It is interesting that this time we don't have any kind of leak or hint from insiders, but we are almost sure that something is happening next week.

We did it. We transcended, now we are Nintendo Gods :D
yeah that's been the cool thing about this thread, we're in charge now

Pokemon puzzle league brings back so many memories from when I was a kid playing it at my friends house!

My prediction as a big 2022 pessimist
Nintendo details more on Xenoblade this month and announces a Splatoon direct for late July or August
Drops a twitter announcement of a holiday title soon, maybe Windwaker or something
Big BotW 2 direct and a direct mini in the fall, with BotW 2 being delayed again. A few new games announced like Fire Emblem and Donkey Kong for next year.
January, Nintendo announces the Super Nintendo Switch, a new console that will also share a good amount of games with the switch (like the ps5), and eventually shows off a lot of games with some being exclusive. Releasing at some point in 2023 (really don't feel like arguing when specifically)

NSO announced earlier, no Splatoon 2 tournament next week, LaL & Xeno 3 previews and a new Switch OLED version this week. Nintendo is doing everything this week to prepare for something next week. The ball is rolling up, fellas. We're getting something.

Was NSO actually announced earlier than usual?

Watch it just be vacation for the social media team or something…

Watch next week's big news be about Illumination's Mario Movie instead.

The minions movie is out. Good time for a reveal trailer to drop.

Normally gets announced closer the 2nd half of the month. Only exceptions were F-Zero X getting announced on the 9th (back when they announced the games for the same week) and Mario Golf the next month on the 8th.

Bruh...Nintendo announced a TON this week when they could've easily saved some announcements for next week. I'm at a 9/10 on a new announcement(s) dropping next week as a presentation or on Twitter.

They're not going to detail more Xenoblade when they've already done that twice this month.

To announce a new hardware very shortly after the announcement of a special edition of their current console which will not be released for another two months would be a very Nintendo thing to do. They are attention seeking.

The main thing holding me back from going all in on something happening next week is the fact that we've had zero insider hints on it besides Nate maybe hearing unconfirmed whispers of an event in July

That may just be down to a first-party event having a better lockdown on leaks, but it does make me hesitant to fully believe in an event, even with all the other smoke that seems to be pointing in that direction.

It is weird how little we're hearing from those usual aunts and uncles...

The only reason Nintendo would be actively trying to lock this down harder than usual would be for a hardware reveal imo

I actually agree with you that the lack of leaks for upcoming software and Nintendo's plans is because they're preparing for the drake.
Although I personally think it's coming next year, it is a great explanation of why we aren't hearing much from insiders.

There's always room for more xenoblade! But to be clear I wasn't talking about another xenoblade direct, just more info being put out.
They're not doing that either. The game is two weeks out. We just got a Direct a few weeks ago and previews today. It's not happening.

That’s why I draw 2 conclusions. Because Nate should’ve heard something…if it’s a regular direct. To me this points to it being more of a hardware reveal because that is way more on lockdown compared to a regular direct.

I don’t believe a Mini Direct or any regular direct is coming next week due to Nate or any other insider hearing anything. To me it’s hardware or bust.

Hardware or no hardware, a first-party only show could have eluded insiders I guess. I still remain skeptical of any significant event before September, after feeling kind of burned by the (still great for what it was) Partner Showcase.

Directs usually leak because of the third parties involved with them; it's why keep getting bamboozled by Partner Showcases. "I heard there was maybe a first party thing in July, potentially" is not something I'd hang my hat on, but I wouldn't necessarily take an absence of insider hinting as a knock against an event that would have little to no third party involvement.

Okay, okay, let's play a game.
There's a first party direct this month... how long is it? Closest to the actual time without going over wins this...

Early leaks of Directs typically happen because of third parties, but from what I've noticed it seems like eventually people are aware of a Direct itself even beyond just those third party announcements (refer to Nate going all in on a Partners Showcase closer to the air date of the last one)

Granted, for a first party event next week I think we're still in the general time period where it's possible people wouldn't have heard of it. But if the weekend goes by without any hints I'm going to be a lot more doubtful.

Now that Japan is receiving Custom Robo 1 & 2 all N64 games already announced are released or have release date. Time to new roadmap.
