They can do whatever the hell they want with the character, really, including (hopefully) giving him a visual redesign. I don't find Metroid Prime Hunters to be the greatest game, but if all they're taking from it is this glorified multiplayer skin of a character, I'm totally cool with that.

Yeah and admittedly we haven't had any inkling of what their intention of him as a character will be. We're working on super outdated assumptions based on a low poly DS game with little to no depth.

I just definitely think he's going to need a very substantial redesign and fleshing out to be compelling, at least to me personally. His Hunters iteration looks like someone's fanon OC.
 
Metroid Prime Hunters is 16 years old. Sylux will be a legal adult by the time MP4 releases

Really cool addition to the lore! I downloaded it but haven't had the chance to play it yet. When I finally do, will definitely be thinking of Fami!

And that's my thing: Sylux is such a nothing character at the moment, that they really can do anything with him. Retro and Tanabe know he's got a tough act to follow after the likes of Raven Beak, and especially their own Metroid Prime/Dark Samus. I'd like to think all this Thanos-style buildup will lead somewhere.

I still think back to the likes of the Humetroids (cut concept from "Metroid Prime 1.5"), and can't help but wonder if that's why Sylux was so bent on securing a Metroid of his own in Fed Force's stinger.

They were not hitting at 100 with those hunter designs, let's just say that much. I'm actually surprised Retro had a hand in designing them, 'cuz for the longest time, I found most of them pretty uggo, whereas the hunters featured in Prime 3 are actually quite cool looking, imo (Rundas especially).

This dude in particular looks very Bionicle / Skylanders-like:

At least Weavel had a reasonable motivation, and one I actually liked. "That's the ***** that blew me in half!"

You better believe if somebody crippled me for life and left me to bleed out on the pavement I'd have a vendetta.

And that's what made him "work", in my eyes.

So long as the Space Pirates on the Prime side are portrayed as an actual competent paramilitary force that was actively designing and reverse-engineering Chozo tech, a bootleg Power Suit made a lot of sense.

He'd be nice to see again, too. Especially if the Prime series ever gets to move to a point in time where Weavel may likely be the last Pirate left. Or at least, certainly Science Team(tm)'s last major project.

True. Gotta love an adversary that maintains consistency with established series lore.

On that note, I think I can speak for everyone, when I say expectations for Prime 4's lore are high.
 
When Sylux is revealed in Prime 4 with an awesome revitalized design and is revealed to be a badass woman rival in the suit just like Samus, then you’ll all see…

I do think Sylux is a great opportunity. Being a blank slate means they can do pretty much whatever they want, and introduce a human rival to Samus for the first time beyond some boring federation military man.

Someone with cool powers that could potentially rival hers, an interesting backstory etc.

Or perhaps that of
Gray Voice, since he served as the donor for Samus's Thoha genes. Even if we were to entertain the idea that the Prime series would acknowledge Raven Beak in any way, it cannot do so in a manner that Samus would be privy to, since that would obviously break established lore.

The only issue I'd foresee with this is that it'd be weird having yet another Samus mirror / analog as a primary villain, on top of Dark Samus, and the SA-X.
 
Sylux will reveal itself to be the main protagonist to that cancelled Retro Studios game. It will kill Samus in the first 30 minutes of Metroid Prime 4 and then you play as Sylux for the rest of it.

Fixed to make it fit a bit more what I'd like to see.

Not only so Samus can hopefully have another lasting rival (however much of antagonistic relationship it truly ends up being), but maybe, just maybe, Nintendo can FINALLY have a legit black lady as a main within its patheon.

Picking out a VA for her, Jacqueline Boatswain (Eileen the Crow, in Bloodborne) or Pippa Bennett-Warner (Malenia, in Elden Ring) would convey the appropriate level of gravitas, I think.

I really hope Jennifer Hale is Samus.

Tanabe's referred to sylux with he in recent (2016) interviews, anything could change at this point.
