You never know, Reggie might even be lurking in this thread, on board the spoiler-free train and he's just as mad as us about it all.

For the people who are watching the spoiler thread: does the game look good? Do we have new interesting areas or is it too reutilized material? Does the game look cool to play?

There is a Q&A thread for this.

Impressions are extremely positive from the broader answers I have peaked at. But that thread feels like playing minesweeper, so I have only opened a few.

Makes me feel like I'm trying to defuse a bomb and trying to decide if I want to cut the blue or the red wire.

And Cadence of Hyrule is done. It's the first time I finish a game on free trial, feels good lol

I'll go back to Advance Wars now until the day of the King's revival.

uhhhh about that kotaku article

If this what I think it's implying, the guy who wrote it miiiiiight just be a massive racist and should be fired ASAP

edit: Turns out it's not the same guy who wrote the article, still disgusting either way

some people on twitter really think they are goddamn V for Vendetta by pirating this game huh?
The "anti-Nintendo" mindset of Twitter is absurd tbh. Nintendo isn't perfect but the people on Twitter act like they're literally evil overlords in need of being vanquished.

The Kotaku situation is pretty messy and I'm not sure this is the right thread to discuss it but it comes off as a bit petty from Nintendo to blacklist them for the Metroid Dread article that was quickly edited to remove the implicit (but perhaps unintentional) endorsement of piracy. But this is the sad reality of access journalism which so much of gaming journalism relies on.
I disagree, Kotaku deserved the blacklist. They know what they posted, you don't post that accidentally. I 100% support the blacklist, there are limits in freedom of speech and Kotaku and its employees and what they stand for is openly out there now.

I can’t get out much or exercise currently due to recovering from a surgery, and it’s taking a toll on my mental health.

A night spent cleaning up koroks and unfinished shrines in botw is exactly what the doctor ordered. Still and escape like no other.

Regardless of how you feel about Kotaku, someone encouraging others to pirate a game does not cross a line for freedom of speech holy shit lol

some positive news:

Reggie took down a leaker

That part I am refering to the "Nazi" post by the Kotaku employee. That guy was refering to Nintendo as 1945 Japan and all that implies.

That is going to far and abusing freedom of speech.

Finally 100%ed botw! Wish it was next week, but I will do my best to look at other things to keep my mind off the wait. I can't wait for May 12th!!!

A few days ago I decided to watch a Let’s Play of BotW by someone who has never played a game in the series before (or so they claim at least). Reliving those first moments of the game vicariously has made the wait for TotK a little more bearable. Every time the streamer tries to do something “crazy” that ends up working and making them go “wow!” just puts a smile on my face.

In my dream, I saw a vast field covered in snow.

I was running from something: from what, I did not know.

Several toys were in my backpack, for reasons I had yet to discover.

There was someone waiting for me at the end of the tunnel: A young girl, dressed in pale green, wanting to pass forth a message to me.

I looked around: the night was young, serene even.

There were people not far away from where I stood, laughing as though their life was all but stripped of joy.

I inched closer, intent on receiving the message I had so long yearned for.

The girl looked upon me, her eyes shining like rough diamonds, reflected in the puddle of mud below her.

As she opened her mouth, finally letting the message spring forth.

She screamed EIGHT DAYS LEFT!

And so, I rose awake.

8 days.

STILL 8 DAYS.

How is the metascore looking, will it beat Elden ring to become the highest reviewed game this decade?

Well, i guess it's going to depend on how reviewers will decide about what things factor most for their score.

Going by impression from those who saw the leaks (i personally haven't seen a single leaked thing), it feels like the game might be blowing BotW out of it's socks.
So going by that logic, some might expect it to at least match BotW's metascore.

On the other hand, this game is so big, and so anticipated, that some might feel that they have to nitpick every single "bad" (or rather less good) thing. And let's be totally honest, TotK will have such things (simply going by logic).

After consulting my stomach, we're both pretty certain it will definitely hit 95, with a good chance of going higher.

Better than yesterday when we had to wait 9 days!

I can't wrap my head around the whole playing a leaked pirated copy mentality.

You literally get a worse experience, if anything, because you miss possible day 1 patches that iron the performance. Sure, you may be able to bruteforce it with a powerful enough PC and emulation, but that comes with its own set of issues.

And the stick it to Nintendo angle is just dumb.

I can’t remember if it was Nintendo that released it before for BOTW but I remember watching a video of a time lapse of Hyrule in game, you got to see the different weather effects as they rolled in, shooting stars falling to the ground…..I wouldn’t mind another video like that but for TOTK before launch.

I remember when people said that, after the 2022 trailer, “yeah, we know the title now, but we’ve yet to see the main hook”.
2 trailers and previews later, it really does seem like the vehicle building is in fact the “hook”.

But maybe I’m just over the moon hyped, but I think that there’s so much more bombshell revelations that are still being kept close to the chest. Truly massive stuff.

Think of BotW. Going in to it, we knew of the sheikah shrines and towers, that you could go to Ganon straight away. Basic stuff. But the dragons, lord of the mountain, the pre-beast challenges, the labyrinths, all of these incredible discoveries were kept completely under wraps.

This game will most likely have a ton of things just waiting to be discovered.

I have been thinking recently about, (yeah, I know), time travel. The comment about one of the previews I read referenced where the game hinted at “the Sky Kingdom was once a huge city” or something. What if we can time travel back to said city, where all the sky islands are connected? It would line up with the theory that Zelda was sent into the past as well.

Man this wait and anticipation is ridiculous. I feel like I have harder time waiting and not being totally consumed by thinking about the game than my 3-year old before Christmas.

In a way it’s nice to feel like a kid again I guess. It’s not just the experience of playing Nintendos main series games that evokes feelings of being a kid, even the anticipation does.

Getting older I sometimes feel like it’s becoming rarer for me to feel this giddy in anticipation and expectation for things. So I’m really savouring this feeling right now.

I waited too long to get the deluxe edition and now I can’t find it for regular price anywhere. 24 hours ago it was available on Amazon. I should’ve scooped it then but thought I should wait till payday. Timing has forsaken me again! Why?!😭
