It would be dishonest and irresponsible if I backed a rumor that I don't have sources for. My sources aren't aware of every project that Nintendo makes. I can easily believe that a Donkey Kong game is coming, but I just don't want to slap my name on every rumor that gets reported. Does that make sense?

For what it's worth, Zippo has recently said stuff that makes me believe he might have good sources. I won't vouch for everything Zippo says, but I wish people didn't badmouth him so much on this site. Unlike Samushunter, I believe Zippo has good intentions, and I wish he posted here on Famiboards.

Hey, not sure you're aware, but just as a heads-up, terms like "soyboy" and "lolcow" are generally used as pejoratives that hold some particularly bad connotations. Not saying you're explicitly using them as such, but just thought it'd be worth it to let you know, regardless.
 
Just spoke to my source about the one final thing announcement.

We see amazing graphics. An apocalyptic setting with a space soldier jumping in and out of vehicles and taking on huge alien monsters.

I very much doubt this even if the Switch successor is 100% backwards compatible. Cross gen has proven to be too lucrative for the industry for Nintendo to just cut off their 120+ million selling console cold turkey. While there are obviously some games being worked on now for the Switch successor only, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of Nintendo's big 2024 games come out on both the old Switch and new Switch.

And that's just assuming the Switch successor is 100% backwards compatible, if the successor isn't then we'll be seeing Switch games probably as long as we saw 3DS games.

Beggars can't be choosers! There would be annoyance, joy and curiosity that's for sure.

Although DK arguably should be first in the queue for a similar renaissance. Can't complain if DK is treated as well as Crash has been in recent times.

Some might say it won't be ideal but I'd be alright with a remastered og DKC trilogy or even a retooled DKC Returns port to tide us over in the meantime.

To be fair to RGT he most often dismisses speculation. I dont agree with all his views but on that at least he engages in less clickbait than most.

On Dread also he said it wont more than 3m and he was kind of right

The real big loss here, if we do end up in a future where we only get ports and sequels to games already on Switch, is no new Style Boutique/Savvy game.

I would want the full context of the quote, as there is a world of difference between "It'll be the best selling metroid but it still won't sell much more then 3m lifetime" and "Dread won't sell, it'll never reach 3m lifetime". The latter is just flat out wrong, while the former is a spot on prediction. In a vacuum though if you say "thing won't sell >x" and thing does in fact sell >x, even if it's >x + 1, you're wrong.

And yes, I realize as of the last numbers we had Dread had only sold 2.9 million, but that just further confirms that 3m+ lifetime is a lock, heck it might have already pass 3m quietly.

Had an incident with my hand yesterday where it went completely numb and I couldn’t move it. Four of the fingers wouldn’t move at all and would barely move the thumb. It’s fine today but things like that kill my motivation to post for a while

I’m keen to find out how much remastering these previous games are getting. Will it be Super Mario Sunshine in 3DAS level or will it be more like WW and TP HD level

I believe Zippo gets info. I think though the info he gets tends to be early development on games.

Golden Sun will be back eventually, though it's hard to believe because Camelot is getting less and less staffed (38 employees in the last website update in June)

Getting irrationally mad whenever someone suggests BOTW2 might get delayed again while simultaneously convincing myself we won’t see it in the upcoming direct so I don’t spend every waking moment of the next week freaking tf out.

In my heart of hearts, I'm going to hope this is possibly referring to Zippo's Kid Icarus thing, but we'll see. I just love that game so much.

I've also kind of always considered Zippo to be somewhat reliable, despite him being infamous around here. I remember a lot of instances where he was right and people just ignored it, he was the first one to talk about a new Mario Party before Superstars was announced, he's being talking about P3 and P4 on the Switch for a while, and he kinda got right the MK Booster Course (but he thought it was MK9, which is understandable if he heard it was 48 new tracks).

He surely has sources, it's just that he might not have as much access to them as other leakers so sometimes his info isn't as up to date or a bit inaccurate
 
I think the biggest problem with Zippo is this... attitude he has which often makes him react overly-defensive when he's questioned.

He definitely has gotten things right in the past though.

He’s gotta do a significantly better job of reining in expectations then, given how many of his predictions are “X will be announced soon/release this year”. I certainly don’t think it’s impossible that he’s got sources, but the way he conveys his info is so misleading at times that it’s hard to really take what he says all that seriously.

However, for what it’s worth, I did take a look at his blog and it was way tamer than I thought it would be. Didn’t see any of the homophobia, at the very least, just his own distaste with the Era moderation. Maybe I didn’t look hard enough though, I dunno.

In regards to Mario Kart, he said that it was gonna be a big Nintendo crossover kind of deal.

I remember when he still posted on Era and I don't remember him being homophobic at all. He's just very salty about being banned from era after he wasn't approved by their verification system for insiders.

I really like the idea that Nintendo is trying to get as many of their IPs represented on Switch as possible. Even if it means remasters, I think it's important for a system to have as much variety as possible. F-Zero, Star Fox, Punch-Out, Kid Icarus... Bring them all.

I feel this way, too. It's a great way to send the Switch off. And if these remasters perform well on Switch, maybe Nintendo can be convinced to make new games with those IP in the future.

Kid Icarus uprising with good pointer controls would be huge.
Hard to play it in handheld mode though...

It's one of my favorite games of all time so I'd like a true effort to do it justice.

I don't always agree with RGT but he's one of the more honest Nintendotubers. Much better than Nintendo ambassadors like OJ Playeressence or Miss click who famously called the limited release of Mario 3D all stars a "good thing" for gamers.

Zippo even with most of you don’t liking him, I’m with Emily on the topic that he have more solid sources nowadays

I’m keeping contact directly with him and several things don’t get public published and some of them that he told before already proven real

With this said, I hope it’s Kid Icarus thing turn to be real

for some reason the internet feels like they really want metroid to fail. You dont get this kinda shit with fe for example

Nobody said FE3H would never sell more than 2,5 million. And everyone ignored when dread outsold fe3h's launch too. Dread's 3 million in less than a year was seen as bad performance while xenoblade's 2 million in 2 years was seen as massive somehow.

Idk i know it sounds weird but it seems like that.

Oh, of course; I just mean that if / when your sources hear of any DK rumblings it’d be a load off my mind, since they seem to be some of the more trustworthy Nintendo sources around. I believe MonkEPD is happening for my own reasons but I can’t put full faith into the supposed inside info side of it.

Between the vague Star Fox post, the not-so vague Kid Icarus Uprising remaster post and the most recent post about 2D Mario i’d guess the second is the recent rumor of his that has gotten your attention; whether it be accurate guesses based on Namco’s recruitment earlier this year or actual info; either way it seems likely with all the recent talk of ports, remasters and remakes spurred by fan demand. 2D Mario is inevitable anyway and Star Fox kinda is too even if it takes awhile, so there’s not really anything to chew on there.

Yeah, no; even he didn’t take credit for that as a correct rumor. His current position is that the Booster Course Pass is a low budget side project outsourced to Bandai Namco while the Real Mario Kart Team works on this ‘Mario Kart X’. I’ll spare my specific thoughts on that.
