The fact that some of you keep mentioning other events happening two weeks from now and not that Splatoon is releasing that week is both sad and hilarious at the same time.
 
So, we have a possible hint about some kind of Direct happening before TGS (the 15th).
Koei Tecmo will show an unannounced game there, likely the new Atelier. They don't have any reason to simply not reveal what game it is now, unless the announcement is scheduled to happen in some kind of presentation... like a Direct.

The only reason to expect anything on the 1st is that one Liam Robertson tweet, and tbh I would like someone to enlighten me regarding his credibility. The last, most credible thing I remember from him was secretly having an M+R pfp for the longest time, and even that followed him going "there is no such thing as Mario Kart 8 DX" and denouncing a genuine leak of Nintendo's January 2017 presentation as entirely fake

it literally doesn't matter that Splatoon is out that week

if there's any damage to the marketing it would apply to next week too

that's part of why I'm thinking it's the 14th

It matters a lot imo, can't show a brand new trailer for BOTW2 or new Mario movie trailer when Splatoon is releasing in 2-3 days. You want all media coverage on Splatoon. Splatoon will sell regardless but that's just my two cents. If I was Nintendo I would like all media coverage on Splatoon that week and not something else.

I am doubting 14th because that is 15th in Japan and that means a same day as TGS. A big no.
 
There's definitely a couple dates that seem very close to something important but also make a bit of sense. I feel that the 1st still makes the most sense. Announce the Direct this Tuesday and show on Thursday like the Splatoon and Harvestella show.

next week would be just as much a problem for the Splatoon marketing

if Nintendo has consistently demonstrated anything this season it's that they're willing to be patient even to unreasonable ends. I think there's plenty of time the week of TGS to get a Direct in before it but after Splatoon 3

I can't help myself but 2 or so days before TGS (in Japan that would mean only 1 single day before TGS starts). *If we are looking for announcement on the Monday 12th with Direct on the 13th in US and 14th in Japan. That is quite late to showcase games from other publisher that will be there, it was always week or two before.


Septemebr 1st for the win.

Was there ever any confirmation of a Sony event the week before TGS?

If we're being honest with ourselves, the last few States of Play have been basically micro-Directs anyways given the number of announced games that were coming to Switch too
 
I’ll take any day in September, preferably the 21st so we can just spam Earth, Wind, and Fire videos and gifs nonstop until the show.

14 September is also possible right? TGS starts on the 15th. Splatoon week is ehh, next week is ehh if Nate has a different episode coming up and still has to record predictions.

It always boggled my mind from the first time I played HR that I'm only two years older than Adam Jensen.

Maybe I should go back to replay it on my Wii U
