Do we think WW and TP will have a staggered release? Like...Dec/Feb, or something like that?

Perhaps time for Minish Cap/Seasons to get NSO releases in the lead up to BOTW2, so a new Zelda on Switch every month or two?

Ports, ports, remake, ports of ports...
Honestly, none of the rumoured stuff for the direct really excites me.
I already played through WW and TP several times and have no desire to do replay them anytime soon. Metroid Prime remake (or remaster??) sounds neat and I'll definitely get it to support the franchise, but to me, Metroid Prime is one of those games that aged gracefully. It's not really one of those games that I'd desperately want to see remade/remastered, specially on Switch hardware.
Kid Icarus Uprising is one of my favorite games ever, but a remaster without pinpoint stylus-controls sound like a downgrade to me. But I'm definitely glad for those people who had handcramp issues when playing the original on 3DS.

Man, I really hope there is some new stuff that will excite me, but I fear that they will hide all the big bangers until they announce the Drake.

Sorry, don't want to sound like a downer. I just hope that they'll finally re-reveal BotW2 with a proper sub-title and a good chunk of footage.

I still wish they skipped the HD port and instead gave the Xenoblade Chronicles and Metroid Prime Definitive Edition treatment to Twilight Princess.

Is already the definitive classic 3D Zelda game, it just needs the visuals to make it completely shine.

I'm terribly sorry for the stupid question...

Are we expecting Drake to be a revision (Pro) or a successor? I usually only pay attention to software, but now that the Drake reveals are coming to light in conversation, I'd like to know more.

I'm going in expecting Metroid Prime Remake (no MP4), some sort of Mario game, WindWaker HD, and BOTW2. That's it. I hope that's reasonable.

I know we like to doom and gloom during the wait for the direct but:
1) no direct had every announcement leaked or rumored before the direct, just because we have insiders speculating on this games it doesn't mean that's all we're getting.
2) this direct is coming in september with an holiday lineup pretty much already done, even if it did show new games we'd still have to wait for over 6 months to play them.
3) So it's not such a big deal if this direct shows a new game for 2023 and the rest is ports since at worst, we'll just have to wait for the February direct to see new games and of course if botw2 is close to be released we'll have that game to keep us warm during our hype cycle.

I don’t doubt this at all, but I kind of share a similar “ports ports ports - meh” sentiment going into it. It’s for the best; keeps my expectations low

From what I’ve read from speculation it sounds like the hardware in Drake could be a successor, but Nintendo will position it as a revision in the Switch family line.

The tragic part of no dlc for superstars is when they do release another game they’ll likely add something or do something different that’ll fuck it up.

I want DLC for Superstars because it’s like the first time since the GameCube they got basically everything right it just lacks games and maps. Id pay 60 for a Map + mini-game pack for it over another release
Next Mario Party will likely be an experimental spinoff like Star Rush, so that they don’t step on the toes of Super or Superstars. They’ll want to sell all three side-by-side.

Prime HD, WW/TP HD, BOTW 2 meaty trailer with title reveal, and one surprise and I'm going to be foaming at the mouth. Throw in GB/GBA on NSO and I have a whole new set of games to play for the first time (minus the Pokemon and some Mario games on those systems). Anything more than a FE-sized reveal for new games, like Mario, Pikmin, F-Zero, DK, and this will be a truly excellent direct for me. I understand how some would be let down by a heavy focus on remasters though.

People complaining about ports of the Zelda games, I mean, we have pretty much every mainline Mario game on the Switch right? So why not the same with Zelda? Like, I get that you’ve played them a bajilion times, that doesn’t detract from the fact that the games may now be playable from wherever the heck you want.

Directs usually always have something new. I’m sure we’ll all get something we like out of the next one.

Well, last time we had more than one first party reveal at a September Direct was the 2018 one AC and Luigi's Mansion 3). 2019 and 2021 got only one reveal each (Xeno 1 and Kirby).

Expecting 3 new reveals could be reasonable but you're missing Fire Emblem, so it's basically 4. And yes, still pretty reasonable.

If the Direct has -

  • Metroid Prime remake
  • WW + TP Bundle
  • GBC + GBA for NSO

Those 3 alone would make it a great Direct for me. An Advance Wars release date (which really needs to happen) would movie it solidly into "A" territory.

It has to have GBA for me. It can’t just be GB and GBC.

As much as I'd love to see new games this year is already stacked between splatoon 3, pokemon and bayonetta 3 and I can live with them until next year so bring in the ports and maybe botw2 and then give us a banger direct next year with new games.

I'm gonna be really sad when the Direct comes and goes and Mario turns out to be a no-show yet again

2D, 3D, I don't care which, I just want to see it. The plumber has been stranded in ports and spinoff land for so long.

All those years we had an E3 Direct. This year we didn't, so they need to make up for lost time. I really don't see Fire Emblem showing up here (I think it's a summer 2023 title).

GBA is all that matters. Just that alone will make NSO actually worth it.

It’s going to be shadowdropped in the Feb 2024 direct, you heard it here first lol
Everybody check your Switches. The fully completed Metroid Prime 4 has been in your game library this whole time and none of you noticed.

I agree! I want Mario. Zelda ports are whatever. Mario is where it’s at!

Last year's September Direct had the first Bayo 3 gameplay trailer, plus Kirby's announcement and one more Splatoon 3 gameplay video. I'm expecting a little more than BOTW2, a bunch of ports and GameBoy on NSO tbh. There must be at least one new first-party game announced

Honestly the new announcements does seem port heavy instead of new games but when you throw in updates on announced games (Bayo 3 almost certain, BotW2 very likely), post launch updates (Xeno 3, Splat 3) and probably new FE…. It seems like it could up a pretty great and well rounded direct
