One thing I am looking forward to is discussing where they can take the series next in a few weeks or months. There's already stuff in trailer #3 that feels like it could be expanded upon but I don't know how it's used in the game yet.
 
I’ll probably head in whatever general direction the game hints at because I’m curious about seeing the story and characters get set up. I’ll be stopping at whatever I see from the more main path so I’ll get sidetracked of course.

I agree! I would love if this open-air style became a trilogy. Mostly bc the next game would be on the next Switch and would receive a generational boost in power over the first 2 games. Would be an amazing way to close out the trilogy with them going all-out with much higher specs
 
Did anybody else read the piece in the Times about TotK? Here. It definitely feels like a bit of a sea change in the coverage of video games by the gray lady. The level of nerdiness is unprecedented, though you can definitely quibble with some of the details. I don't know. Might just be me.

What do you guys think? Is Nintendo going to do an Expansion Pass for this game or do you think they will move onto next gen development right away instead? I thought an expansion pass was a no brainer but with the game basically out in a few days, there seems to be no real evidence to support that an expansion pass is going to happen.

Mind you, I don't think the game needs one as it seems to already be massive in scope as is but it's also kind of cool to be able to have more content to look forward to in the months to come.

So what do you guys think? Will there be an expansion pass or do you think Nintendo will release a few game patches and just move onto next gen development instead?

Not sure honestly, but leaning towards yes. Thinking it'll follow the typical Nintendo DLC pattern of recent years with 1-2 smaller in game updates followed by a somewhat standalone campaign

I'm gonna say yes, but I think the DLC won't be an expansion pass, it'll just be a singular story expansion instead. It would be super easy to create another sky island somewhere and base a story around that.

I was trying really hard not to think about that part of it but yeah unfortunately. I work three days on four days off so the good news is that this next Sunday night I'll get home with 4 days to play . The bad news is my three shifts are 12 hours, 12 hours, and 16 hours. I could try to say that I won't get to play until then but nah; just means Friday I'll be a little tired at work. Nothing is going to stop me from counting down the last few moments til it unlocks and getting some serious time in before I go to bed 😁

I think that it might be just above or below so that’s a good number. We did see some indications of a boost in sales for BotW again. I don’t see how TorK doesn’t beat that number within a year or less too. I’m still holding firm on a MC score of 98 out of the gates and an eventual 97 when all is said and done.

I think everything is still on the table including underwater exploration which is my biggest one and for a lot people some form of playable Zelda but who knows at this point.
I’m just so happy it’s coming this week, don’t know how much longer I could hold out otherwise, I can barely hold a thought in my brain longer than 2 seconds that isn’t thinking about Thursday at midnight.

You'll be up and playing in no time. And on top of it, you'll benefit from those 4 days off to catch up on all of us.

I’m starting to have trouble sleeping. Woke up at 1AM, 3AM, 5AM… The impatience has truly reached fever pitch.
 
Argh I've just realised it's Eurovision on Saturday night. Me and my wife always watch it together and apparently it would be 'rude' if I just sat there on my Switch instead!
 
Isn't it amazing that even after 37 years every time a new Zelda comes out feels like a monumental event? I don't think any other entertainment media franchise has this effect.

This is the flippin' week everyone - I cant stress how happy I am.


Talked to a friend who's on the brink to beat BotW for the first time and he just told me he only found 6 korok seeds in total and I am baffled.
How does one only find 6? And for a first timer having that small of an inventory and be close to beat it is crazy to me haha

I had the same thing happen to me as your friend.

Since BotW was marketed as "you can go anywhere, no need to follow the story" I didn't take the usual path to Kakariko Village and missed Hestu early on.
So I beat the game with a small inventory and asked myself the whole time what I missed to upgrade it...
Also, the first korok I found was the one on top of the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab...

Once Tears is out, I can officially be 900% more obnoxious in my demands for new 2D Zelda! Huzzah!

Guess who's willpower was utterly defeated over the weekend, and who went to get the Vouchers for the first time and used one for TotK digitally?

(Ok, to be fair, i had a 50€ gift card that my friends got me for birthday last year, so it technically was half-off for me.)

No idea, it's not me! just yet - however, the flesh is weak
 
Maybe on thursday I will go to the store where I preordered right before closing time, fall on my knees and beg them to hand out my copy of TotK, stating that the game already leaked anyway.
Maybe they will see a grown man cry over a videogame, if they don't give it to me.
Just maybe.
 
I got the game digitally so I'll be able to play it at midnight but all my friends are getting the physical edition, I don't know if I have the willpower to wait for them 😭

I am still thinking about what I am going to do come Friday.

At my old job I could ask for six off-days per year without any justification, which I of course mostly used to play huge games on release day. But at my current job I got no such benefit.

I am currently sitting at "leaving Teams open in case I am needed for some urgency, but playing TotK all day otherwise".
