launch one month apart until the former was delayed until February. More recently, Nintendo released the Tropical Freeze Switch port two months after Kirby Star Allies—another 2D platformer. I see no reason why Mario and DK can't coexist.

Yeah I was thinking of TF in Feb 2014 when I said early 2025. Still, 2014 was a different situation because Wii U was flailing and Nintendo didn't have the luxury of being able to sit on software for months.

Also when I said "few months," I meant more 3 months than 6, which I consider a pretty substantial buffer.

I think there's totally room for DK and 3D Mario in the same calendar year. Esp. if the DK game is either 2d or level-based 3D (along the lines of Forgotten Land or 3D World) and Mario is more the next evolution of Odyssey or Bowser's Fury.

Put DK in late spring/early summer and then Mario around the holidays, and I think Nintendo should be able to differentiate them and make them both feel like important "event games".

DK and Mario are more closely associated now than they were in 2018, thanks to the movie. It makes more sense to space them out to keep the franchise in the minds of fans instead of firing out games and then having nothing for years.

I was reading the Direct rumor thread on Era.

Nate says he hasn't heard about F-Zero in a while. Reiterates that FE4 is just waiting to be announced like Prime Remastered was. Imran says Zippo had legit sources early on and "somehow he's just kept going for ten years which is a long ass time to pretend to know things". lol

for me it's because September Directs has always been more third-party focused with major reveals for games the American and Japanese audiences would like prime 4, does not seems to be a good fit for a direct like that

Zippo really had sources once over ten years ago and has been spewing garbage ever since, and new outlets report on this guy like he’s the gospel. Comedy gold

Yeah you can tell he has no sources now. He jumps on rumors and makes shit up

zippo having real sources at one point doesn't surprise me at all. frankly I wouldn't be surprised if he had some unreliable connections right now, but he's definitely fallen off hard as of late.

I always figured that Zippo had some legit sources but also had a bunch of bad sources and he couldn't (or wouldn't) determine which were reputable so he just posts everything.

Indeed. Glanced over stuff today, and yes...Game Rant gave Zippo attention, saying that Metroid Prime 4 was done and that a release date is to be narrowed down. Just read the headline, no clicks.

But yeah, where have I heard that before on this forum?
