What do you hate more MK8DLC new courses or New Horizons?
On the one hand, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC will taint the legacy of one of my favorite games ever, which was once an unparalleled graphical showcase from Nintendo.

On the other, New Horizons means that it will be a long time before there's even a chance of a new Animal Crossing that I truly love.

I don't think I hate either, which makes the question difficult. I'm looking forward to playing seven more Mario Kart tracks, even if they don't have anti-gravity. New Horizons may sadden me, but it was a big moment for Nintendo with an incredible impact.

So my genuine answer would be that I don't hate either, if you were actually curious and not just backhandedly chastising me for not liking something you like.

Honestly the worst part about Mario Kart 8 is the lack of screeching and smoking rubber on pavement. Shit was the best part of Mario Kart 64. It feels so clean and frictionless now.

The only thing that I hate in practice about the Mario Kart DLC is that we aren't getting more characters

There are a few games that need the road map from Nintendo.
Yeah a direct or first party mini direct sounds like a great way to do that plus announce the rest of their lineup for the year and a taste of next year.

I'm like fully on board right now. Still 30% for hardware though.

There is a lot of Nintendo roadmap plans that are just MIA at the moment. Splatoon stuff, Wii Sports DLC, Mario Strikers DLC, N64 and NSO stuff, Mario Kart Booster Pack DLC is over due. Probably a lot more stuff I'm missing as well. I think largely this is why I thought maybe a General Direct was in order but I suppose they could just do a bunch of tweets. Like with the Pokemon Puzzle NSO announcement last week, the OLED Splatoon Switch, etc. So who knows with Nintendo anymore. Their patterns are completely breaking down these days lol.

Characters are take or leave but there are way too many vehicle parts in MK8DX

I'm not going to let you take that bet

yeah but it was taken out of context
What context beyond the number of courses? I mean, we can talk opinions on the quality of the tracks, but on a pure numerically level we're gonna get 7 courses, not 8. Though if it's the idea that only seven of the eight upcoming courses have past game labels in the datamine, implying one is an original track...well, Ninja Hideaway got the same treatment and it's still a track from Tour, complete with no antigravity, so I expect the same from this set. I'd be really surprised if it was a course that isnt interchangable with Tour.

(I'm not asking this to be like argumentative or anything, I just wanna know where you're coming from.)

to my memory I haven't called any of the tracks lazy

I did say low-effort which was out of line. Not up to par, perhaps? Base Mario Kart 8 is a seriously special game
You did say low-effort, but like, you’re not wrong. The models are barely touched up from their Tour counterparts, the only real work done was the insertion of moving 8DX assets (airships, paratroopas, MKTV vans) and changes to the lighting.

Yes, these tracks clearly required less work than the tracks created for the original game, but like, that’s not a criticism to the tracks themselves, it’s just the truth of the matter, but that statement means nothing towards the quality of the tracks themselves.

Essentially,
The tracks required little effort to bring over = the tracks are bad

Currently heard from a source that Mario Kart 8 DX's Wave 2 DLC is gonna release sometime during this month. Take it with a grain of salt of course, but I'll say I'm 80% confident.

I really don't care for Paris Promenade's adaptation to 8. Tokyo Blur is alright, but Paris is genuinely confusing and flows terribly.

Otherwise my complaints are entirely with the visuals: what was once a contender for Nintendo's best looking game will now be half ugly, or at least noticeably uglier.

The music is still killer though, thank goodness.

What are the odds of half life coming to switch now that portal seems to be doing well overall?

It’s outselling everything on the eshop, even during the big sale. Best selling eshop game in Europe in the month of June as well. Wasn’t half life 2 on the nvidia shield as well?

perhaps I have crossed the bit event horizon
i also tend to take things very literally so it's okay

To add a Serious Opinion into the mix, I don't think the Booster Course Pass courses are all that ugly in and of themselves, but the art style of Tour does clash with MK8D and I wish there was more of an effort to merge the styles. We see some things with like the concrete track textures and the lighting, but I do want them to go further. That being said I do have fun with the courses because they're still generally well designed and the music remixes are absolutely fantastic, and I'm looking forward to more.

Shroom Ridge for life.

This is a great point. I was remarking to myself earlier today that if it were 2014 and Mario Kart 8 looked like Shroom Ridge I'd probably be super into it.
