If it is a mini it will definitely have quite some third party games. Otherwise it‘d be pointless to air it before TGS.

if you had told me in february that we had just gotten our last direct of the year I'd think we were getting covid 2

This is what being a Nintendo fan is like. This isn’t new. It’s always a rollercoaster ride with Nintendo.
It's funny cause Nintendo did nothing in the last few months other than release a couple games and normal marketing (Xebo3, Splat3). That hype cycle and those stuff isn't Nintnendo. It's forums, insiders and rumours. Nothing to do with them in reality. So those hype cycles and anxiety it's all about fans.

If this results in us getting a Partner and a Mini for E3 and the Sept Direct respectively, that bummer will be significant enough that my ambivalence towards the next system will turn into frustration and anticipation if only so we can ease up on its invisible chokehold.

I know, but it was said dozens times that insiders don't the the brand of Directs.
Yes, that’s true that they don’t know. It’s the time though which helps pinpoint a direct a lot more. She said it’s happening in the morning in the US and not afternoon, which leads to a higher possibility of it being a Mini.

Maybe it’s Mini because there is not so much third party games left to announce. Or maybe it’s Partner because… Nintendo…

Alright new speculation, what if they do a Zelda direct on the week of TGA just because they want to.

That must be some might delicate body hair. No joke, the neighbor a few houses down has a cotton candy machine, so we can arrange this to happen.

You know 2022 has been somewhat disappointing in terms of videogames. Well, if you don’t have a Switch I mean. So many games got delayed into 2023, PS5 and Xbox Series are pretty bland in terms of releases and you can see third parties struggle with a lot of things.

Luckily the Switch keeps on trucking.

Oh, and the time time slot is good for Japan as well. Basically it was always Japan morning and now it will be Japan at night, like 1 in the morning. Good way to have it hours ahead especially when it's so close to TGS. Weird that no one pointed this out.

Kinda speculate, mostly hope, new OS update for Switch. Themes beyond black and white even if they are static images and still no background music, but I also hope we get some streaming apps because ffs we have OLED screen consoles now at this point and if I want to watch Netflix in bed my Switch is bigger than my phone.

Also, we gonna start a fight? Most if not all Gamecube games are better than their N64 counterparts and as a result have aged more gracefully. Zelda, Mario, Kart, Parties, Tennis, Golf, Starfox, Kirby, F-Zero, Custom Robo, Animal Crossing, Smash, Paper Mario.

I believe this unironically, which is also why I'm so sick of Nintendo dragging their feet on Gamecube ports/remasters/remakes/emulation when this should have been standard with the Virtual Console on Wii U. Blinded by nostalgia goes both ways.

I will not be responding to inquiries.

Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Pokemon...

Switch is Nintendo's best RPG system since SNES.
It beats the SNES at this point IMO. Though why Chrono Trigger still isn't on the system escapes the heck out of me... Hopefully Square Enix realizes this error quickly and also puts FF7 Ever Crisis on the platform, don't just leave it on Mobile.

Directs are so big that they will now br announced 24+ hours before airing, usually it was 32/33 hours. They also tend to do 2 day notice in 2017/18 but they are not using that for quite a while with Generals.

I think I’m at 70% it’s a Mini, 30% it’s a general. Patterns can be broken at any time and there is potential Nintendo still wanted to give TGS partners room to talk about their games following the Direct. Having it 8 hours earlier than expected gives partners a little extra room before TGS.

In this scenario, Splatoon’s delay was responsible since they wanted Splatoon marketing to be undistracted.

They’re probably doing a Chrono Trigger HD-2D remake.

I'm 50/50 on if it's a General or a Mini. The odd time might be because of TGS. I guess we'll find out in six hours.

We got the peak of mini dooming out of our system, now it’s time to refocus on reaching page 700.
Ah but Mini dooming might be the most efficient way to hit 700

Also if it is a Mini and we don't get an announcement then it becomes even easier

It's fine that everyone seems to temper their expectations but am still 100% think it's a General.
Like you 100% believed that the direct will be on september 1st 😜

Personally I‘m not sure, but I think that it will at least be no partner. Though if it is a mini, I‘d say we‘ll see a Zelda trailer as late as the TGA and a Zelda direct/direct with Zelda early next year.

I think Jeff was the only insider basically 100% on any game being in the direct and that was WWHD/TPHD. Those can easily show up in a Mini or General. Not enough to use either way.
