I am blessed with the rest of the year. No matter the outcome of the next direct.

Splatoon 3 in September
Bayonetta 3 in October
Pokemon S/V in November
Metroid Prime potentially in December

I wouldn't say no to some juicy BotW 2 footage tho.

All I need this upcoming Direct is Prime Reprimed.

Bayonetta 3 is releasing soon, so I don't need a new trailer on that. BotW2 I will get anyway, all I need to know is the release date and maybe the title. Fire Emblem would be nice to see, but it might be too soon for that.

Just the tiniest glimpse of Prime 4 would be great, though I don't expect it.

Pure speculation of mine, but i think it's either MP1 Remakester or Gust Emblem launching in 2022. The other will move into early (Jan/Feb) 2023 then.

Gust Emblem had that big leak, which apparently was from an old build but it looked rather finished already.
Prime Remakester has more talk of appearing soon right now.

I was thinking late spring/early summer 2023 for FE anyway, which is why I could see them holding off on showing it until February.

I think the initial rumors by Emily/Nate were that both FE projects, the Gust new one and the Holy War remake, were pretty advanced with one being a bit further in progress than the other and that this one (at least) was planned for 2022 while the other was 2023.

If that still is the general plan and Gust Emblem being the "finished" one moving into 2022, i definitely could see it being early and the Holy War remake around holiday 2023 timeframe.

Pokémon looks better with every showing and has had very little so far to push me away but aside from the co-op there's also not much to really draw me in. My girlfriend wants to play it together but I need to see some extended gameplay (both single player and co-op preferably) before I fully commit to it. Show me some unedited moment to moment gameplay, the overall structure and "flow" etc. Those are usually the things that bother me the most about Pokémon games and I still don't know how SV fare in this regard.

Man i think you have to wait for previews ... and the next question is Gamefreak allowing previews of the multiplayer features ...

I am usually in the same position as you when it comes to Pokemon.

But my wife really loves the franchise and with deeper co-op integration I really can't wait to hang out in the open world with her.

I’m back-and-forth between 3 structures.

1:
Opener: Prime HD
Blowout: BotW2
Closer: Prime 4 tease

2.
Opener: Prime HD
Blowout: BotW2
Closer: New FE

3.
Opener: Some kind of Mario
Blowout: BotW2
Closer: Prime HD and Prime 4 tease

Either way, BotW2 is going to be the big focus game, and the one mentioned in the tweet. And I think the Zelda ports are sizzle reel material.

I get the feeling that if the Direct has a meaty Zelda part (TP HD / WW HD / BotW 2 more than just 10 seconds), then MP4 won't be in it outside of a small "development is progressing smoothly, too early to show" statement by the presenter before the MP 1 Remakester trailer.

40 minutes direct huh. I hope at least 25 of them are dedicated to the fighters in the new Smash Bros.

I feel like FE won't be the closer here. Last 2 directs had Xeno 3 and Bayo 3 as closers. I'd like to see something a bit less weeb this time for the sake of variety, like DK, new Mario or BotW2

Here's a question: if Zelda WW and TP aren't bundled, and are sold separately, would you still buy them if you were planning on buying the double pack? Personally, I sure as hell wouldn't lol.
I would buy Wind Waker first because I think it is the better game.

Twilight Princess would be bought some time after BotW 2.

The first game absorbed me for for a year straight and I don't think it will be different with the sequel.

I don’t see Fire Emblem as the closer. To me it’s either BotW 2 or a new Mario game.

I’m not sure if Nintendo will have BotW 2, TPHD/WWHD, Metroid Prime Remaster, new Fire Emblem, new Mario/DK game all in one direct. It seems like too many “big” game announcements for Nintendo in one presentation. I think Fire Emblem and Mario/DK is a one or the other situation.

But let’s look at all the first party announcements in the February 2022 direct.

-Fire Emblem Three Hopes
-Switch Sports
-Mario Strikers BL
-Xenoblade Chronicles 3
-Earthbound on NSO
-Mario Kart 8 dlc

So they did have a pretty good amount of stuff in that direct. 4 of them are brand new games. Maybe Nintendo will do Fire Emblem and Mario/DK, Metroid Prime, BotW 2, GB/GBC/GBA in the same direct.

Perhaps SMRPG could show up alongside the GB/GBA NSO blowout

My general expectations for a September Direct is that it would cover everything until the end of the FY (so the next 6 months) with the final game being a preview of something further out to keep people excited.

Knowing that I think 4 is a pretty safe number for new announcements of 1st party games. Something like 1 remaining Q4 game, plus 2 games in Q1, and a further out 2023 game would make sense, though those numbers could be lower or higher. News on NSO and DLC could also be expected here and beyond that some key 3rd party announcements which would round out a Direct nicely.

I think the main thing to consider when predicting this Direct in regards to new game announcements is that so much of the Nintendo line up we know about is coming out soon and 2023 is pretty barren. If Breath of the Wild 2 in particular isn't making it in March, that leaves the first three months of the year unaccounted for and again aside from Zelda we don't have any farther out games except Metroid Prime 4 which all we know about it is that it exists.

Realistically then we need some early 2023, perhaps two or three, and then at least another big hitter for 2023 which could just be the Metroid Prime 4 reveal. Now there will be DLC in this period as well, but I don't think like say Mario Kart DLC Wave 4 covers March or whatever. There will be new and/or remastered games leading the charge.

I think that's where Mario/DK , Metroid, Zelda, and Fire Emblem all fit in to cover this. Mario/DK and Fire Emblem are early 2023 while Zelda and Metroid are farther in 2023.

BotW2 gameplay, title reveal, and release date will end the direct, not even sure why that's a question. Any direct BotW2 shows up in between now and the games release it will end the show.

Yeah I'm starting to really feel BotW2 stuff. It just makes too much sense. It's coming within 6-9 months, we still know nothing, it's Ninty's most anticipated game - it's time.

yes i'm priming myself for disappointment once again but this time they really really have to show it alrite?!1

I’m feeling giddy for this upcoming general direct. Getting close to party time.

If they fuckup BotW 2 release any further, i am going to print out the Super Soaker gif, every frame one sheet of paper, pack it into an envelope and send it to Aonuma.

He might not understand, but i know. I. know.

Tbh I hope they don't show BotW2 again unless they have a firm release date to share.

Feels like it’s time for a NSO update.

Wonder what game will appear now.

Unless everyone is thinking it’s saved for a direct. But I don’t think so personally
NSO games I thought release/announce towards the end of the month. It’s only the 8th 😄

If they’re saving anything for the Direct it’ll be the next system added to the program

opener: BOTW 2 > WWHD/TPHD
early mid-direct: gust FE
late mid-direct: GB/C + GBA NSO
closer: MP1R > MP4

i'm assuming a 40-45 minute direct here so it's easier to split up into roughly even sections.

I cant believe that we are gonna see Zelda Botw2 in less than a Week... I'm so excited!!!

It better be in the upcoming Direct, ortherwise....

I truly doubt they are going to launch separately two big 3D Zelda games, and less with BotW2 so close. They will launch one single SKU with the two games in a pack (hopefully) or just one of the two games. It wouldn't make sense to launch ww and tp separately the same day or close, they would eat each other's sales.
Totally agree. I just don’t see why they would do that. I think if anything’s coming to retail this year, it’s either one HD remaster or a basic 2-pack of the GC games (3D all-stars style). And full price too.

"Talking Super Soaker Companion?"

Also Zelda team, I love you, you're the reason why I'm doing what I'm doing at all. Please don't make Bonejack do this. For the trees.

"oh wow, this big super soaker can shoot much further than a regular super soaker... further... delay further?! alright then..."
