Technically possible the Zelda amiibo could end up popping up first, yeah; would be a little weird for the Splatoon batch to get their date first though. Noah and Mio were definitely not coming this year from the moment they didn't have samples to show.

For what it's worth, the Japanese website pushed the Splatoon amiibo ahead on the upcoming list, but that would happen no matter what since the Zelda amiibo don't have a solid date yet; can’t be taken as definitive proof they are releasing later (though I think it’s very likely).

Zelda amiibo release date feels like a 9PM EST Nintendo Tweet in the next few days/weeks to me, prolly alongside another game release as Nintendo tends to do (RPG and Deep Cut amiibos are the same day)

Jokes from earlier aside, honestly a majority of Fami handles Paper Mario discussion well. I don’t think we need a ban or quarantine for discussion.

TTYD HD is a fairly notable rumor, but I think it and the next Paper Mario will 100% skip this show with Super Mario RPG so strongly in the spotlight this holiday as the big November game.
Paper Mario the Thousand Years Door remake/remaster if real, is gonna come out next year(maybe),Nintendo will want to focus on the Super Mario RPG remake, before anouncing in this Nintendo Direct, a remake/remaster of Paper Mario the Thousand Years Door is coming to Switch

And with this, Capcom's TGS show has been dated.

Last time, Nintendo and Sony both got their Direct and State of Play out on the same day (9/13/22), with TGS starting 9/15. Could we see a repeat happening again this year, with both airing their shows on 9/19?

If Capcom's going to show up in some form or fashion at either showcase, it'll be because they're following the pattern of letting the platform holders go first, before talking more about the games at their own TGS showcase. I still feel fairly confident that "MH6" will be at Sony's thing, but when it comes to Nintendo, as suggested above, there is a pretty wide berth of mid-range possibilities that could potentially show up, too.

And so, the clock ticks on.

Capcom is probably gonna reveal a game that everyone love and will sell milions

I voted Sept 10-16

1. Because it was Pokemon week, I like Pokemon.
2. It was my birthday week.

So yeah, it all biased.

BTW something curious about last 2 september directs (2021 and 2022) it both feature 2 next year "new" game announcements that were schedule for next year, one in first half and the other one in second half.

2021 - Kirby and the Forgotten Land (march), Bayonetta 3 (october)
2022 - FE Engage (january), Pikmin 4 (july)

Which titles can (or re?) anounced this year direct?

Patterns were broken you know, we got 2 new game announcements for next year in the June Direct.

But yeah, there's always room for new announcements. I expect Prime 4 reveal trailer and Prime 2-3 shadowdrops.

You forgot that the 2022 September direct had revealed Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe, which it is also released on the first half of 2023 just like FE engage, so I believe that Nintendo will base their 2023 September direct off of the 2022 September direct.

The first half 2024 game will be the FE4 remake.
Another first half 2024 game coming later on will be either Xenoblade Warriors or Mario Warriors
The second half 2024 game is definitely Metroid Prime 4 at the end of the direct

And of course, Nintendo will 100% reveal F-Zero GX remaster and then release it after the September 2023 direct ends.

I'm broadly bearish on a lot of common "Nintendo's saving this one for Switch 2" speculation, but I do find it surprising that people aren't putting the next Nintendo Warriors collaboration in that bucket. Hyrule Warriors on Wii U was a big graphical showcase for the system in lieu of Zelda U with a commensurate marketing push behind it. Fire Emblem Warriors got something resembling a "cross-gen" treatment with a New 3DS and Switch simultaneous release during the Switch's launch year, which was followed by the Definitive Edition of Hyrule Warriors six months later. Between the obvious improvements to those games on Switch versus their previous-gen counterparts and the year of kvetching and moaning about Age of Calamity's performance on Switch, I'm not sure why people are expecting/hoping that the followup to HW2 and FEW2 is on Switch, especially in contrast to eg a Fire Emblem remake or Metroid Prime 4

I don't consider Wii/Gamecube/3DS remasters/remakes as "new" titles.

Though a FE4 Remake as its a SFC title would be a new game.

So I think the pattern will be announcing 2 new titles for 2024; one in first half and the other in second half. There can be an exception and new Princess Peach game if their first year title.

I fully expect a new Hyrule Warriors title based on TOTK for 2025, very possible exclusive for Switch NG. Even though I wouldn't discard another Warriors collaboration like Xenoblade or KIrby. I think Koei-Tecmo (with Konami) will be a stronger supporter for Switch NG, 100% titles will be coming to next NIntendo HW.

Billbil-kun is teasing a new (?) multiplatfform zombie game that it would be coming to Switch.

He replied that is nothing related to COD.

Did World War Z ever come to the 4K twins?

We may be in the middle of Chill Week here for the Direct Speculation ST, but time is quickly marching onwards! We had at least 21 replies to Week 1’s question which was awesome. Now it’s time for Week 2’s question!

Week 2 – Directs have been having themes lately. Last year was the Farm Direct, February was the Level 5 Direct, and June was the Mario Direct. What is the theme of this next Direct and if you could choose the theme yourself what would you pick?

We are seemingly only five weeks away at most from the next Direct now if it lands before TGS which is awesome! While I’m here I do want to give another shout to THE LEGENDARY SPECULATOR CHALLENGE which is in the last 48 hours of the registration period. We have 14 challengers already which is awesome! Check out the OP for who has signed up already and if you want to join in the fun check this post here for details. The deadline to register is 11:59 PM on Friday US West Coast time.
I feel like this Direct is gonna be a weird one; weird vibes but also a lot of indie titles and third party games that are hopping on to the Switch train so late when everyone else is prepping for Switch 2.

If I got to choose the theme for a Direct, I'd want it to be the Gamecube Renaissance. I want to see a number of titles either remastered, remade, or long overdue sequels make an appearance, both from Nintendo and third parties. Like sure, I'll wax poetic over Custom Robo and Starfox Adventures, but also Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, Sonic Adventure 1/2, TimeSplitters, SSX. We've already gotten a number of releases or announcements ranging from Super Monkey Ball, Metal Gear Solid, Harvest Moon Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, but in general I want to see more from third parties and Nintendo give more recognition to the sixth generation of consoles. Let's finally see BG&E2, give Chibi Robo a new release and see it thrive when a sequel actually improves on the original and isn't a downgrade in scope and design and weird genre shift. Don't get me wrong I also want to see F-Zero GX get ported to Switch too, but I also hope that it doesn't mean a new entry won't be greenlit until it achieves sales goals in however long it takes.

Direct threads just aren't the same without @LukasManak22 and @Raccoon

Zombitch? 😂
The way I snorted and coughed into my water bottle, goddamn 😂
What we need is a remake of the Hunters Mulitplayer as a standalone release. Gimme that sweet sweet arena shooter goodness.
Finally, someone who's talking sense. I'd jump on that in a heartbeat (and also maybe finally Nintendo will have a multiplayer focused first person shooter if Halo isn't going to happen)

Its not because it was a shadowdrop. People just aren't interested in the game.
People weren't interested in Prime 1 HD? Remakes/remasters of prime have been often discussed dream games since the Switch came out.

Prime 1 HD still sold fairly well. The shadowdrop just hampered the sales

is almost garantee theres will be a Hyrule Warriors, this time focusing on Tears of the Kingdom

Neither of these seem unreasonable on their own, but I wouldn't expect both in 2024 and 2025. Omega Force has other fish to fry, and outside of the HW1 ports, Nintendo has been going 2-3 years between licensed musous.

I think next week or maybe 2 we’ll hear some hints for this direct from insiders.
If the Direct is 9/13 or 9/14, which seems to be the popular opinion, then I see Nate's "soon" teases coming through at the very end of the month, like Thursday, 8/31. Almost there!

I feel like a Xenoblade Warriors "Everybody is Here!" style game makes a tremendous amount of sense, but I'd guess a third Hyrule Warriors is a higher priority and is absolutely one of the games coming in the impending open world Zelda Interregnum.

If XC3 is 2026 and BotW3 is 2029, I would think the play to do both is to have XenoWarriors in 24/25 followed by HW3 in 27. Zelda is probably going to have a longer gap between major releases as well as more options for remasters/spinoffs/etc to stay relevant

I'll take any Hyrule Warriors I can get, but I'd love a sequel to the first one that show cases less games/setting/timelines but with more specific games to the details, instead of the generic one size fits all Hyrule we got in the first one

I just want Nintendo to flat out say a Sora amiibo is never happening. It would suck of course, but not having closure on that is egregious to me

I loved Age of Calamity. Fire Emblem Three Hopes I stopped playing. The gameplay just isn’t as fun as Age of Calamity’s. Give me a Warriors game on Tears of the Kingdom now.

There's a lot of stuff in Tears of the Kingdom backstory that aren't elaborated on in great detail that could be fleshed out for DLC or a Hyrule Warriors game. Stuff like

-Zelda's training with time magic
-The names and faces of the other sages
-Koume and Kotake
-The actual Imprisoning War itself
-Why the final battle was underground at that specific location. We know Hyrule Castle was eventually build on top of it to guard the site
-Where are the Shiekah? Is there a past Impa that protected Sonia and Rauru?

How would that Hyrule Warriors game work? Would they send Link back in time for that game?
There's a couple of things I can imagine.

Since AoC already takes place in an alternate timeline, there's likely nothing stopping them from having Terrako and/or Zelda just use their time powers, and go all "WE GOTTA GO BACK FURTHER TO STOP THE CALAMITY AT ITS SOURCE". However, Ganondorf, still sealed under Hyrule Castle, has the same idea. And maybe there's enough left of the original Terrako from that timeline, that got corrupted by the Calamity, in order to aid his past self.

I think this will be an RPG Direct. More broadly a Japanese-game Direct, since that’s usually the case for the September show, but I think RPGs will be most heavily featured. Mario RPG will be there, some Square Enix stuff, and maybe more Atlus too.

(I would absolutely love a metroidvania direct too, so that’s my second pick!)

Despite the Switch nearing the end of its life cycle, there are still a few potential announcements that would make switchum lose his mind.

-Paper Mario TTYD remake/remaster
-Fire Emblem 4 Remake
-Tomodachi Life sequel
-Zelda TotK DLC

I can’t think of anything else right now, but there’s definitely more. And that’s on top of stuff I’m already excited for, like Wonder and SMRPG.

The Switch has helped me get into new franchises I’ve never really enjoyed, like Fire Emblem and Pikmin, so I’m hyped for more franchises than ever.

I wouldn't mind a ToTK themed Musou but I think I'd prefer another Nintendo franchise to go first. Having the Nintendo themed Musous just rotate between Zelda/Non-Zelda is kinda boring.

(Though if/when a ToTK Musou does happen I hope they go back to having seperate menus for missions/training/upgrades again. Having everything on the map made AoC feel like an overwhelming chore near the end.)

one final Mario Party on Switch would be awesome

What I mean is that majority of switch owners are not interested in it and no amount of marketing would remedy this.

I’m going to be completely honest, I would not care about a TotK Warriors game. I’ve realized that I’m not a huge fan of the Warriors gameplay and that they aren’t really games I’d ever want to play again. I tried the original Hyrule Warriors as well as FEW: Three Hopes, but it’s really not for me.

I remember enjoying AoC, but I’m not excited by the thought of another. I wasn’t a huge fan of the story in AoC and how it delved into a different timeline; it just kinda confused me and I don’t really remember much from my playthrough back in 2020. It just felt to me like “extra ideas thrown on top of the BotW lore” and I’m not thrilled by that. I remember Terrako and certain details of the story, but ultimately, I’d much rather just stick to the canon story when I think about Zelda and keep things simple.

I’m not sure how popular this opinion is, but my #1 element of BotW and TotK are the gameplay and exploration, by far. I don’t really care all that much about the story; in fact, I kind of felt TotK’s story and Zonai theming were forced, but that’s for another post lol. Adding on more random ideas into an “alternate timeline” would probably just make me less interested.

No disrespect to anyone who enjoys the Warriors games… they’re just not for me, I guess.
