It seems a little soon after the release of FE Warriors to move on with a new FE announcement, to me. Maybe an announcement in the Q1 Direct with a release later in the year (a la Xenoblade 3) feels more realistic? It feels like this has already been a sort of niche/anime/RPG-heavy year for Nintendo and I think we’re likely to see them focus on some wide appeal titles as we approach the holidays. (Now, if we’re talking about a FE Warriors Expansion Pass…)

y'know I'm wildly hypocritical because if the rumors included Animal Crossing HD or Pikmin 1+2 I'd be all about the Old Shit Direct

Truth be told, I think the only Old Shit we actually get right away is Zelda, Metroid, and NSO Game Boy(Color), maybe GBA too. The greater (and more interesting) remaster plans are coming down the line - I could see it even going over the next five years just to handle GameCube stuff.

Here's a question: if Zelda WW and TP aren't bundled, and are sold separately, would you still buy them if you were planning on buying the double pack? Personally, I sure as hell wouldn't lol.
Secretly hoping that they’re sold separately for $60 each so I can save $120 by skipping both.

So I just dropped some cash on a Nier Automata and advised a friend to get Triangle Strategy.

Square-Enix - I did my part, now you do yours.

Expecting nothing less than 2 announcements in the direct, I summoned them.
Square Enix has been such a consistent presence these last couple of Directs that it's hard to imagine them being absent. Personally I would love to see Team Asanos next HD-2D title.
Nintendo fans, also: Hey Sony, Don't you dare take Asano from us! We love him and he loves us!
Why would Sony want him? His team doesn't make cinematic third-person action games that feature the occasional father.

I think we get Metroid Prime Remakester (TLOU Pt 1/Demon's Souls Style) - with a little MP4 - 2023 stinger to open
Zelda Remasters and BOTW2 TItle Reveal Trailer to close

I think we're going to get both of those, only with Zelda opening and Metroid closing (they usually close with a game they haven't shown before) . Either way it works for me!

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the quickest way to get me to repurchase the Zelda remasters is 60 FPS. Skyward Sword was a joy with that level of performance.

Not gonna lie. 30fps would be kind of a disappointment after playing through Skyward Sword on Switch.

I'd like to have Mario Warriors game someday.

Isn't the current Switch not that much more powerful than the Wii U? I doubt it could handle 60FPS (especially Windwaker).

It's a bit more powerful. It all depends on how these ports are handled I guess, and if the involved party is able to use the games' source codes.

If BotW2 gets a full trailer, it’ll absolutely be the closer.

There’s nothing else they have that will out-hype it.

They’re not gonna expect people to be able to focus on 40 minutes of other stuff after getting the title, date and details of the next 3D Zelda.
If they were crazy enough to have a 3D Mario trailer, they’d probably close out with that. Otherwise, you’re spot on.

I guess maybe Smash too, but that’s obviously not happening.

All of this Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker talk and it just occurred to me that we’ve all forgotten about the third Zelda game on GameCube… Four Swords Adventures! FSA needs some love and a port too! Imagine that with online play? 😀

Twilight Princess's dungeon design is top notch, but the overworld of Wind Waker is something special. Honestly, I don't really know which one I prefer, which only makes me want these ports to come even sooner. I used to prefer Twilight Princess by a decent margin, but I honestly don't know anymore. I could easily see Wind Waker overtaking it.

Same thing happened earlier this year. I've always preferred Ocarina of Time, but when I replayed both of the 3D remasters I found myself liking Majora's Mask much more overall.
That’s the thing about Wind Waker for me: The atmosphere and charm of it is SO good that it makes up for the dungeon design being not that great. Just the feel of being in those spaces is a joy. The Wind Temple is still one of my favorite dungeons mostly just due to atmosphere.

I've seen conflicting reports but what I've seen for WiiU is 170-300ish GFLOPS (and the high number is very debatable), whereas the Switch (docked) apparently is 500-700ish GFLOPS, with the variability coming from its ability to do two 16bit calculations at a time in place of one 32bit calculation.

I'm definitely no authority on this stuff so if someone who understands the hardware needs to correct me please do, and I know FLOPS are not really directly comparable, but by every measurement I've seen over the years the Switch solidly outpaces the WiiU, at least docked.

I hope you're right that my WiiU can't hear me under all the dust. 😢

Wind Waker also manages to keep some of the magic of the wonderful NPCs in Majora's Mask and how they live their daily lives. It's not as extensive, sure, but especially Windfall Island feels like a real place these people live in. The towns in Twilight Princess and even Breath of the Wild feel a lot less lively to me despite seemingly having more things going on.

Yeah the BotW 2 full trailer will end the direct. It is going to be by far the most hyped Nintendo game. Nintendo will end with it. The only thing I can see ending over it is a new 3D Mario and I don’t see it being announced now.

It can comfortably run most WiiU games at 1080p. It is more powerful to it but more thanks to its hardware architecture. I guess we‘ll see, but before they lock Windwaker at 30fps, I see them going with a dynamic resolution (900p-1080p or something) in order to have it at 60fps.

I only see the Zelda ports getting 60FPS if they're separate releases.
Nintendo won't bother with any improvements if they're bundled together.

They open directs with Smash character reveals and other hype things, and people can focus just fine. They revealed Super Mario Odyssey right in the middle of their Switch presentation. As long as they have something exciting to close with, Zelda could appear anywhere in the Direct. Even though nothing they announce will be "bigger" than BotW 2, new/unseen things generate the most excitement, and there several possibilities here (New DK, 2D/3D Mario, Pikmin 4, Prime 4 etc).

I think 60fps is the bare minimum Nintendo would do for the Zelda ports. they have to dig into Wind Waker anyway to alter the Miiverse functionality so they may as well enhance the frame rate while they’re at it.

Though the games do play very well at 30 so I wouldn’t be upset by whatever they decide to go with.

Grubb being 100% on the WW/TP makes me think this is similar to the Mario 3DAllstars scenario where the package is ready and will be released within weeks of it being announced hence why it’s suggested to appear next week. I can’t see it being 6 weeks time though as that would make it fall roughly when M&R SoH is launching so maybe a 4 week turnaround? Announced on 13th for release around 7th October?

They will not end with Zelda for the 3rd time (and I know it's their most hype title coming). It will be the one title before final closer.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the WW/TP thing is sort of a “break glass in case of BotW2 delay” rapid-release product (or products).

Whilst in the shower I was thinking how the next 12 months for Nintendo play out. This is assuming rumours are 100% real

September 9th - Splatoon 3
October 7th - LoZ: WW/TP HD 2 pack
October 20th - Mario & Rabbids 2
October 28th - Bayonetta 3
November 11th - Metroid Prime HD
November 18th - Pokemon S&V

2023
January - Advance Wars Reboot Camp
March - Donkey Kong game in the style of 3D World
May/June - BotW 2 + New Switch Console

I think that's all we see, going into the E3 Direct (I think will be a General) I think we will go into it knowing 0 games coming in the second half of 2023 so this will be a big blowout and showcase the games running on the new console including a new 3D Mario which will be the big Holiday 2023 game. Kinda like a soft relaunch of Switch due to the new console launching, this would also be when we’ll see the new Fire Emblem as well.

Yep, they'll be present in some way, unsure if there's any new game announcements though as their pipeline is already stacked to the brim.

But perhaps an update on DQIII HD 2D, that would be sweet.

Next year: remasters of Pikmin 1 & 2...with a teaser of Pikmin 4. One can dream.

Something that’s interesting is that it’s not just Nintendo who is likely going to have some “classics” announcements in the Direct. I think it’s extremely likely that SE releases the FF Pixel Remasters on console this year, for example. Their FF 35th Anniversary website straight up says they have more games planned for this year (and it already seems sort of unbelievable that FF isn’t available to buy on Switch).

Haha, what if Nintendo straight up announced a “Classics Direct” on Monday. That’s one way to manage expectations and telegraph that we won’t be seeing BotW…then they can just fill the Direct up with announcements of all the stuff we’ve been talking about in this thread and then stuff like FF Pixel Remasters and Mass Effect and whatever the heck else. Just, like, forty minutes of Switch getting all the games. I’d love it.

I truly doubt they are going to launch separately two big 3D Zelda games, and less with BotW2 so close. They will launch one single SKU with the two games in a pack (hopefully) or just one of the two games. It wouldn't make sense to launch ww and tp separately the same day or close, they would eat each other's sales.

I also don´t see them releasing any Zelda Game until botw 2 release.
They had plenty of time during 2020 and 2021.
If they were sitting on these ports for so long, they can sit on them even longer.

All I need this upcoming Direct is Prime Reprimed.

Bayonetta 3 is releasing soon, so I don't need a new trailer on that. BotW2 I will get anyway, all I need to know is the release date and maybe the title. Fire Emblem would be nice to see, but it might be too soon for that.

Just the tiniest glimpse of Prime 4 would be great, though I don't expect it.
