Speaking of GTA V, I got it on sale for PS5 as I haven’t played it. It needs 181 GB install! Games are just insane sizes right now.
With every big ass game I had to download the last few years on PC I appreciated my Switch 10 times more.
No wonder that its my favorite system of all time.

"Forest of Hope" is a Top 5 gaming theme. Sorry folks. It's true.

People should play the New LA themes from Xenoblade X if they want to make standing outside in the heat that much more enjoyable.

A lot of people seem to judge a year’s ongoing worth not just on the releases, but the announcements as well. Once we’re in 2023 and people are only judging 2022 on its releases, the reception will almost certainly be positive on the whole. Top 3 for sure, and it could unseat either or both of 2017 and 2019 depending on your tastes.

I do sort of agree, that’s part of the overall feel of a year while it’s still happening. I think a lot of that could change even this year still, once we get to the September Direct. If it’s a good one then I think a lot of people will change their minds on that front.

The Nintendo compression is very nice. I know there are high res textures and what not nowadays, but things are just insane with lots of devs in this regard.

Even without BotW 2, this has been an excellent year for Nintendo in terms of 1st party software.

So is the SV info tomorrow gonna be in-depth or naw?
probably a bit in depth. We only had one gameplay trailer so far, which showed only the professors, the starter and a couple others pokemon as well as the legendaries.
I'd think we would at least see some of the story plot, the new game mechanic, a couple more pokemon, and maybe the next evolution stage for the starters

It worked for me back in 2017

hot take:

Super Mario Bros. 3 is better then World. Not only that but its still one of the best platformers ever even today.
Must have been really mindboggling in '89.
Cold take tbh. I played Mario 3 for the first time about 2 decades after its original release and it still felt like a brand new game. Granted, I was just a little kid but even now it holds up incredibly well and it’s still one of my favorite Marios.

It is honestly incredible how modern Mario 3 feels. Hasn't aged a day. Mechanics, structure it's the total package.

And I say this as someone who puts Mario World above it - they're both GOAT-tier 2D platformers.

What a year honestly. In my opinion it really competes with 2017 and 2019. Or even better. Also as an only Nintendo user I want to play NieR: Automata and Persona 5 Royal. October is gonna kill my wallet.

I feel like people aren't seeing how good this year is for switch is because we're getting a little bit spoiled with games and are slowly forgetting how bad some months were on the WiiU.

Not only on Wii U. We have had some droughts on Switch, in 2018 and in 2020 (due to covid, yeah, but still). Anyway this year's being really awesome. There are a lot of games I want to play. Just have not enough time!

I wonder how I’m gonna balance things out once I get my steam deck. I still plan to get third parties on switch despite the games running better on the deck. I want to show support still

I think that this year has felt that way because some of the big games are more niche. Bayonetta, Xenoblade are great for fans of their genre but are more hardcore games that appeal to a certain niche. Even something like Mario Strikers or Splatoon might not excite people who don’t play online - I have two little kids, for example, so I can’t really play online right now. I can’t commit 100 hours to Xenoblade.

I’ve been told I’m not a true Star Wars fan for liking the prequels for years and I’m loling at the people suddenly saying they were great due to Ewan McGregor coming back
The rule with many Star Wars fans is that anything new is bad and anything old is good. People hated the prequels when they were new, but once the sequels started existing, people loved them. This is also why it is popular to shit on the new movies right now.

I just wish that the online Star Wars fandom wasn't so toxic and gatekeepy about everything.
