Vita was a good product. And 3DS destroyed it. You need a good product and many great games. 3DS had both.Of course, that is all under the assumption that Sony makes a new portable and that it's a good product.

I agree with you entirely that a new PSP would be a serious competitor. Especially since Switch has normalized console/like games on a handheld device. If it manages to get even a small install base, it will be a far more appealing platform to develop for thanks to being on an x86 architecture. If Nintendo ends up making the error of releasing a Switch 2 in 2024, they won't have a userbase to compete with, and the new system will lose any momentum it could have had.

If Sony wants to make a portable it wouldnt launch until a couple of years more at best, such a big project would take years in the making and wouldn’t have started until 2019-2020 at best. Even if Switch 2 was in 2024 it would release before a new Sony portable, and then there is that I dont know how a Sony portable fits Sony future strategyIf it manages to get even a small install base, it will be a far more appealing platform to develop for thanks to being on an x86 architecture. Steam Deck + Sony games recently released to PC?I mean, you all make great points. But if Sony announces a portable hybrid PS4 I'm gonna skip town and become an adult LEGO forum poster
There's nothing easier about developing for an x86 handheld. If anything it's harder because of the awful power efficiency. If it manages to get even a small install base, it will be a far more appealing platform to develop for thanks to being on an x86 architecture. Where is this coming from? Are there rumours about one?A PlayStation portable would be a huge blow to Nintendo Switch, and anyone who believes otherwise isn't taking the threat that Sony poses seriously. If Nintendo is once again an enemy of PlayStation, it will not be victorious.
That's what she saidwhen did these get so small

both of these are also threats. Its like saying the Steam Deck would be a huge blow to the Switch or Cloud Gaming.
Of course they are threats. But not now and the Steam Deck is still a machine for enthusiasts. Especially if you look at the price point. It also has not these big exclusive games a mainstream machine needs when we talk about 70-120 million sold units like for the Switch.both of these are also threats.
I've been seeing a lot of ads for cloud gaming recently, and these services have been pitched similarly to the Switch: if you're playing on a portable screen, you can seamlessly switch to a TV.
Are you sure it would be technically impossible to achieve native ps4 bc on something like the SD APU?I don't understand how someone could look at Sony's position in the market over the past decade and conclude that they're making another handheld. Nintendo went handheld-only (sorry, "hybrid") to solve the problem of splitting their software output across two incompatible devices and concentrated on their more successful hardware lineage. Why would Sony do this in reverse? "PS4 as a portable" sounds neat, and they could hypothetically make a handheld device that performs similarly, but there's no way to make it run the existing PS4 library natively.
I sometimes buy some sets for my nephew and its always shocking how fucking expensive this shit is. Especially for the things you get.Legos are so expensive that the only ones I buy are the architecture series and only the cheap ones at that. Speaking of which, I still need to build Tokyo and pick up Singapore at some point.
I wish they would do more single buildings at a similar price point. The skylines are alright, but I'd much prefer greater architectural detail. Fallingwater is one of my favorite LEGO sets and I'd love more Frank Lloyd WrightLegos are so expensive that the only ones I buy are the architecture series and only the cheap ones at that. We know this?but we know they have cloaca and don’t have the muscle control of sphincters like other animal types.
You did say low-effort, but like, you’re not wrong. The models are barely touched up from their Tour counterparts, the only real work done was the insertion of moving 8DX assets (airships, paratroopas, MKTV vans) and changes to the lighting.
Yes, these tracks clearly required less work than the tracks created for the original game, but like, that’s not a criticism to the tracks themselves, it’s just the truth of the matter, but that statement means nothing towards the quality of the tracks themselves.
Essentially,
The tracks required little effort to bring over=the tracks are bad
This is basically what Nintendo has been doing already since 2018
yeah its basically disguised lazy dev rhetoric imo. What exactly is being criticized when calling them "low effort"
If it's criticizing the complexity of the tracks, why does the criticism have to revolve around the level of effort the devs are putting into it? Why don't we just say "low complexity tracks"?

"Low-effort" is not criticism of individuals, it's criticism of organizations. They did not allocate the resources required to make these tracks visually congruent with Mario Kart 8. I don't think that can be contested. What exactly is being criticized when calling them "low effort"

Now, would I in practice even prefer them to have done so? No, because I want Yabuki to make that Wave Race Takahashi mentioned a few years ago. So I probably shouldn't complain about a simple addition that was economically made.

Not really, as we‘re not talking about devs who „don’t get their job done“ or something like that, but Nintendo’s decision to just import all the tracks. Five years after getting only an MK8 port, it’s fair to expect a bit more than that for Nintendos most popular Switch IP.yeah its basically disguised lazy dev rhetoric imo.
Here is my take on new MK tracks. Yes they are kinda lazy, but it' more Mario Kart 8 so. Btw. I have not bought the course pass, I cannot play them locally but I still can play them online. So it's basically free, in that way I have nothing to complain about.
Check the thread marked summary post by Derachi.
This isn't even true. The Lite trailer was made private a year ago, nobody thought that meant anything. And we had that Chinese source telling us about the Splatoon 3 OLED model hours before it dropped, the same source telling us a new enhanced model is launching this year.
So there's actually quite a fair amount of smoke, the OLED video being removed is really not even part of that anymore.
„Economical“?? Wow, let’s talk about euphemismsIt's still about the framing
"economical" says the aame thing whereas "low effort" undeniably implies lazy workers, and if it doesn't to you, it does to every person who tends to whine abour "lazy devs"

Also, the opportunity cost should be minimal, because these tracks are just ported from world. Here is my take on new MK tracks. Yes they are kinda lazy, but it' more Mario Kart 8 so. Btw. A yabuki-led wave race...... fuuckNow, would I in practice even prefer them to have done so? No, because I want Yabuki to make that Wave Race Takahashi mentioned a few years ago. So I probably shouldn't complain about a simple addition that was economically made.
This rhetoric always surprises me. I feel very strongly that calling a product low-effort is an indictment of management, not the people who made it. I'll try to be more specific when I complainIt's still about the framing

That's fair. Also, to be even fairer, I acknowledge I'm describing my own interpretation of the terms, so it's not like I'm laying down the law or anything. I just find it irritating when we gamers, whose primary attribute as gamers is to... consume the products of creators... describe anything the actual creators (the devs) do as "lazy". Just gives me the impression that we're accusing them of not working hard enough for us. Lol.This rhetoric always surprises me. but... wave race...I love how Takahashi just said: "You may see that game again. We have been trying to make many games and that may be one of them … I personally love Wave Race!" four fucking years ago and people are still bringing that up. No, nothing is happening. It's the same as the F-Zero question days ago, just generic you may see this again in the future. End

but... EPD 9... 5 fucking years ago. Them and EPD Tokyo are one of the greatest from whole EPD but somehow they just disappeared.but... wave race...
about the fact that „economical“ frames a decision as somehow good or smart, and you try to tell people they should use this word. Those decisions might even be smart, but the products ARE low-effort. Strikers for example had less content than its predecessor, and that’s NOT because of lazy devs or something, but because of the decision to go with few characters, few stages, few modes. I won’t call that „economical“ because I can’t applaud these decisions. What are you talking about
No Lukas. Don't turn to the Dark Side.but... EPD 9... 5 fucking years ago. Them and EPD Tokyo are one of the greatest from whole EPD but somehow they just disappeared.
