Switch is almost six years old. As hardware gets older, Nintendo tends to play it safer and more conservative when greenlighting projects.
3DS is a good example of this. The final years of 3DS saw plenty of ports and remakes:
- Luigi's Mansion 1
- Xenoblade Chronicles 1
- Majora's Mask 3D
- Hyrule Warriors
- Mario Maker
- Yoshi's Crafted World
- Captain Toad
- Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions (remake of the DS game)
- Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey (remake of the DS game)
That said, it's not like Switch doesn't have new games coming. We know Breath of the Wild 2 and Metroid Prime 4 are coming. We know a brand new
Fire Emblem is coming. We know a
DK game has been frequently rumored... (I can't personally confirm it, but I trust NateDrake).
So, I wouldn't worry about Nintendo's output consisting of only remasters and remakes I think Nintendo will try to find a balance between new stuff and old nostalgia stuff. For the past five years, Nintendo found a balance between "new games" and Wii U re-releases.
