StarTopic Future Nintendo Hardware & Technology Speculation & Discussion |ST| (Read the staff posts before commenting!)

According to Nate, from my best recollection of what he said, it went into preproduction in early June when everyone was reporting on how the reveal was imminent. I believe preproduction means suppliers were getting ready to make and ship parts on a mass production scale, but they aren't yet actually doing so.

So it likely went into full production not long after, maybe later June early July?
Yeah, and looking at the panel info as well, basically production was starting or started right around when all of the rumors came in. I'd definitely tend to agree with you that if it was already in production, we would know, or we will know very soon anyway. No way it's already in production, but not getting announced for months.

Hopefully the new model comes with more colors for the main body besides black.

Give me white.

Or other good base object color options that the joycons can customize with.

Oh, and I was thinking, but I think that if a Camera made a return on the switch 2, I’d hope they used it in the same way they used it for “super stable 3D” on the N3DS, but for a dynamic VRS. It’s used for VR in Foveated Rendering, but I feel like in this scenario it can also work for a portable console and helps to reduce battery life constraints, reduce memory bandwidth constraints, hold performance targets a bit better, etc.

So in portable mode it’s would track with your eyes to adjust the VRS dynamically. Would be a cool use of this.

Degrading what you cannot see or aren’t focused on dynamically, and keeping what you are focused on sharp as a tack. Dynamic VRS for portable mode.

Docked mode would be difficult though, but I’d imagine it is just VRS applied the normal way if needed.

It's been way to damn slow lately. We all need some good hardware leaks to make things more exciting around here lol. Where are my factory leaks, shady insiders, blurry images, random cryptic hints, uncles at Nintendo?

Let's start a leak party up in this crib! 🥳

hey guys whats the latest with this switch pro stuff? are we any closer to knowing when we can see the unicorn?

Oh we're talking about the Drake color schemes we want?

Oooooooooh the purples would look so good against matte black you're right

o.o I actually meant two separate color options for the platform, much like the base Switch launched with: Matte Black, Super Famicom (or SNES, I wouldn't mind either)

...but that's not to say matte black with purples wouldn't look great

Gotcha, oops. 😅

As long as the next Switch has a Black/Gray model that works with this, I'll be completely fine.

Is that your dock? Cause I think it's assumed there needs to be new dock involved here - gonna have to re-purchase (or re-make?) this flashy beast

Nah, it's the Dock Shield from PDP that you place the dock itself on and plug up to one of the USB ports. Works with any Switch. (though it might not look that well on the white OLED dock)

Among the solutions that the current laws do not allow it. Load inside the cartridges a version as the preload, similar when you buy the digital version. And on the day of release send the information that completes the game, for this the games must include the label that it will require an additional download on the day of release, visit the eshop for more information. And it seems to me that in turn, a small recordable space inside the cartridge to record the missing information. It may be a bit more expensive, but this would lead to license validation and avoid cases of plagiarism.
Hasn't Microsoft and Sony done something similar to this to a degree with respect to physical games since the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4?

I guess Nate was also waiting before late July or so to make the final call on revealing launch for this year or next. Hopefully it’ll be good with the bad. Def not canceled, just pushed to spring 2023. I wouldn’t even mind.

I just want to know so I can be free. For the rest of the year. You know, so I can finally play games without stress or worry.

I can wait until Spring 2023 for new hardware but I'm going to just be extremely disappointed and quite frankly annoyed if we get nothing next year either. I'm ready to move on. I'm already playing a lot less Switch these days and more PS5. Nintendo really needs to "do something". Well that's my opinion at anyways, others may not care about new hardware at all lol.

Just wait 😉

What else could “clear favorite” be?
I have no idea, but the way things were left on the subject of hardware was that the previous info remained accurate unless something new came along. So that doesn't seem like something that needs to be "addressed and aired." If there's new info then I'd love to hear it, but as we sit here reading into this vague tweet it doesn't seem to match the mood we're at with hardware discussion.

It definitely is the Switch Pro. The question is if he will discuss NVN2 or other things. Hopefully both :)
I don't get why people want an "NVN2" podcast from Nate. What's to talk about? Besides being hacked proprietary information which most public channels want to steer clear of, there's really not much to it outside of the putative GPU specs (which I don't think they care about discussing) and some corroboration of things that had been said previously (DLSS and ray tracing).

I read the tweet and just assumed it was another round of hardware discussions - it was October 2021 that they last covered it and people ask constantly

Alternatively “What’s going on with Directs?” seems very topical

I agree, but it’s also been over 9 months since the 11 devs and spices podcast back in October of last year. Personally, I have no expectations of specs or games or any other technical details. Given that by the time the episode airs next week we’ll be closing in on August, I think it’s reasonable to expect the potential of a yay or nay on a holiday 2022 launch.

That’s it. Nothing more.

The claim was always that the podcast was delayed because he wanted to confirm some piece of information. If that's what the tweet is referring to, then presumably that has happened.

It could be. I just don't feel that topic jumping out of the tweet as others do.

Personally I saw it as, initially reacting to the Nvidia hack by saying they would cover it, then deciding that didn't really make sense and that they wouldn't. And then that was followed by Nate saying that there were unspecified things he wanted to confirm which could warrant coverage afterwards. So not a podcast to do with NVN2, just hardware updates.

Nothing to do with NVN2.

We have no desire to visit NVN2 or discuss Switch hardware until the time is right. Other outlets will clickbait it for baseless rumors but we won't be doing so. We discussed it last year, gave information on the devkits and the standing of the hardware at that time and will return when we have meaningful info to share/report. Until that day comes, that subject matter will not be entertained.

I think wanting him to discuss NVN2 was just another way of people trying to will hardware updates into existence.

I could still see there eventually being another podcast on the topic on hardware before it's announced. It's always been dependent on him having new news that's safe to share. Maybe that's what we'll get here, maybe not.

Edit: Whelp that’s that answered ^

He did hype some new info that he wanted to corroborate before he shared.

I guess it turned out to be inaccurate.
