Pre-Release The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Pre-Release Discussion Thread

We'd learn about the game leaking by seeing brand new footage. If there are "reports" but the only thing we're seeing is the Switch icon (conveniently the easiest thing to fake), then it hasn't leaked.

Pokémon go through this everytime. There's always a "scare" way too early based on nothing. It always leaks much closer to launch.

Anyway sooner or later it will happen

If it's not today is next week I believe

Yep, I think we will be pretty fortunate if we get to the 28th without the game leaking out.

If the game does leak next week then we will have to fire a proton torpedo into Fami's main reactor.

A lot of us like to hear if it looks good from a leak without getting spoiled on the leak ourselves, I wish Aonuma/Miyamoto would cut out the middle man and tell us if it's a good game from what they played

I am very hyped for the game, but was wondering about the overworld lately and how there arent too many changes? Dont know how hyped I am just for the overworld, but I think the sky and underground are the focus for new exploration and should be really exciting. With the overworld as a way to get between them making exploration fresh again, also with a fair amount of changes as well.

I think for overworld exploration certain areas(like the desert which looks really different) will be focused on rather than others. Also the 4 divine beast regions look to have pretty dramatic changes! Still though day one I will be going across the whole map seeing what has changed and if possibly underused areas now have new content. Also the game is only set maybe 5 years after BOTW so I dont expect huge changes I guess. But sky and underground + overworld should be a lot to explore.

Also they are for sure hiding stuff they of course dont want to give away the entire world!

Yes. There are accounts whose primary currency is drumming up scares over leaks for interactions.

I wonder how much places like the Tingle Islands and (the aforementioned) Lanayru Promenade will have changed, will they be interesting to explore in and of themselves? Or mainly just fun as a slightly changed platform to get to the sky and underground above/below?

I’m thinking every area has had some sort of make over. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Devs took all the Hero’s quest info they gained from BotW players on where they went as well as the most discussed topics on locations over the past 6 years and really updated those locations a lot.
They might have gone one of two routes on the less traveled areas and either tried to make the game naturally try and funnel you towards those areas like they did with Zoras’ domain and the base story or they might make a huge change to one of these areas, which it looks like they have done with a lot of the open desert.
Thinking back I never spent a ton of time in the areas around the Labyrinths as I was making my way towards them and also in a lot of the snow covered mountains, I’m hoping a lot of the snow is melted on some of these mountains uncovering different terrain as well.

Depends I think some areas will be changed more than others. I expect maybe smaller changes in those areas maybe new enemies and puzzles. And cave entrances hopefully, could be one in the promenade. Not sure yet as most shots have been for the central hyrule regions

I made this post:

I think it makes sense, that's why I would like to share it.

It could also be possible to go underground but I think that the eggs with green circles are used for that. Because I've seen an art picture with same shape undergrounds with a door. I'm referring to this:

It's still my own theory about the towers, I could be wrong

Why, though? Unless you're very near an island, it would be excruciatingly slow to glide to an island, and you already have an ability for near the start that teleports you to an island if you are below it.

We've seen the inside with the elevators down, mostly likely. They are recent Sheikah constructions in both look and writing.

Zelda just copying Mario 64 now.

I mean before the embargo lifts Nintendo will be on the lookout for leaks anyway so any images would be removed. I do think the most likely scenario is when we get a datamined leak like with Botw a few days before release with the names of the locations, weapons, etc etc.

Love this shot

I think it's ridiculously cool that this Zelda has the power to wield the master sword. She should be dead by now, but she has held the master sword 2 times now. I think she is the only other person to ever successfully hold the sword.

Less than 500 hours until TotK
Thanks for this, feels closer for some reason now that we can count hours and have them makes sense time wise. When we get to under 100 hrs I’m going to be needing an hour by hour update reminder so I hope you don’t plan on sleeping😊

So am I interpreting it right that reviewers haven't received their codes yet?
Huh.

I can understand them being very selective in order to minimise leaks, but wouldn't forcing reviewers to rush through a game this massive negatively impact the scores?

It's unfortunately not uncommon in the industry so it probably won't have too much of a negative impact

Pretty disappointed in them though, it's a pretty unhealthy practice and Nintendo is typically a bit better about it than this

Yeah, XC3 was in reviewer's hands one month before release. They are really paranoid about early leaks.

So previews could have still happened already at a select event and outlets are waiting for the embargo to drop, but it definitely sounds like review codes will only be distributed a week or two before release.

A good 3 hour drive to Nintendo NY... On first thought, I'd pass. But on second thought, it isn't often that such a big Zelda game comes out...

Plus, I haven't been to NYC in so many years. I hope I'll even be able to load the page when registration opens.

I don’t know, I sure hope that Nintendo rewards the big 3 of Zeltik, NBC and MM for not discussing the Art book leaks on their channels, the three of them have been suspiciously quiet overall since the last trailer analysis they all did and have proven they can be trusted if Nintendo wanted to do something nice for once for YouTubers.
