I do believe it exists but i would like to know how this forum would act if it was all smoke.

Would famiboards just act as if people who believed were crazy and there was no chance of it ever happening?
As much as I want it to exist and think it does, I'd also find it absolutely hilarious if it just doesn't. Will be an interesting time if it doesn't show up in the direct.

The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, should’ve stayed with its original title, The Legend of Zelda: Water World

Nintendo lives in a perpetual state where it is releasing no games yet also releasing too many games for even more games to squeeze in.

If it turns out to not be real I will never trust anyone ever again for the rest of my life.

No, he did not. Here's what he said (emphasis mine):

"It's going to be a fun day on the internet if Nintendo releases Zelda: Wind Wake HD and Twilight Princess HD as standalone $60 releases for Switch with no meaningful enhancements over the Wii U versions & people call it fair; yet the same call TLOU Part 1 a rip-off at $70."
I understand but I tell myself that he wouldn't say if he didn't have any info...

60 dollar separetely would indeed be too much

The ports are exciting, but im keen to see some new stuff. Like maybe that donkey kong or a new 3d mario, and hopefully the new zelda game or metroid prime 4, or a sequel to arms

Hmm. If that happens, I highly doubt the discourse around those ports would involve calling that pricing fair. I vividly remember the predominant criticism about Skyward Sword HD being the pricing.

The only reason I would expect these games to be $60 each is because that tends to be the price for Wii U ports. This is just an expectation based on history and not any notions of fairness.

I'm not expecting them to be 60 each though. These were not "Wii U" games I.e. bespoke titles for that console, like 3D World or Mario Kart 8, that would receive a second chance on Switch. They're remasters of GameCube games released on the Wii U. SSHD was a 'new' remaster so I understood the full price, I don't believe they'll extend that rationale to ports of remasters.

Jeff Grubb's been riding this WW/TP on Switch forever and he's been wrong about it before. You'd think after years of false Nintendo rumors fans should just believe it when they see it.

I would gladly pay for a separate copy of Wind Waker

the only thing it has with the other one is that they were both on the GameCube
As much as I enjoy TP in it’s own right I entirely adore referring to it as “the other one” next to WW

well yeah. 60 is less than 70

I mean the tweet itself was a strawman, I don't think there would be anyone who would say "$60 for this fair, $70 for that bad". I'm just pointing out that Nate did not confirm this is what's going to happen

I remember Skyward Sword HD barebones effort narrative.

Funny thing how those voices went silent after Digital Foundry video.

If WW/TP Switch versions are real I'm hoping they are 60fps just like SS HD.

A direct with BotW2 will not be a Mini. Nintendo isn't going to show TP/WW in a direct without also showing BotW2. I don't understand how someone can be confident that a direct will contain TP/WW and at the same time think there's a possibility it's a Mini.

If they wanted to show TP/WW without BoTW2, maybe because of hardware reasons and/or BoTW2 has been internally delayed to Q4 2023, then it would be a Mini (imo).

I agree it sounds a bit unorthodox, but it might be that the release dates for those titles are quicky approaching and Nintendo feels the need to announce them while still having other plans for BoTW2.

I don't think Nintendo has any issues with releasing TP and WW within months of Breath of the Wild 2. By this November, Nintendo would have released 3 (5 if you include the different versions) mainline Pokemon games. They released Mario 3D All-Stars and 3D World Deluxe within 5 months of each other (and it sounded they originally intended to release them closer together). So the Zelda ports could release come this year and leave plenty of room for BOTW 2 if it's still coming in the spring.

Nintendo also doesn't have problems cramming the release calendar at the end of the year. They published like 4 games in September 2019. We as hardcore Nintendo fans might see the schedule as busy but Nintendo might consider each title they publish to be catering to different audiences.

Haven't been in this thread in a bit, trying not to get myself too hyped up, but I saw a bit about the Grubb rumors and had questions -

Do I have it right that Grubb rumored a Direct for 9/12 with TP, WW and a Zelda blowout?

I heard he also said Kid Uprising HD is real and completed?

And something about a Donkey Kong Odyssey rumor?

Has Nate or anyone corroborated this?

Sorry, just playing catch-up 🙂

I actually do disagree with those Nate tweets a bit. I think there are plenty of valid reasons to defend Skyward Sword's $60 price point (I think a better comparison would've been the Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze port), and I also think that almost no one will call WWHD and TPHD "fair" if they're each priced at $60.

And bringing the Last of Us Part 1 into it is a bit weird to me, too. I don't think anyone would argue that WHD alone at $60 is fine in 2022 while Part 1 at $70 is bad. They'd both be bad (depending on your view of Part 1)! But then to drag Skyward Sword into the argument... idk. Skyward Sword dramatically increased accessibility with the new control scheme and brought the game into HD for the first time. There IS an argument for its worth there.

I want Zippo to be right on this Kid Icarus Uprising rumour if anything because that would mean that Golden Sun has been on the plans for more than 2 years already.

(And also because Kid Icarus Uprising is awesome and a new control scheme would make it a masterpiece of course).

Let's speculate what the name of the WWHD+TPHD double pack is going to be because: "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD + The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD" is too long to be on a Nintendo Switch box spine, just slightly longer than Cadence of Hyrule's full name
The Legend of Zelda: Twice the Game, Double the Pay

Hmm the easy win is removing the duplicated series title

-> The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess & Wind Waker HD

But per @Raccoon I prefer

—> The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD & The Other One

They do WWHD and TPHD as a double pack, but it's like Bayo 1 + 2, with one of the games as a download code.

(and somehow they make a limited physical release of the one missing years later)

I've never said a single negative thing about The Last of Us Part I existing because I'd gladly drop $60 to get Twilight Princess on Switch. I'm even more willing to pay the premium price on Switch because of the portability.

Yeah, i don't agree with that comparison either.

Put TP in its place as a download code and bonus game sticker on the outside of the wrapper

Real talk - if Twilight Princess HD is on the table, I really hope they offer an orchestral soundtrack option without the annoying "enemy is near" music that ruins much of the atmosphere in the game.

Anyone else find it a little bit weird that they promoted Link’s Awakening with the original version’s logo rather than the remake? I mean, I assume they are advertising the remake…

Grubb say a Direct for sure in September, likely the week of September 12th and most definitely with WWHD+TPHD. This is likely Nintendo's Zelda blowout if they decide to have BOTW2 there as well.
Kid Icarus Uprising HD and the Donkey Kong thing are more speculations to be there, while most believe both to be in development.
Nate was one of, if not the first to definitively say a Nintendo Direct was set for September.

Maybe we should make a compilation post on all current known info? It's easier to redirect people to that

For sure, thanks for clearing that up. I agree it's a strawman. I haven't heard a good reason why they might be priced at 60 each. Not that I'm ruling it out, of course.

My dreaming me is only happy when we get a direct and then Treehouse afterwards with Zelda and Metroid Prime Remaster gameplay. My reality me is already happy Nintendo doing a direct regardless of the format.
I‘m slowly feeling how my two mes are drifting apart. The question is who will win over my body.

It’s sad that some many gaming sites are running with the “Zelda blowout” thing. Grubb was told TP and WW in this direct, he is just guessing they would probably show BOTW2 as well

The Legend of Zelda: Blustery Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Glimmering Twilight Princess

With all new chibi art style!

The Kid Icarus stuff sounds like it’s more him just repeating the Zippo rumour rather than mentioning it himself.
