I was wondering about that when I saw the autosavev thing.
I suspect they did this on purpose, knowing that people like me are going to be less inclined to take the challenge on knowing the sheer length of it..

To be honest though, I am disappointed they're not making any more of the regular challenges. Especially ones that really test late game builds. It's actually really satisfying to dig into the class system and build really powerful party comps, but to have no appropriate challenge to put them against.

Yea, I feel the same. The gauntlet is a cool new and unique mode, but for the actual normal challenges, xb2's challenge mode still blows this out of the water. The randomness of Blades and the preciousness of overdrive protocols always put me off from experimenting too much, but now that those things aren't a problem, the challenge mode is watered down. I was also missing some of the more creative or different-feeling challenges like the one with all the nopon or the one where you play as Jin on the battleship.

2's DLC just seems to offer a little more. We also had 3 past characters added as blades as rewards for Challenge Mode on top of the three regular DLC blades compared to 3's two heroes. Then got another new 7 blades in new game plus, and T-ELOS as a bonus for a total of 14 additional blades. I know the usual response to this is that 3's base game was more complete than 2 so it needed less, but even when I take that into account, 2 still feels like it offers more for both challenge mode and new game plus regardless of what was base game vs. dlc.
 
Yeah 3's Expansion Pass has been pretty disappointing compared to 2 overall. It feels like 2 added more things in their free updates than 3 added in their paid ones. Granted, 3 launched with some features like NG+ that had to be patched into 2.

Not that I expected 3's pass to be quite as good as 2's, but it's still disappointing because there is some great potential in 3 that doesn't seem to be realized.
 
I think it's probably a bit unreasonable to expect anything to live up to how much stuff 2's added

the most important thing will be nailing the expansion anyways which still remains to be seen but if it's as good as Torna will easily be worth 30 bucks by itself
 
XC2 had far superior challenges, more fan favourite additions and cooler NG+ features

I mean, bloody hell, they added the vision and overdrive mechanics from XC and X (albeit stripped back). Eye of Shining Justice anyone? Heart to hearts with the Torna crew?

And when you look at some of the characters datamined in XC3 who may still yet become a hero, I can’t help but shake my head and sigh.

We had Rex, Shulk, Elma, Pyra, Mythra, Fiora, T-ELOS and KOS-MOS in the last game… now we’re hoping for fucking Joran… what happened?


Wave 4 makes or breaks the entire DLC package for me. Even without Torna, XC2’s season pass was still a really good time and felt worth it. I don’t think XC3’s DLC stacks up at all so far.
 
Generally agree with the DLC discussion so far, lack of an M costume for mio is incredibly jarring given she wears it in the actual game like the cloak pyra wears in chapter 2 which they released as a costume. Wave 4 seems heftier than torna though and will add more to the story instead of just being a reiteration of what was already told through the main story.
 
Challenge gauntlet is so good, been stuck on 140 for the past few hours trying to beat the final boss on hard mode.

I’ll judge the passes once they’re full release. Mostly interested in the expansion area and story.

XB2 biggest issue for me was how busted the game was at launch for me. It crashed multiple times on me and I had to put the game down for 6 months. Which ironically was the right amount of time as I was getting nice updates and torna around the corner. But I can’t praise it too much since Day 1 Xenoblade 2 to me, was a bad time. A very bad time.

And I like XB 2 more the XB3.

Also locking hard mode and adjustable difficulty setting in the season pass is garbage. I hope XB3 doesn’t do that latter part. But I can see them do it again

they did put new battle barks in the updates, didn't they?

The CD includes music from Wave 4 (product description), and the CD releases July 29th, meaning that the dlc is coming before the end of July?!

OMG. I was expecting like August or September!

Maybe we will see it in June for release/reveal, maybe early-mid July?

There's a solid chance for sure. I'm expecting a presentation in June between ToTK and Pikmin 4 to announce things for the rest of the year. Btw Pikmin 4 releases July 21, and I don't think they'll drop a big Xenoblade expansion that same week. So unless they announce it for July 28 which would put it 1 day before the cd release (quite close if you ask me, but I'm not familiar with those kind of things), there's a solid chance it releases in the first half of July at latest. That would be pretty rapid from full announcement in June to release in early July given that thus far we've only had a small teaser.

I'm curious to see how things will pan out
 
Where does one order the soundtrack of Xeno 3 only? I already own the complete soundtracks of the first 2 games, so I don't need the trinity box.

XC2 released in December and story DLC for that released in September (9 months later).

If anything they are actually "late" this time.

EDIT: had the game released in its original release date, September, then a June release would have been exactly 9 months after the base game. I suspect it is coming in June.

I'll pass on this, my physical edition of the XC2 soundtrack is enough. Cool to get some kind of cut off point for the DLC though.

FYI the Trinity Box features the only physical release of the Torna soundtrack, so once the preorders for this are closed it's gonna be digital only again.

I wish the Trinity edition is shaped in the actual Trinity Processor shape with each soundtrack being inside a Core Crystal 😍😍😍
 
well, preordered the special edition for XC3 I can’t wait to receive the flutes already! So happy that this means probably we’ll get the last DLC soon.

Also preorder the trinity one too even having XC1 and XC2 ones because I want the DE versions, Torna and Future Connected on physical…. My poor wallet -_-

Never thought that we'd get a full trilogy set, so that's a nice surprise to get DE, Torna and Wave 4 DLC as well. I only own the regular soundtrack of 2, so trinity set it is! 🤭
