The Legend of Zelda Unleashed Turbo Royal International Zodiac Job System Championship Definitive Edition Final Mix featuring Dante From Devil May Cry series & Knuckles

(I'm sorry)

Anyone excited for the first tweet of the day? It seems like the Direct is next week, but I'm not ruling out this week.

Part of me feels like the proper name for BotW 2 must explicitly feature a character in it somewhere?

They've kept it hidden this long because they're worried about it spoiling an aspect of the game, which makes me think there's no way it can be as vague again as something like 'Breath of the Wild'.
It's probably gonna be like "the curse/corruption of ganon" to reveal that Link's has access to ganon's powers in this game as a result of the opening we saw in the initial reveal.

The Legend of Zelda: Skies of Time.

Time manipulation is obviously a very important feature in the game, so i'd almost bet hard money that there will be a time reference in the title.
Another point for this is that Mummydorf from the initial reveal definitely is some "menace from the past" which is time-related too.

Next up, Skies. Why skies? Because the focus of BotW 1 was "The Wild", the ... well ... ruined and "feral" Hyrule. But the game "leaves" this somewhat, going to another layer, the skies. So i could see there being a reference to that in the title too.

Therefore, my suggestion is "Skies of Time".

Cries in Xenoblade Chronicles X

I know the game had a rocky development and quite a few folks at Monolithsoft aren't fond of it, but i would hope they could muster a up a temp new team of younger folks who joined after XCX and don't have any ill feelings and are motivated to release it from the Wii U prison.

To clarify, Nintendo wants to remaster/remake a lot of games, not just GameCube games. I wasn't just talking about GameCube.

And they won't all release in 2022-2023. Nintendo likes to sit on finished games and sprinkle them into gaps. Basically, the same strategy they've been doing with Wii U ports since Switch's launch. So nothing has really changed. The only difference is Nintendo running out of Wii U games to re-release.

From Link's Awakening to 3D Mario All Stars, Nintendo is very big into re-selling nostalgia right now.
Do you know if Nintendo is looking specifically for partners like MercurySteam to remake games and potentially take the lead in future new entries? It's probably not much of a concern for stuff like Zelda where they can get Tantalus to handle remasters while Nintendo proper handles mainline entries but the other IPs that have been mentioned (Golden Sun, F-Zero, Star Fox) aren't in the same situation. That's always been the missing puzzle piece for me: There's little point in reviving classic franchises if they don't have a plan for what comes after. Sorry if you've already spoken about this.

I remember you posting a tweet about Nintendo wanting to go "remake crazy" with their huge back catalog. I suspect we're going to see a lot of 'em over the next couple of years, everything ranging from Famicom Detective Club-likes to major past favorites. Anyway, nice to see you here!

Have you heard any whispers about M&L on Switch?
Even if you dont answer, thanks for stopping by!

I sorta doubt that they will use 2 words that has already been used in previous titles.

I think that they most likely will outsource the development of the port (just like XC3D).

Maybe it did because we haven’t had this formula since TTYD ? People have been asking for this for decades. This is not something we had the luxury to have at least once in per console.
I think maybe we're using different definitions of "aged poorly" then. To me, a game that aged poorly is not fun to play in 2022. I would buy the first two Paper Mario games brand new today, and a game based heavily on them, and I don't come away feeling like the gameplay is dated or no longer works for modern gaming expectations of quality of life.

I think MOST games on the N64 aged like milk and are damn near unplayable today.

2025, ten-year anniversary.

Yes, little effort, big payoff.

Unfortunately it is a period in which nostalgia pays a lot, and for those who would like to see new things, they must wait between a porting/remaster and a soft remake.

Meanwhile, 6 years go by for a new Zelda (a direct sequel, with same assets...), 16 (?) Years for a new Metroid Prime, and who knows how long for a new Mario.
Sigh.

Damn Nintendo fan base's nostalgia 😅

and of course none of those remakes will be the Mother trilogy

After a while it's hard not to become cynical about the Mother franchise, and yet, there's still a part of me that says this will happen one day.

Just an example: WayForward developed a remake of Advance Wars 1+2. Did anyone have that on their E3 predictions bingo card?

Advance Wars is a perfect example of what to expect from today's Nintendo. Nintendo is always looking for ways to either remaster or remake their past.

Another example: Nintendo convinced Square Enix to remake Live-A-Live, a 1994 SNES RPG.

Never say never. One reason XCX hasn't happened yet is because Monolith was so busy with Xenoblade Chronicles DE and Xenoblade Chronicles 3.

Now that the entire trilogy is on Switch, maybe Monolith will have more free time/resources to give XCX some serious consideration.

Have you heard any whispers about M&L on Switch?

No, but it's a tragedy what happened with Alpha Dream.

Yes, nothing has changed in that regard.
yes, we're expecting a Direct for the 13/14th.

New FE, DK, re-reveal of Botw2, TP/WW remaster, Metroid Prime Remake/remaster and GBC/GBA are heavily rumored to be there (of course, just some of these will be actually revealed, of course).

Thank you both!
I really hope that FE will be there, it’s the thing I want the most😭

GBC/GBA NSO, Metroid Prime, new FE and TP/WW are very probable, if we lean on the rumors spread by various and respectable insiders and journalists. we shall wait and see.

I really, really hope Xenoblade X comes to Switch or the Drake Switch. It would be an absolute crime to leave Mira behind on the Wii U. Would be an awesome opportunity if a sequel isn't planned to add some more story content to the game to wrap up some of the loose threads.

We’ll probably get the first three Mario & Luigi games in their original forms via NSO eventually. That’s why Nintendo seemingly exclusively taking the remaster approach for GC (and Wii and 3DS) is a bit of a shame in a way; it decreases the chances of “lesser” titles that aren’t easy to rerelease on their own. After we get individual remasters for select games; Metroid Prime, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, TTYD, F-Zero GX; a ton of other classics will remain missing and unavailable.

What i’m saying is please remaster Chibi-Robo (and Skip’s other console games if possible) Nintendo!

I agree.
But IMHO there would also be a need for a sequel, because the XCX ending opens up to a storyline that could be among the best stories in video game history.

I most want a sequel to be clear. Mira is bigger than the five areas we saw for sure. Just endless potential.

Prediction: BotW2, a Switch Pro (name pending) launch title, will feature an in-game T-shirt for Link that has the Switch Pro logo on its chest

People trying to guess what the name of BOTW2 is the same as with NX. It was known for few months before the reveal that it will be a hybrid and yet not a single person thought of a Switch.
What's probably funny is if you go back to the discussions of the old nx rumors and such, I bet a bunch of posts and articles kept dropping the word switch in context of "a system that is hybrid and can switch between tv and portable mode". Probably a whole lot of staring the answer in the face.

Based on what you know, are they more incline to remaster or remake?
I really hate game that are just ports in HD with no improvements in terms of texture and graphics like things like SS HD, but I would preferer something like Xenoblade Chronicles DE

Do I hear Yoshi's Island remake? I think I did! Just make it widescreen, it's perfect otherwise.

Honestly I'd love a Mario All-Stars like in ye olde days, but in widescreen and including Land 1 & 2 and Yoshi's Island.

I wish that instead of a remake they would add a lot of new content to old games, Ocarina of Time with new dungeons, Mario Sunshine and the lost levels. In my mind THAT would be a proper remake/master/imagining/whatever

Currently playing Rareware games (DK64, Jet Force Gemini) I would mind new content in a similar graphical style and execution. There's something very appealing about those blurry textures to me.

I feel like those FE leaks we got sometime earlier this year are way too many and would need way much work (yes i know how far some people go with fakes) for them being fake.

Anyone doubting Gust FE is doing so on some good ignorance.

Also thanks for the little hope about XCX earlier, it keeps the little i have alive, most of my hopes is still on a Baten Kaitos 1 + 2 remaster/port. ^^

I'm really excited for the future of Metroid, whether it all happens in this Direct or not, both Prime HD and Prime 4 feel close for news at least.

Oh, I know, I’m just wondering if they they expect WayForward to make future AW (co-developed with Intelligent Systems perhaps) if Re-Boot Camp turns out to be successful. Remaking games in dead series just for a temporary hit of nostalgia seems a bit wasteful.

If Prime HD is due to this year, which it 99.9% will be than it's in this Direct, that also means something from Prime 4. I can't see them not showing anything from 4 when they will talk about another Metroid title and not 4.

They can always do the Aonuma and just have some higher-up say that development of MP4 goes smoothly but too early to show something, so here's MP 1 Remakester.

It's absolutely possible, we saw Mercury Steams remake of Metroid 2 and it's success lead them to making Metroid 5.

The thing about Metroid is that I am really hopeful for its future. Dread sold really well, and with Prime HD and Prime 4 coming up, they should be able to capitalise on that and keep the series in the spotlight for the next couple of years.

Hopefully Metroid 6 will follow not too long after, which should be doable if they keep Mercury Steam around as their go to 2D Metroid devs.

I 100% believe Fire Emblem will be on its way soon, firstly thanks to Emily, secondly FEH needing new shiny things to sell as the mobile cash cow LOL. Either way I am waiting with baited breath,
